  1. The latest from my bench, Reaper Minis Sir Conlan. This is a character for my D&D game. Player requested muted colors but a contrasting blue cloak. What do you think? Did I succeed? As always C&C welcomed and encouraged.
  2. This is a bust from El Greco: Deus Vult / Militi Christi. I painted him as a Knight Hospitaller. Learned a lot on the way. There are a few white specks in the pics, I was taking them outside and this is actually not there. Also there is more depth than the pics show, some shadows are washed out by the camera. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/85635-deus-vult-militi-christi-bust-by-glitterwolf/ This one is going to be shipped off as a present to a certain person. It will be a surprise and I wonder how it will be received. Here he is.
  3. Howdy, Then, another Bones Crusader... Kev!
  4. Time to paint another bust. This one is from El Greco 1:12th scale and comes in a nice tin. A depiction of a seasoned Crusader. I will paint him as a Knight Hospitaller instead of the often seen Knight Templars. This means mine will have a Black Cape, A Red Surcoat and a White Cross.
  5. The rest of my Kickstarter for AEG's Thunderstone Quest came in. This was for an expansion that changed the player count from 2-4 to 1-6 as well as adding a cooperative mode. I'm not sure I'd want to play this game at 6 players unless it is cooperative because there is a lot of downtime when its not your turn. In cooperative mode, it seems that everyone goes at the same time, so that probably reduces down time. I didn't realize it at the time, but the expansion ALSO comes with two minis (6 were included in the base game so it wasn't strictly necessary). I also didn't realize that the monk had a mark on her forehead that I THINK is intentional (these aren't the best minis, as you can see from the crease down her back). I would have painted her a lighter skin tone so the mark would stand out better if I realized that earlier. I chose green for her since a nice yellow/orange color was already taken by one of the other minis I painted for this game and I wanted unique player colors. Likewise, I chose white for the crusader because all the good colors were taken and I could see him as a paladin type. Hopefully I don't get any more minis for this game because I'm running out of unique player colors.
  6. Howdy, Join the Crusade! Donations accepted, Kev!
  7. Howdy, Defend the faith! For the cause, Kev!
  8. Howdy, I enjoyed painting these... Kev!
  9. Another buddy wanted a down and dirty mini for his paladin. He asked for everything silver except the shield, which would be Templar style white with Red Cross. I had a very short time to paint and tried a bit of directional iridescence bc the armor glows purple when around hellborne demons and the like. Not my best work for sure, but it was a funny mini (why is there a bird on his head?) so thought I’d share a speed painted tabletop mini. Enjoy! Also, I’m interested in getting him back and finishing him up after Thanksgiving, so let me know how you would handle an “imperceptible purple glow, without losing the silvery plate look”... :)
  10. Ok , time to put that things in the show off section. Did not really know what to do with naming so I though that would be funny name haha, now up to you to decide which is what :D here last pic, did not find something suitable enough to add some exterior background so I just keep it simple here. Wip thread here : http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/81615-reaper-diorama-77254775507739977454/ Big thanks for the advice and feedback during the wip , special thanks to @Heisler , his advice helped me narrow down the scene to a state I could manage to move forward and progress on this. Each project is a learning experience :D ..one thing I won't do again is actually to start fight on 2 fronts, doing the scene while also doing the figure paint is a bit time consuming and make harder to focus. Since it's a reaper Diorama , I will add it to the yearly contest as well :D..
  11. I may have "disappeared" for a while. However, I still kept my eye on what was coming out from time to time, and I've always watched the Kickstarters with interest. So when these new Crusader sculpts showed up in whichever Bones Kickstarter they were presented in (3? Yeah, pretty sure it was 3), it kicked me straight in the nostalgia feels. The fact that the new ones are about 1000% more impressive than the old Warlord Knights, Unforgiven, and Ironspines really added to that. Because as expansive as my old Crusader army was, it probably would have been even bigger (because why not just entirely miss the point of a skirmish game, right Kel?) if the grunts of the faction looked like this. I really didn't like the old Crusader grunts all that much, and painting them was somewhat a chore. And then I forgot about them, and went on with my life. Until I saw this fella at my FLGS yesterday. Boom, instant nostalgia strikes again and I say to myself "one more, for old times sake". So I picked him up for a low-low price (gotta love Bones pricing), got him home, spent way too long straightening a very bent sword (gotta be ambivalent about Bones material), and then took the day and well, started and finished painting him up! And since I was kicking it old-school I decided that I would do ****-all with the pudding-base besides paint it and add some static grass. The result was oddly satisfying, actually. So, for your consideration: one more. For old time's sake.
