A conversion using a first-edition metal dreadnought and a second-edition metal Keeper of Secrets. Lots of greenstuff, superglue, paint, time, effort and swearing, but I'm happy with it. The dead Blood Angel is just to fill some space.

A bit of a bugger to paint, but well worth it.

I don't play Harlequins but thought these would be fun to paint. The usual diamond pattern is way beyond my freehanding skills, so I went a bit comic book with them.

Went a bit old-school. I always loved these minis back in the day, but only actually bought some last year.

Another Ebay find! The base is foamboard, sand, and Vallejo Mud & Grass paint with some Citadel Stirland Battlemire. The model was a ton of fun to paint.

I thought it would be cool to show off an older model I painted, this one is a vintage Space Marine Captain, painted in the colours of my own Chapter, the Sons of Poseidon. Comments and criticisms always wanted, let me know what you think! The model was painted using Army painter paints.

As I mentioned in the thread on the Captain with Terminator Honours, here is the best painted Dreadnaught I have done, the trident symbol on the front is the chapter insignia. Let me know what you think!

Finished this a little while ago, but it wasn't until just recently where I was able to get it into an area that's large enough, and has even enough lighting (whoo, b-day gift of a 24" cube light box and lights!) This is the terrain element that was included in the Warhammer 40,000 Battle for Macraggae boxed starter set. Hello everyone, here's what I painted last week, a Skeleton Horde by Games Workshop / Citadel Miniatures from 1986. I mounted them on 25mm base and converted a few of them. I used remaining parts from other minis and changed some shields, skulls and weapons. I also printed two army trays to be able to move them more easily and change their arrangement on the game table. There's 16 skeletons in total and I intend to use them during future D&D games. More pictures under the spoiler (64 pictures).

I love the sculpt of the king (I think Eureka calls him a chieftain, but he is too kingly for that). There is an emergency! His castle has been attacked! He didn't even have time to prepare. So his underpants, helmet and cloak are all he is wearing. He looks regal! The Novice of Sigmar is fun sculpt. At least she has a chest-plate, even if the design has some flaws. Her weapon is also terribly designed, the surface area is too large! And why she chose those stupid shoulder-guards I have no idea. But she is a fun sculpt, the cloth is nice and flowy and she has different materials that you can have fun painting. Feedback and Critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Greetings! FF53 - Ogre from Citadel miniatures "Fiend Factory" range, early 1980's. I'm guessing that for older members of the forums, this old Citadel mini might be considered somewhat of a classic, maybe even iconic? Back in the day, It's imagery definately played a part in getting me into the hobby as a wee lad. I never owned it back then but recently picked one up & painted it up! Thanks for looking.

Citadel has just released (to pre-order - they're coming out next week) a new line of Contrast paints which behave rather differently than conventional minis paints in a number of respects. I recently got a chance to play around with them at my local Warhammer store, and wrote down some initial impressions. Has anyone else gotten a chance to mess around with these, and if so, what was your thoughts on them? (my favorite result down below)

Hello again guys, so recently been a bit inspired to paint some old miniatures, ones that were nice and dark lead. Part of the reason for this is I want to get these painted before they actually disintegrate or get a lot of lead rot, so I'm going to be hopefully keep painting the few ones that I have that are really old, just to get a protective cover of paint on them, and because let's face it, they're basically just cool! So today I've got two dwarves from an old Citadel boxed set, whose name I don't remember but it was probably something like Court of the Dwarf King. Later when I get inspired I'll hunt it down on the Lost Mini Wiki. So they are two dwarves, a dwarf queen and a dwarf wizard/vizier/councilor or something of that nature. Took the photos yesterday afternoon and it was a little cloudy so the back view of the queen is little dark, but everything else worked out pretty well with the dwarf queen, I thought she had like a little mole under her mouth, which is why there is that odd line, because it might have actually just been an irregularity in the cast. Anyhoos, hopefully you guys enjoy these little gems from the past, Games Workshoppe before it was Games Workshoppe. As I find time, I'm going to be painting other great oldies as well, apart from all the Partha stuff I normally paint.

