  1. Took some pics of my finished warbiker conversion (this is based on a deffkopta, basically a little helicopter) - WIP pics are in my wip thread. I tried several new things, mostly water effects in a more cinematic style. Tried to make the water look like it was spraying or kicked up by the bike wheels. Also did some droplet effects. Overall it's ok, not quite what I was hoping for but next time will be even better I'm sure.
  2. Right then. If all goes according to plan, this will be my first post with pictures of something I've converted / built and painted for this site. It's funny because I'm actually nervous about this posting - wondering whether I've got the guidelines down, hoping the pictures will show up correctly, etc. Showing the model doesn't bother me in the least, actually. For transparency, this model has been posted before on a different website. He was built and painted for a personal challenge that earned me nothing but glory and bragging rights - no money exchanged hands and nothing physi
  3. Blood Bowl is a fantastic game- and for many years it has been unsupported. This has led to a lot of third party "fantasy football" miniatures, as well as a healthy habit of players converting their own teams. This is the second type. Sometime after the Bones 2 Kickstarter, I found that I had a lot more Bugbears than I felt like I needed. But I started thinking that they'd make great ogres, and if they only were a bit more demonic, they could be combined with a group of Imps that I had leftover from Ex Illis. So here are my team's stars- the Bearded Devils. So far, they've performe
  4. I imagine one day that GW will update the Phoenix Lord models but I'm tired of waiting and some months ago started on a Jain Zar custom figure that I worked on here and there between other projects. This year I decided I wanted to focus on the large amount of Eldar stuff I have that's been gathering dust for years and I'm going to be focusing on three Phoenix Lords in particular: Jain Zar, Karandras, and Fuegan simply because they are my favorites. I might end up doing all of them, but for now, I'll begin with Jain Zar. So what did I want to accomplish with this? As much as I like
  5. Here is a conversion I did for a Migo warrior in my Call of Cthulhu game The body was a Reaper Warlord miniature: 14456: Mastema, Darkspawn Demon. The head was from Rebel miniatures, I think the figure was called a terror mite. The wings were something from a long time ago. buckyball
  6. I did a conversion for a friend of mine for his marvel Super Hero Game he's running. The plan for the paint was to mimic a worn dusty old German Desert Camo and lots of earth tones. The character uses his fists to create shock waves in the ground and near by objects. If you think is is cool there is a lot of stuff on my business's Facebook page Please feel free to follow me for more pictures. ( facebook.com/TabletopGlory )
  7. A friend on MWG (Sperian) came up with a guide for converting a deffkopta into a bike. Something that seems to get done a lot, actually. But anyway, I used his guide, so this is not my idea or anything, I just executed it. It's mostly done atm though I am trying to decide if I maybe want to put a KFF on it. So, I cut the skis off the deffkopta, the arm holding the rotor and the back... rotor thingy off. I used a wheel from a Space Marine bike and a large buggy wheel from Kromlech (they do awesome ork bits). You can see I broke the handlebars off, which are of a piece w
  8. I did a conversion for a friend of mine for his marvel Super Hero Game he's running. The plan for the paint was to give it a punisher feel and he wanted a heart beat logo on his chest like a heart monitor would display. The character uses the power of lightning witch he can channel threw his shot gun. If you think is is cool there is a lot of stuff on my business's Facebook page Please feel free to follow me for more pictures. ( facebook.com/TabletopGlory )
  9. This is my Spring Exchange mini - per some discussion with my exchange partner, I decided to give her a 'wand' of sorts, instead of a sword. I dunno why but the snake just happened. It seemed to fit. Anyway, to convert her sword arm to a wand, I basically cut and rotated the arm at the wrist, GSd a bunch of the now gaps (including one that happened on the back of her cloak). I whittled down the sword, cut off the hand guard and ended up making a kind of wooden hilt/handle for it (not sure the wood grain comes across). I'm not 100% enthused with how her cloak came out, still trying
  10. Hi! I painted monk for friends d&d character. I had to make one conversion of weapon - I took staff from warhammer elf.
  11. I did a quick conversion for a player in an RPG game I am running. He wanted to play a Dragonborn paladin, and this was the closest mini to what he wanted. Before I painted it, I decided it needed the weapon swaps to match the character load-out and I also added on some plates to give him platemail. Fairly rough sculpting on my part, if you want to convert this guy, I recommend cutting off the arms at the shoulder-pads to give to access to do a good job. Anyhow, used green to highlight the black and spent only a couple hours painting him up. As he isn't sealed, it lo
  12. I snipped this guy's spear and made it into crude poleaxe to lend some variety to the mooks. I wanted it to look crude.
