  1. Ok lets talk about this mini. I got it two years ago in the Legend of Drizzt boxed game and just never use it. Why? Because it just looks weird for a dwarf and it is overall lacking if that makes sense. But I believe it has potential to look pretty cool and become one of my favourite minis. This isn't the first time that I dislike and convert a Wizkids "hero" mini but this conversion will be the most drastic so far. So lets begin. First of all, the thing that bugs me the most are Athrogates flails. I've found some artwork online and here's how they could look lik
  2. Several weeks ago I got to go to the hobby store and found a couple of new minis, one was this little jewel. It is pretty much done in the painting department, but what good is a catapult without its crew? These are some Oathmark dwarves that I’m converting to do the job. I admit the barrel is too big to fit in the catapult, but I’m going to find a way to work it in. I need to build a base big enough to hold everything and get some more dwarves, it is a start though. Ideas are welcome! Thanks for looking!
  3. I built a dispensor robot out of a reaper soda machine, a brain in a jar, a pair of goggles, a battery pack, and a pair of rat cyborg arms. It'll get used for this is not a test eventually.
  4. Hi everyone, here are pictures of my latest Gnoll, a converted Toghra the Gnoll Leader. The upper part is from 77235, Toghra the Gnoll Leader sculpted by Jason Wiebe. The lower part of the mini is 77236, Bloodmane Gnoll Warrior sculpted by Tre Manor. The spear head is the blade of 02757, Gastaroth the Vampire sculpted by Werner Klocke and the staff is from 14056 Weapon Pack 1 sculpted by Tim Kaufman. Here's the link to the conversion WIP if you'd like more information.
  5. I finished another mini this week and hope you like him: Elladan Elven Ranger. His weapons were a bit bendy, so I replaced them. I also repositioned his arm. I like how the cloak turned out, the face could be smoother, but his cheek bones seemed to be quite pronounced, so I went for more contrast and impact from a gaming distance. I also got around taking a scenic shot. I still think my Smartphone can't replace a proper camera, but for now it must suffice.
  6. My second project for Fealron marked off a few firsts: First magnetization, first mounted cavalry, first Pugh sculpt. Here you can see the 2mm magnets inserted strategically. This is how he sits mounted. But, I wanted to keep it removable, thus the magnets. I confirmed it would stay in place upside-down! A sharpened paper clip acting as the scaffold for the horn. I also sharpened the lance tip. It comes cylindrical out of the blister. Green putty to make the horn and cover/reinforce the magnets.
  7. I mentioned this in randomness. I've been building an urbanmech style grot bot as a present for a friend's birthday. Since I won't be the one painting it, this is as done as my part gets. This was the bot last night. The big gun is a Tau weapon, the legs are from an ambot, the other arm is a mix of random bits, and the body is a stack of bases and part of a TV mount. Then this morning I added the Ork details. A bunch of horns, a face, some more bits, and a lot of those triangles orks like. And a back shot. You can see the ex
  8. Two more members of my hill giant tribe, obviously the one on the left is the original. The one on the right has a totally seamless hair piece (!) and obviously a modified club based on one stolen from another giant. He also has a slightly more upright stance which required an extension of his furs and was probably more trouble than the effect is worth, to be honest.
  9. This was my 2019 ReaperCon Open category entry. I took Shaelin, a female bard and converted her to a vampire hunter. I am very happy with how she turned out as these were the most intensive conversions that I have done before. Changes that I made: Removed hawk on shoulder Swapped lute for a crossbow Added hat Removed hood on cloak Added fur to cloak Swapped sword for crossbow bolt Changed cloak clasps Added overlap and buttons to tunic Added sleeves
  10. hey guys, Started from that big guy (a LOTR figurine) ; With a Grenadier 28mm for comparison scale then after a surgical action ; Cheers Eric
  11. This was created at Reapercon 2018 at the bones conversion class. removed the rider and the saddle, added the mystery wings. it went through 2 rounds of greenstuffing and re-texturing. only to end up here. painted between Christmas and New years. I still have issues with the wings, which a mostly drybrushed. Ah well.
  12. I finished my Leisynn conversion. Took ages, especially with a new baby boy in the house. That said, I am fairly pleased how he turned out. I changed the entire front and head area of the miniature and gave him a more sensible staff. I think contrast could be increased overall and the subtle freehand on his robes was difficult. I will need to practice more with future minis. The illumination in the book turned out ok, but I came to the limits of my current abilities. It is based on a medieval illumination. Anyone can guess what it is? One hint: the horned o
  13. Since I got a bunch of Bones Ghasts from Bones 2... or was it 3? Bones 4? Whatever. But I wanted to do something to make them all a little different. So a few simple cuts, and a couple of drops of glue... and I've got some variety in my Ghasts. Now to paint them!