So here is my latest foray into the past, a miniature that I've had for years and years and years and in a burst of inspiration finally got around to painting her. I've got a few other Citadel minis on my desk to as well that I hope to get to little by little. So she had a squished nose, so I had to rebuilt it with a bit of green stuff, but otherwise, she's the same mini that I've had lying around since the eighties: Hope you enjoy, more to come!

So browsing MM for their BF sale & I come across this from Citadel/GW All the title says is Citadel Colour Spray Stick & there is no description, other then Manf: Games Workshop Contents: 1 Spray Stick 1 Detachable Handle 50 Elastic Bands Instantly I thought it was rubber band shooter, but it got me to look at GW's website to see what purpose this actually does: Ie something I can accomplish with double stick tape & a piece of cardboard......sigh.

When I inherited my brother's collection of miniatures about 15 years ago, there were only a few that had been left unpainted. Recently I finally decided it would be a shrewd move to paint one.

"One of my favourite range of figures ever was Citadel's 1980's licensed "Lord Of The Rings" minis. I have finally decided to get all the miniatures I own painted up (over time) & try to acquire the ones which are missing from my collection (& paint them up too!)". Here is my next completed mini - Treebeard: Mighty Ent. I tried to keep the colours as close to Treebeard's description in the book. I guess this mini sculpt may seem a little dated by todays wonderfully elaborate standards but I think it has it's own charm especially in his warm characterful face. So, uh, these are actual actual Space Marines from Citadel. I got a little sprue of them at Free Comics Day a year or two ago. The date on the sprue said 2005, so perhaps they are obsolete models. I had plans to do them up oddly, maybe sparkly purple or something, but then someone running a game I'm in said "Hey, do you have any space marines?" So I said yes and painted them up bang-up average for Space Marines, going by random images I Googled. Well, almost. The upside-down omega logo kind of insulted my linguistic sensibilities. So I painted one with an upside-down omega, one with an upside-down lambda (symbol of LGBT rights), and one with an upside-down omicron (joke). There's a little tiny bit of NMM gold on their can't-lift-their-shoulders-armor-pieces.

More Stuff I did on Summer Vacation. PingosHusband gave me a set of Citadel "Sisters of the Thorn", female wood elves riding what are supposed to be deer, I think (although they have solid hooves and their antlers attach weirdly). Anyhow, they look pretty cool. The set also could make up some hunky shirtless male riders in creepy antlered masks, and I ended up making one of those along with four of the females. And then there were parts left over. Sooo ... I had enough to make one more full male torso and one female torso lacking hair (and three male torsos that need hair and right arms, but that's a project for another day ...). Well, what can you do with a torso? Obviously, make centaurs (horse or spider) out of them. I lugged out my bin o' Bones and found 77264: Female Centaur sculpted by Sandra Garrity (There's a male centaur too, but interestingly the female "horse" part is larger and more robust than the male.) and 77182: Arachnid Archer sculpted by Gene van Horne. I ruthlessly sliced off the human torso from the centaur and used a pin because I'm not sure how well epoxy adheres to Bones. I carved the waist of the spider body a little to fit the elf torso, but I didn't take pictures of that. This is the figure fitted in but not yet glued. There wasn't any hair for this torso, so her face is only a hollow mask glued to the neck at a tiny contact point at the back of the chin, fragile and just a little creepy. I mixed up some epoxy and drizzled little comma-shapes onto parchment paper, let them dry, and peeled them off. Then I mixed more epoxy and blobbed it into the back of the elf's skull and added dried epoxy commas until it looked more or less like hair. Here are the two of them done:

Here is my next completed mini - Strider. It's actually part of a blister of 3 minis (ME1 - Fellowship Heroes) which also includes Gandalf & Frodo. I love the sculpting on this figure - grim yet regal. To make him look like he is roaming the wilds, I added some dirt onto the bottom of his cloak & boots by drybrushing a light brown followed by a dark brown nearest the bottom. Thanks for looking!
