A return to the cult of the PIPER IN THE WOODS! The cult has developed organically from a simple witch-cult as I add minis to it, and now we have a whole theme of masks, horns, purple, and miasmas. As such, the Deathclaw from Nolzur's seemed to fit in, in the same way the froghemoth fits in with the cultists of THE HUNGER IN THE GULF. First, though, let's meet the cult leader! Definitely similar to the other female cultist from Crooked Dice, but this one has a fancy staff! Procession through the dark woods: And awful supplications before this lesser servant of the Horned Lord, the Masked Master! He of the scything claws and empurpled hands! He, the famished, rampant beneath the moon! He of the green ichor! And yet this terror is but a lesser servitor of the Power he adumbrates. Note: I modified the Deathclaw with a demon skull from GW's box of skulls, because the original sculpt, while horned and bone-masked, wasn't quite horned and bone-masked ENOUGH for my tastes.

She's a cool little sculpt from one of those bulk enemies lots on Amazon (works great as a PC/NPC as well). This was a pretty quick paint job. My main goal was to try out some different color schemes (I was falling into a rut). I'm not sure where the idea for the toothpaste-green dress came from, but I think it works. This particular mini recently got to come to life in one of my homebrew D&D campaigns as a homemade NPC - Alcinia, the haughty quest-giving wizard living in Neverwinter. As always, I'd be interested in any thoughts/criticism on the model.

I've been working on a Call of Cthulhu variant set in the mid-1600s, All Of Them VVitches. This provides lots of opportunity for cults and cultists! We've seen some of them hitherto. Here are a couple more votaries of the PIPER IN THE WOODS--Reaper's Dark Creeper (02886) with a Gw Skullz mask added, and 02165, Gromtar the Foul. Here's Gromtar. I get a very 'Lovecraft ghoul/ Clark Ashton Smith Mordiggan cultist' vibe off the sculpt. Our Dark Creeper: More angles: They've come out to meet with their colleagues, similarly robed and with horned masks. But what is this they have called down? Behold! the PIPER IN THE WOODS approaches! Quis est iste qui venit?!

I barely received my last campaign pledge from Midlam that already it has something that caught my interest. Sisters of the Kraken Cult. The female counterparts of the previous "Onslaught of the Cult of the Kraken Lord" and "Cultists of the Kraken Lord". (I now have some regret of not getting it) What's also interesting is the optional add-on of fish folk. Brinewind is going to have some interesting neighbors.

More from May - the cultist pair 77518. I also added in my other recently painted pair (77351) with cirlce and I think they make a nice grouping.

Robes? Check. Horned skull mask? Check. Air of furtive evil? Check! Dulkathar here is a perfect fit for the cult of the Piper in the Woods, last seen HERE. The word "skulking" was made for this character, He'd be a great Wizard Whately stand-in for Call of Cthulhu, too. Even more tattered than his co-conspirator and co-religionist. Together, what mightn't they call up? or Whom? And with such an ally, what vengeance might they not visit upon the settlements nearby? Are there any punishments those Puritans don't deserve, and that full well? Guest appearance by a nearly-finished Tree of Despair, of which more later.

Dawn at St. Toad's Mere. The worshipers gather by the dolmen. With scroll and orb, bell and blade, chalice, keys, and tome. But what manner of worshipers are these, so pale and clammy? And why does that one's hand bend so? Is that...is that an arm, or something else? Lo! a foul miracle! They have become as their unwholesome master, transmuted into a kind of glory through their dark rites. Some still retain hands, or things in the semblance of hands, the better to wield tools built by and for hands, but others have transcended or transgressed beyond even these. Soon they will renounce limbs and spines altogether, shed their robes and live to writhe and squirm beneath the mire with their lord forever. These are fantastic fellows--something about their eyeless fleshy heads makes them even more enigmatic and eerie than your average illithid. What are they up to? and what will their rituals bring upon the troubled earth? For all your eldritch cult needs. Could work as an alien species in a pinch. (The cultist with the dagger does not come with a bell; that's a repurposed earring back and pin.)

So finally got the courage to post some minis that I have finished over the last few months. Here are some of the Yuan-Ti Nagendra metal minis I have always really liked. I have the archer and halberd still to paint up that I have from my most recent order, but am taking a break from the scaly creatures for a bit. I know I need to work on my highlighting but any other feedback is welcome.

A figure I started on november 2018 but never finished. Since I plan to finish way more miniatures in 2019, I thought this was good low hanging fruit. It's a cool sculpt from Hasslefree Miniatures kickstarter.

