  1. The Andromedan Dominion controls many cubic parsecs of the local Outer Spiral Arm, decadent hegemons given to backstabbing intrigues, convoluted politics and railgun diplomacy. Controlling the fractious populations of several suns means there's always a need for footsoldiers! 40927 here is a junior cadet, ready for her first off-world assignment. Yes, she's effectively a child soldier; that's the sort of thing you get from decadent hegemonies! It's a good way of cleaning up lines of succession, if nothing else. Notice the ceremonial hairpiece and digitigrade stance of the ruling caste. The plasma jezzail is as much a cultural signifier as a weapon (and it is for sure an effective weapon). It's time to hunt some political dissidents! Success will be rewarded with plumes of glory and silken garments of rank. Failure will be discreetly covered up by the clan matriarch. More pics: B This (Bombshell's Jamad) is the sort of rank our Huntress could aspire to: a statuesque Battle-Chief (or Cultural Magistrate, depending on how you translate the subtilities of the language). Robed with ceremonial silks and armed with jezzail, pistol, and glaive, she has broad authority over a planetary sector and considerable influence within her clan. The menfolk also have some value in Andromedan culture; an armored Dragoon (Bombshell Exile) wields heavy weaponry developed by a vassal species. Illyrian work, by the looks of it. The heavy armor indicates he has seen several successful skirmishes, and is a valuable fighter to protect. worth the investment. He He is also authorized to grow whiskers--a sign of clan rank! More pics: If they all play their cards right, they might even get an audience with Her Sovereignty Messalina XVI Herself!
  2. Finally got another of my Counterblast Lancer crew done, this time an Altanti Lanceguard. Really like the different species in this setting.
  3. Just a little desert cat with a very big gun. I was playing around with a very limited pallet.
  4. Part of getting back into painting after such a long absence involved painting figures that I found to be pure fun. As I greatly enjoy painting Pulp I decided to put together a team that used a mix of figures from Reaper and Counterblast. Reaper figures are so versatile, they can mix well with just about anything out there. Reaper figure #50129 sculpted by Patrick Keith Counterblast figure, sculpted by Patrick Keith Counterblast figure, sculpted by Patrick Keith Reaper figure, #59041, sculpted by Bob Ridolfi Counterblast figure, sculpted by Patrick Keith Patrick is one of my favourite sculptors as his work has so much character. Further, he's done so much work with Reaper, he's like Reaper Family to me. Thank you for looking.
  5. This month has been really busy, but I managed to at least get a couple more Mekkus done. These ones have a pair of Pulsar Rifles. And here is my Mekkus squad now. Still 3 more to paint from what came in the KS.
  6. I managed to get two more figures painted for my Lancers squad in May. First up we have the Captain, He's a Shrinaar, which I guess are a race of space-faring cat people. And we also have the "Veteran" H0pr Bot. He's seen some action and hasn't even had time to get the second hand replacement parts repainted.... Here's a shot of my Lancers squad at this point.
  7. I also managed to whip through a couple of Mekkus Aggressors. These are the version with twin Particle Beam weapons. Here they are with the Defender I'd already done.
  8. This is the first figure for the 2nd faction I'm painting up for Counterblast, the Mekkus. They are your classic all conquering robot race who turned on their creators and are not running rampant across the galaxy! I started with the Defender #1, a heavily armored defensive unit. Hopefully the fairly simple paint scheme will make it quick to get the whole squad painted up.
  9. And here is a H0pR Bot for my Lancers squad. He's a great fig, lots of ways to pose him. I had a lot of fun painting him up.
  10. Another member of my Lancers squad, this is the Human Brute. I had real problems with his eyes, so I decided "It's Sci-Fi" and gave him silver implants. Really happy with how the rest of him came out though.
  11. Finally got some more of my Counterblast Lancers crew done. Here's a Human Plugger. Overall I'm pretty happy with her. Eyes could have been better, just not with me painting them....at least they are pointed close to the same direction!
  12. The are the first of the Counterblast figures I've completed. This BdE Bot was painted a while ago, but I never got around to basing it. Finally got that done. This guy was fun to paint. Finally an eye big enough for me to work with, and no worries about having to line it up with another one . I kept the bases simple on these as Counterblast is a skirmish game I hope to be playing before too much longer.
  13. As some of you know I have become obsessed with the Pulp genre. To date I have confined my explorations to Pulp Sci-fi. So entranced am I by everything Pulp I am now exploring other areas of the genre. This is my first foray into Jungle Adventures and I find it a refreshing change of pace. The sculpts both come from Bombshell Miniatures and were sculpted by Patrick Keith. The Cave Girl is one of his Babes and the Spider is an Edo Tracker from his new Scif-fi game Counterblast, which is part of the Bombshell Babes family. The large plants are aquarium plants that I painted and are commonly used by painters within this genre. The flower patches are from Scenic Express and the leaves are from Secret Weapon. I carved the stone she is standing on from Super Sculpey. Thank you for looking.
  14. This is my diorama entry for the Spaceship Superstar Painting Challenge. I wanted to do something that was pure Pulp, simple and quick. The bots are from Counterblast, are 18mm and were sculpted by Patrick Keith. The spaceship is from Hydra, is 25mm and was sculpted by Steve Meli. The base is a one inch square plinth from the hobby shop, which I simply painted black. Since I made the switch from Fantasy to Moderns and Pulp, I've never been happier as a painter. In August I finished about 18 figures, never got frustrated and found more joy in this hobby than ever before. Thank you for looking.
