  1. Cthulhu Wars: Onslaught Three, featuring a faction called "The Ancients" has just been announced by Petersen Games, set to launch July 17th. EDIT: starts at 8 AM CST Monday July 17th.
  2. Please help guys, I should be done with this guy by now but I just need the purple to POP, I think. Maybe something else needs doing?
  3. Finished Cthulhu on Saturday, I think I'm learning to overcome my fear of highlighting too far, I still didn't go as light as people said I should. Some say you can go practically to white, but I am very hesitant to try that. I think I've made progress though. C&C welcome! Soft Lighting--- Harsh Lighting, to show detail---- And WIP thread if anyone is interested...
  4. Got my start on Cthulhu last week. Did a prime in black, then zenithal pre-shade white from above. Purple from below, then green from above. Liking the effect so far, think I'm done with the airbrush, gonna move on to regular painting.
  5. Hey guys. I'm back after having my wisdom teeth removed :/ nasty surgery had to have some recovery. But I started painting again and I was wondering; am I getting speckling here? It used to be really bad but I diluted down a touch and I think it's better. Could use some help.
  6. Alright go these guys to a serviceable spot for a test game tomorrow. Forgot that there was a third one, I know I had it when priming and pre-shading, probably the hounds of tindalos again. DAMN THOSE CORNERS. Btw does anyone have any suggestions, beyond "just don't touch them," for playing games with half painted minis? I don't want to varnish them and was hoping there was a better way. @Talae I know you play while wip, do you do anything special?
  7. LAST ONE FOR THE NIGHT I PROMISE. Sorry I had a bunch of stuff I hadn't taken any pics of in ages so I figured I'd dump them all on here. Thanks for any c&c is offered, you guys are great!
  8. Final part of the Black Goat faction down. Tell me what you guys think!
  9. Just finished the Mi-Go from the black goat faction and thought I would put up pictures of them and the cultists and ghouls I finished before. C&C always appreciated!
  10. Alright so finished Shub Niggurath of the Black Goat faction for Cthulhu Wars. I think she turned out well, and this is probably the most success I've had with highlighting so far. Pretty happy with her. WIP here:
  11. Took a break from painting over the holidays, now I'm back to the Black Goat faction from Cthulhu Wars. Started on the Mi-Go without a clear color scheme in mind and I think it shows. Any ideas what I can do to fix would be greatly appreciated! This one is the flag model that I was trying color schemes out on and I think the one I ended up with looks disconcerting but not in a good way. And these are the other 3, basecoated, pre shaded, with purple underlighting, and some drybrushing.
  12. So got my first airbrush yesterday and was messing about figuring out how to use it. Today I had my first attempt at basecoating and basic shading with it. Dont think I have the dilution quite right, but I'm not sure which way to go. C&C appreciated! 5
  13. Whoop WHOOP, first part of the big commission done. They look pretty nice lined up like this I think the customer is gonna be happy!
  14. Finished the last of the Yellow Sign faction, got a group pic that I'm gonna upload later but these are the final wave! WIP thread:
  15. This broccolien guy, I swear. I go to paint the bandages on him and I'm like wait that's not a bandage, that's a tentacle. So I painted the bandages I could make out and the skin the same color, planning on doing something with the skin later, maybe a touch of grey. I have no idea where I'm gonna start with the tentacular mass. What the even broccoli.
  16. So I could probably have touched up the upper carapace of these guys a bit, added some more highlights, I don't think there's quite enough contrast on most of them, but I need to get these guys done and I still have the undead to do. So I varnished them and I think they turned out pretty well. C&C always appreciated!
  17. Show off might be a bit of a misnomer, I'm not the happiest with these guys, mostly putting this up for tips on what I could do better next time. Paste from final post in WIP thread: Alright "finished" with these guys. When I say "finished" I mean I'm overcoming my perfectionism to move on to something else because they're serviceable. Tried to use some speed painting techniques, but still took way too long, need to work on that. If anyone's got any tips on how I could have made them better without, layering/glazing/something else that takes forever, they would be much appreciated!
  18. Started Cthulhu Wars for a friend today and I think I need some help with the Yellow Sign cultists. I'm starting with the robes and I feel like something went wrong somewhere along the line, not sure exactly how to fix it. Base coated black, then drybrushed ochre through yellow, then went back through glazing ochre through yellow. Maybe a dark brown wash will help. Could use some help.
  19. Finished the big H finally. Pretty happy with how he turned out! Sorry for the picdump, it's a big figurine, I didn't want to miss anything.
  20. So I'm painting Cthulhu Wars base set for a friend, Just finished my first mini, thought I'd put up a thread here with the completed work. If anyone has any comments or suggestions or things they'd have done different, I'd love to hear it. I know I have a lot to learn and I'm always striving to get better. Yellow Sign - King in Yellow WIP thread: Finished Pics:
  21. So I've got this big boy looking pretty good, Just airbrush, gloss, dark purple wash, and touched up the eyes. Planning on doing the iris' and some light reflection off the black bobbles, also doing the mouth and ear-mouths (?) a dark red. I'm scared to do anything else but Since it's the Yellow Faction, I'd like to have some yellow highlights. I feel that Dry-brushing would be too violent, and I'm not sure how to start with layering such a different color. Any Suggestions much appreciated!
  22. Allright so I was painting and then the idea occurred to me to try to paint gore on the wings. Needless to say I got carried away and I'm not *quite* sure how to make it look good again. Please help! Third pic specifically, I'm fairly happy with the other parts.
  23. My goal was to keep this under 5 hrs for painting (mold line removal and greenstuff time not included). I ended up at 3.75hrs. I am not sure if he is 100% done, but he is at least done for now. Breakdown of time spent painting: Green Liner - 0.5 hrs Cthulhu - 3 hrs (most on tail and face) Rock - 0.5 hrs Water - 0.25hrs Colors used: PAINT SET: Cthulhu Faction Cthulhu Skin: Viper Green - Reaper - 9228 Green Liner - Reaper - 9308 Pale Green - Reaper - 9012 Peacock Green - Reaper - 9226 Cthulhu Eyes: Marigold Yellow - Reaper - 9007 Fire Orange - Reaper - 9006 Sun Yellow - Reaper - 9008 Linen White - Reaper - 9061 Cthulhu Rocks: Weathered Stone - Reaper - 9087 Stone Grey - Reaper - 9086 Shadowed Stone - Reaper - 9085 Misty Grey - Reaper - 9090 Cthulhu Water: Surf Aqua - Reaper - 9078 Marine Teal - Reaper - 9077 Deep Ocean - Reaper - 9076 Blue Liner - Reaper - 9066 Ghost White - Reaper - 9063 WIP of this and soon to be others found here. Feedback is appreciated.
  24. So this is a Cthulhu Wars base that Vegascat sent me, (one of two), that I was painting as a piece of scatter terrain... It was supposed to be something easy and quick to fiddle with while other things were drying.... But like so many of my projects, it kind of grew.... And a close up of the Ivy WiP here Thanks for looking!