  14. Hey, all! Over the course of Bones 5, there were a few models that I was hoping for. I would say that Reaper totally exceeded my expectations and covered about 90% of my personal hopes. One of the things that wasn't in there was an Azer. For those of you who don't know, an Azer is a creature from the plane of fire, and they resemble Dwarves. They are so hot that their heads are covered in flames, and often this heat causes their weapons to be set aflame as well. Since I had an extra Dark Dwarf Pounder from my November order, I figured that I'd try my hand at a conversio
  15. Hi all, I am again guilty as charged to neglect painting my miniatures. Instead I go on converting them...that said, I intend to paint her directly after she is finished to break the pattern. This time I decided to give Bones Mini 77175 a total make over. I found the sculpt very busy and the nose was unfortunately miscast. Anyhow, I am always quick with the blade and decapitated her, took away the sword on her back and got the greenstuff out. I intend to add a skeleton coming forth from the soil beneath her outstretched hand, which required me to rebase her. I started
  16. I has a neat looking Aquila standard, and most of a skeleton and nothing to do with them, so I made this. Chaos guy got smote so hard he skeletonized
  17. Nearly finished with this mini, a male necromancer that I have converted to a female with a head swap. The mini is like a fishing weight, really heavy, and the flow of the robes and skirts in my view helps this look OK as a gender swap. Also, the original Callus mini has a long sculpted pony tail which would have been hard to file off but was easy to connect to. I have no idea how I got a large hard to disguise paint blot on the scroll...
  18. I constructed this in the 2018 Bones Mash-up at Reapercon. The wings do not go with the body, and one of the arms is not original. I forget what the weapon was but I cut it off the bone handle and added a wicked looking blade from my bits box. He was kind of boring all in grey and white, so I added a dab of blood, and put some orange into his bat wings. He's on a Secret Weapon base that has added sand to fill in weird gaps.
  19. Converted this one by using an avatars of war pit fighter body and added some greenskins bits (sword, head, etc) and greenstuff. Painted him to be used as an orc boss in my orc warband. Hope you like him!
  20. So this is the first time I tried painting freehand on the shield This is the end result of the conversion: And for the conversion part, I didn't like neither this minis pose, nor its weapon choice (pickaxe really???), nor its commie looking (???) sigil on the shield. So I removed the weapon and sanded the shield. I also think that his pose looks a lot more natural as a spear throw than a pickaxe swing.. Also gave him some simple terrain and a quick paint Thanks for looking!
  21. Gave this model a different arm and hand pose, sculpted a wooden stick and used a resin bit from avatars of war necromancer for the spear head. This was a speedpaint that took probably around an hour. Thanks for looking! The original model:
  22. Hi everyone, I recently had the pleasure of realizing that I inadvertently bought the same Gnoll model twice. So, I decided to convert two of them to create a little variety in my hunting party. Read the text under each picture to have more detail. This post was purposely written as a guide for any who would like to try their hands at converting Reaper Bones model or any other models. I used two 77236 Bloodmane the Gnoll Warrior sculpted by Tre Manor, 77235 Toghra the Gnoll Leader sculpted by Jason Wiebe and 14056 Weapon Pack 1 sculpted by Tim Kaufman.
  23. Once again my buddy with the minotaur character fixation asked me to find a minotaur for him that I can convert into a monk. Given that most are armed and armored ... I understood his dilemma. Thrym's Table presents: Spellcrow Minotaur as Minotaur Monk Original marketing image; copyright Spellcrow Miniatures. The first things that had to go were the axes. The hands were attached to axes on a separate sprue and made it easy to remove them. Next I drilled out the old handle and cleaned up the pins to the wrists. Fairly eas
  24. Not sure if this belongs here or under conversions but since I need help/feedback on the sculpting, I figured here was better. I am adding puffy sleeves to a figure and I am very much a novice when it comes to sculpting. I have been working on one and while it looks good to me, I need a second opinion. What do you guys think?
  25. This past week I painted the Female Devil "Tormentor" figure from the Bones 4 Bedeviled group from the Core Set. During the run of the Kickstarter, there were folks in the Bones 4 Enthusiasm who where considering the possibilities of converting the larger Rulers of Hell figure set into some sort of Forest King and Queen creatures by removing their wings and skull iconography. With the cloven hooves and horns I could see how easily this could be done. And, while I didn't get that set, I did get the smaller sized Bedeviled group that came in the Core Set. Looking at the female figure in t