  13. I like Jason Wiebe's not-Orcus (Demon Lord of the Undead) but I wanted mine with less puny legs. So I cut through upper and lower legs and added aluminum rods to both to fairly closely match the length of the Wolf Demon's legs. I then went back with greenstuff and filled in, matching musculature from the original sculpt just adjusted for the longer legs. I also like the Fire Demon's wings better and as I had a spare pair lying around I have borged them onto not-Orcus. Upper leg greenstuffing is done, lower legs need another pass for detail as do the wing joins. I also adjusted the angle o
  14. Ok I totally forgot to take WIP pictures so straight to the show off forum for this guy. This is my first weapon convert as well. I had an Axe from a lego character lying around and thought the poor Marsh Troll really needed something to kick his act into the next level so out came the knife and here is the result. The swamp base has no water effects on it as I don't own any.. so hopefully it passes muster. First the front view taken with and without a flash just to see the difference then the sides and a close up then the back (not that exciting)
  15. Here's 01539, Gil the Chibi Sea Monster aka Chibi Tiik, Special Edition Bonesylvanian Figure sculpted by Julie Guthrie. I converted this one so he will look like a deep sea monster more than a swamp monster. The idea for the modification came to me after seeing a psychedelic painting of the Creature from the black lagoon. The light effect on the face inspired me to convert Gil into a Tiik "deed sea monster" like creature with the light from his lure lighting up its face. So was born Chibi Tiik. Here's the link to the Converting/Painting WIP. I hope you'll enjoy. As always, comment and
  16. This is a conversion of Hasslefree's Gen. I had pictured a mini sitting on a stone looking into a pond which sent me on a search that ended with Gen. Her pose was perfect for what I wanted and when thinking of exactly what to do, my mind went to the Blue Fairy. Blue for color as well as mood. So the conversion to her was that I removed her horns and knife, added wings, and added the leaves and flowers to her hair. She received a silver medal in the Open category at ReaperCon. The main feedback I received was I need better directional shading on the base, the way I painted her wings make th
  17. I had never painted a Garrick the Bold (Sir Forscale) before, and since it seems everyone and their brother around here has, I thought it was about time I did too. Coincidently, I needed a knight for a new Frostgrave warband I was working on, so I thought it would be the ideal time to do a Garrick for myself. Since he is going to be fighting in colder climes, I first modified him by adding an old GW cape to the figure. Also, since he is going to be employed by a Sigilist wizard, I did some freehand lettering on his shield.
  18. I needed a female human archer to complete my new Frostgrave warband, so I thought I'd see if I could make one using the pieces from the North Star plastic Frostgrave soldiers set. While I've heard it said that since the clothing on these figures is so bulky that any of them could be used as women, since the figure's shape wouldn't show through all the clothing layers anyway, I like it when figures that are supposed to be female actually look like a woman. I didn't want to just sculpt breasts on one of the existing figures either, as I'm not a very good sculptor. So I thought about where I
  19. Not a great picture, due to lighting, but I'm playing around with a Bathalian I converted with a futuristic pistol from weapons pack 55025. I dug it out for what I hope will be a near-term game of Rogue Stars, Osprey's new generic SF squad skirmish game. I'll post him again once he's based, but I suspect my Rogue Stars forces are going to get something unobtrusive in basing style.
  20. Awhile ago one of my Fellow Lead Adventure Forum Guys, ZeroTwentythree, sent me a Anthropomorphic Vulture he had made. The depressing little Creature sat for some time based & primed, but otherwise untouched. Then Zero Himself posted a photo of a similar Guy to whom he had added a Mordheim accessory sprue lantern. THAT was just the thing to shove me into action...so to speak. I added the very same lantern-on-a-stick AND made a bell from a G.W. Skaven (Rat Guy) part, a bit of plastic tube, a bead, & a pin from a flannel shirt I bought. The resulting conversion reminded me of the Mordh
  21. Inspired in part by the Great Frogmeister's silly photos of Kaladrax getting into bags of snacks, doing battle against action figures, and tearing up rolls of toilet paper, I thought I'd finally get around to tackling my own Kaladrax from the Bones Kickstarter. Here is a very rough, un-glued assembly of the parts I have. All I've done so far is to cover all the pieces with Americana "Parchment" acrylic (a sort of yellowish-beige-white), then to apply a wash with a big jug of brown paint that has gone "soupy." (This happens to a lot of my acrylic paints: it turns watery, and my attem
  22. So when this model came out I had to have it, as, I suspect, did every other ork player as well. It just screams WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHcoughcoughOrk. Anyways, been working on it for about a week? I think. Sadly it is now finished and I have to find a new project :( :( Sadness.
  23. Another old Mage Knight orc figure that I converted a while ago (WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60174-mage-knight-orcs-conversionrepaint/?hl=%2Bmage+%2Bknight+%2Borcs) and finally finished up painting during the paint binge last weekend. Nothing special, just a tabletop paint job; he'll get used along with his buddies in a Song of Blades and Heroes warband, as well as for D&D.
  24. After some final sealer, Ajaxxus 5.0, Tiefling Barbarian, is ready to hit the dungeons! I'm not sure why he wound up so shiny in these photos, he's not glossy in person. Hanging out with Sir Forscale to show his reduced stature from earlier versions: I have a WiP thread of the conversion process here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71285-lidless-eye-wip-ajaxxus-skiotho-tiefling-barbarian-conversion/?p=1456616 Hopefully I'll get to play in a game rather than run one soon and be able to use him again!
  25. Another conversion, this time a Gnome Bard from Reaper's "Balto Burrowell". This is to represent one of the player characters in my "Storm King's Thunder" campaign.