  12. Finished my first metal mini. Took some time to get the chain mail the way I wanted.
  13. Hello again, everyone! I know it seems like forever since I posted anything over here, but this time I had a very good excuse: the miniature wasn't released yet, and therefore I couldn't show him off! However, now that mister crusader here officially released today, I want to share him with you all! He proved to be a major lesson in OSL (object source lighting, for any of the newer folks around!) for me, as that is a technique which I have not done very often before, so I made some mistakes and learned a lot. At the end of the day, though, I'm overall quite happy with how he turned out, and he proved to be very fun to paint! His armor was especially enjoyable, and I think I stumbled upon a color mix or two that I might try to use again in the future (provided I remember exactly which colors I used!). Also, his face is simply loaded with character, and I feel like he's ready to smite evildoers with some major holy vengeance!!! Thanks for looking, and I'll try to pick a next project which doesn't have to be under wraps so I can start up another WIP thread!
  14. As part of an MLK Weekend paint binge I painted several enemy NPCs for my upcoming Eberron campaign. One thing I never have enough of is Emerald Claw, especially since flail-wielders are fairly far between. I'm sad this guy isn't available with the flail in bones, but I hope to snag a bunch of the flail-hand from this model and then modify the different bones poses when they're available. Not that flails are necessary for the EC, but I like the flavor, and flails are the favored weapon for Blood of Vol, which the EC are associated with...so...anyway, rambleramblepedantramble. This guy I used the bare headed option, and gave him fancy gold-tone armor, so he can be a lieutenant of some kind. Tabletop quality, but I'm pretty happy with him. He looks ready to beat up some PCs if need be. C&C always welcome.
  15. Hi, Maybe someone can help me a bit. I ordered this bust. It will take a while before I paint it, bit already I'm considering possibilities. He is sold as a Teutonic Knight, I love the yellow/black cross with the eagle, but am not sure if I can pull it off. Considering the colours shown I want to ask : 1. Is it viable to paint the cape brown instead of white? 2. The red Innerhelmet..Would that be metal or leather? And my most important question 3. I know of the Knights Templar, White Livery with Red Cross, The Hospitallers , Black with white Cross and sometimes Red with white cross. But could I choose any of these colours? I was wondering if the helmet he's holding is a distinctive Teutonic one or if the other orders wore these too. I tried googling and am a history fan. But I'm not sure about this. Any thoughts from the people who are more into this period?
  16. Hello, for my first post I've decided to share my latest mini.
  17. Hey! I painted the models Saramonde, Crusaders Chronicler and Kyla, Bounty Hunter! And HERE you will find a post on my blog!
  18. Here is another one. I have lots. Just not the best photos. The minis themselves are now where we play and not here at home with me. They have since been based. They are game minis.
  19. Long time no post. So here I go again. Another party member so another character waiting to be killed. His name is Chval (can be translated as "praise") and he is the witcher from the fire order. These boys call themselves "Hearts of fire". More like "farts on fire" to me. As a character I never liked him, as he was real phoney. He had a horse, while we were walking, he had a sword, while we had only sticks.... But during our last game we kind of find a way to each other....(un)fortunately my character has died, so the friendship was over in an hour :) Hope you will like him more than I did :) And again better res picture over here I need to paint my new character now... Still can't find the proper miniature.
  20. Here's a quick paint that's getting posted as a "complete for the moment" piece. As you can see, there's plenty of room on the base to add some scenery; I just don't currently have what I want. He'll at least get a dropped weapon, maybe a shield, and of course some grass and such. I didn't want bucket fulls of blood, so he just got a light application of red around the entry/exit wounds.
  21. Two Reaper Bones I painted recently for gaming. They're just tabletop jobs, but they were fun to paint! This one has an insert base for when the D&D character is enlarged.
  22. This mini is titled 14352: Unforgiven, Crusader Grunt, but I swear on the blister it said Templar Knight or something. This guy was sitting on the rack at my LGS for months, and I felt sorry for him. So I bought him. I originally painted him up for one of the PCs in my OD&D game. But the character died before I finished painting D: This is my most recent mini, so please give me all your comments and criticism you can spare! Painted with Vallejo, he seems a bit dark to me. It was REALLY HARD to paint the decals on his shoulder and on his front because the consistency of thinned paint is just too watery and goes into the cracks instead of on the ridges. Sorry I couldn't get you a good camera shot from other angles. Tips truly appreciated. MG