I need to get onto some Reaper figures I think but in the meantime here is a thief from North Star for Frostgrave. Black gloves and boots, London Grey cloak, Royal purple accents. Then an Army Painter black/ "dark tone" wash over everything except the skin, which was strong tone. Base is green stuff on a washer, made using the Greenstuff World cobblestone roller. Again once you get the hang of it and follow their videos on YouTube these come out very well and saves me from my usual problem of not doing enough on the bases. Am going to have some open ruins but wanted something with lots of cover, but the risk of becoming a trap.

I picked this fellow out of my increasingly vast collection because I figured he would be a simple speed-paint while I work on a more involved multi-piece project and, hey, who doesn't need a cultist on their shelf? He was finished in two short sessions, yay! I ended up liking this guy a lot more than I was expecting with such a simple subject and painting approach; I guess I'm learning to appreciate more subtle color palates as time goes on. I think I'll be picking up the Reaper bones cultists (with circle) to give him some buddies. Painted primarily with the dark elf skin, dusky skin, and vampyric skin triads, with nightmare black (one of my all time favorite colors) for good measure. I was going for a dark and generic color palate, but I wanted his skin to have a creepy pallor to reflect his life in the shadows. Comments are always appreciated Full disclosure: I edited a single white pixel in one photo that was bugging me. not sure what it was, it wasn't on the mini itself....

Just finished the Mi-Go from the black goat faction and thought I would put up pictures of them and the cultists and ghouls I finished before. C&C always appreciated!

Whoop WHOOP, first part of the big commission done. They look pretty nice lined up like this I think the customer is gonna be happy!

Show off might be a bit of a misnomer, I'm not the happiest with these guys, mostly putting this up for tips on what I could do better next time. Paste from final post in WIP thread: Alright "finished" with these guys. When I say "finished" I mean I'm overcoming my perfectionism to move on to something else because they're serviceable. Tried to use some speed painting techniques, but still took way too long, need to work on that. If anyone's got any tips on how I could have made them better without, layering/glazing/something else that takes forever, they would be much appreciated!

I have yet to assemble a complete figure from any of the Frostgrave sprues of plastic parts, so I thought I'd start slow with a head swap. Enter Anval Theicedamned, Evil Warrior. His head is just begging to be chopped off. I figured I'd swap one hooded head for another so I chose what appeared to be an armored hooded head from the cultists sprue and after chipping away at Anval's neck area, applied the super glue and commenced to hold it in place for several minutes. Yes, there is a better way, and it involves drilling and pinning things. Bah, details. It eventually stuck and I decided on a paint scheme. Much metallics of various kinds. Sadly I only have a few. And a non traditional skin color. This guy with no visible face lends itself well to an exotic or alien race. Also, there's some nice detail on that axe. I decided it must be some kind of magic weapon, perhaps of the air, storm, lightning element kind? So I applied an unusual color and effect on the blade. Sparking snow and yes, alien goo. Also tried to give him a lightning tattoo in alien goo on the back. Here is the finished piece. So how convincing is the new head? A view of the axe And tat

Hello there all, New member first post.....thought I would share some cultists I recently completed.

These two were just left out of my group painting of the "Frostgrave: Forgotten Pacts" set.

I did a quick job on a couple of the North Star plastic Frostgrave Cultists this week, so we would have some for the kick-off of our Thaw of the Lich Lord campaign tomorrow (weather permitting). I really like these North Star plastic kits, though I felt this set had more undead skeletal parts in it than I would have preferred since I wanted it mainly to make cultists and not skeletal warriors.

The small gaming community that got it's first two legs early last year is starting to flourish over here. :) Gathered a few people for DnD 5th. edition, too, now. I've made myself a Warlock. He will be drawing his strength from a Great Old One, only referred to as the King in Yellow. ^^ Guess what book his pact of the tome is inspired from. Hint: It's bound in human flesh, and inked in blood..

I'm continuing to play around with darker reds and grabbed a cultist for my next test subject. Scalecolor 35 Deep Red was used as the mid-tone as a point of reference for those of you with that paint set. Anyway, he was painted fairly quickly for tabletop though I do think the face gives the sculpt some fun character. Looking under the hood I see some eyes, but decided he looked better without them painted in as it adds depth to his hood. He's not based yet, but I think I'll save up a few more minis and just have a basing party in the future. I also had the stone circle sitting out and gave it a quick paint today as well. I'm not sure where I've stashed his partner in crime, but I'll take a group shot once he's located and painted.
