  1. Right, so while I wait for my Bones I'm going to attempt to do a WIP for the stuff I'm working through. I'm generally useless at taking progress pics so this will be a new experience for me. On the table at the moment I have my SDE monsters as a distraction and this... The first job was / is cleaning and assembly, so after a good scrub in soapy water I started to put together the main body. The fit was pretty bad and to assemble the 3 parts that I have already I had to boil and bend a few sections so that the sides and the spine meshed together even remotely. There are some gaps in there still but I intend going back in a filling them from the inside. The model comes with a clear plastic flying stand as well as a scenic resin one, so I'm going to use the resin on as otherwise whats the point? Here's the whole kit, minus the flying stand, awaiting my attentions, I've undercoated the inside of the mouth so I can paint that prior to assembly, I'll seal it off when finished with a light coat of varnish and then paint the rest of the fig when its all assembled. A dry fit of the parts has shown theres a hell of a lot more filling to be done once the 'face' gets put on, so I'm hoping my meagre putty pushing skills won't stand out too much on it. Its a pretty daunting job for me at the moment Still not sure what colour to paint it, I like the red scheme but I'm tempted to do a different route, maybe a deep black / purple up to a red highlight, not sure.... As I only get to paint at night I'm scared to get going on it as tired eyes make mistakes, maybe it will become a weekend job.
  2. This has been an incredible Sculpt to Paint. It started off as "Use a color I haven't used", and suddenly took off on its own. Thank you for the insight, suggestions, and inspiration that the forum has provided. Here is my "Autumn" Wood Elf Archer. C/C always appreciated !
  3. I am awaiting the arrival of my florescent desk lamp sometime today. As I said when I posted Lucius to the show off...I'm off to paint something DIFFERENT. I think this is quite different..ROFL. This is the Frog Bishop from Dark Sword Miniatures. I am looking forward to painting it. Its bigger; but just as challenging as the 25 mm, and the details are fantastic. So, here is what his Grace looks like. He's primed.

  5. I'm maintaining two personal WIP's on purpose. I want to keep my Reaper Projects together in one place. Mainly because this is a Reaper Forum and I want to be certain that the balance of my work favours Reaper. This is the quickest way for me and for them to know that. Secondly, I hate clutter. A single catch all WIP will drive me bonkers because it will become crowded up with too many projects. PROJECT #1 Stonehaven Gnomes Priestess Page 1 I'm finally getting round to painting up my Heroe's of Sprocketshire Gnomes from Stonehaven. These are so terribly cute, I just love them and now wish I had gotten the entire collection. I have Sprocketshire and McKrakken's Glory Squad. First up is the Priestess from Heroes of Sprocketshire. I can't find her name in the Character Bio sheet, so I'll name her when she's done. The basing and my whole approach to these figures is based on the work I've seen done by fellow forum member Catdancer. I've been inspired by his work since I came here and I hope to achieve something approaching his work. At the very least, I would hope they "sing" in a voice he would recognize. She is almost there, but she needs a bit more work. More highlighting is needed on her boots, the gem needs more work and there needs to be more contrast on the stone she is standing on (which is made from a piece of garden mulch). Also I think I need to add a very, very tiny bit of flower to cover the stems of the mushrooms. This will be difficult as I make them from the heads of a pin and they are quite tiny. Further, I feel the base is still lacking some indefinable something. It's just "off" and I know it's not "there" yet. I will have to let it percolate a bit and see what I can come up with. I like these so well, I could paint an army of them and just might do so when they become available in the online store.
  6. Here's a mini that I painted up for Gencon's painting competition. I was rather pleased with how he came out, but this year's competition was pretty stellar and he didn't come home with anything. I've also posted him to CMON for those of you who care to vote. Anyway, here are some pictures:
  7. My wife bought this for me a couple of Christmases ago and I finally got around to painting it for her. I'm pretty proud of it. My detail work still leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm very happy with the blending on the sword and the cloak.

  9. Hi, Sorry if this has been posted already. Dark Sword posted a series of photos on their Facebook page on April 16th of their visit to Mr. Martin's house. His miniatures room is whimper inducing. The dioramas blow my mind. Worth a look if you haven't seen it already: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.490103917709505.1073741826.166253593427874&type=1 (I just finished the third volume, cus I don't got no HBO. Better than the second one IMHO.) Cheers.
