  1. Painted her to be a vampiric white witch! The Violet Witch is an Elvin protector to the forests. Not quick to trust most, and will kill as quick as wolfsbane if prompted. For some reason the metal around the Jewel on her staff is showing up hardcore blue. I only lightly dusted the inner area, but all that metal is showing up as blue in pictures compared to in person. And I have no clue why. Lol There's more pictures uncensored in my group at this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/447509039179230/permalink/531957040734429/
  2. Beginning my theorizing for ReaperCon. I originally liked the Incubus and was heading toward making it primarily focus around him but was having trouble finding something to work with other than just landing on something. Then I figured he could be in a duel with another winged being. Then I got to the point where I was thinking the Darkspawn Succubus might make for a good opponent for our teenage boy... so I ordered them. So I could discuss this with my mentor, I took some approximate photos for a discussion point: And by the time my lesson rolled around, I was thinking I could call it something like: We talked about how to work around this and I have a better understanding of where and why I can and should do some things. And ways to show what I am trying to convey more clearly. This was very very helpful. As I get into dealing with the figures and bringing this to life, I'll try to show what we talked about and why I am doing them. Let the countdown begin! 187 Days till ReaperCon...
  3. Looking at the 06180 Darkspawn Imps for a project (I know, I have too many already, but have you seen my House?!?)... but have a question and no one seems to have really painted or mentioned them, or else I'm searching poorly. Surely, somewhere, someone has bought these. Mostly I just want to know if there are only 2 variations in this pack of 8 or if those two in the photo are just a sampling and there is more variety. $39.99 is more than I want to risk at this time as I'm not actually trying to field an army and need variety. The good one (14365 Darkspawn Imp) is a solo, but I would like 3-5 Imps if they are different. If there are only the two sculpts with 4 of each of them, then I'm probably going to just get the single Imp and work something else out. Anyone know one way or the other?
  4. Inspired by the base that was given to me and wanted something hellish to go on top. I picked out Mastema mostly because he is a pretty cool sculpt and also because I have trouble hacking around those minis with pre-sculpted bases. Playing around with colors, not quite how I thought he was going to turn out, but I liked that I tried to challenge myself with something different. Still learning and growing with this painting thing. Hope you enjoy.
  5. Does anyone have stats (data card) for the 14333 Darkspawn Succubus figure? It is not in the datacard search :(
  6. Alright. While I was sick earlier I started to paint this guy up as I wanted to paint something different from the standard minis I paint. I am actually fairly pleased with how he turned out. Now with better pictures.... This back view just makes him look so evil The front now
  7. Here's the first mini in a Darkspawn army I'm building for next ReaperCon. I'm a pretty slow painter, so I've got to start early. Since the theme next year is sci-fi, the reddish base is meant to evoke a Martian landscape.
  8. Finally got my Bathalian based. Went a bit lazy on this one. The idea was a simple dirt foundation base with a slime trail. For the slime trail, I simply glopped superglue everywhere around the bathalian. Also helped set him to the base, obviously. I used a superglue activator on the glue, since I didn't want to wait a long while for it to dry (there was a lot of glue laid down). It kept it from drying quite clear, but I think I kind of like the effect. I'll think more on it, but for now, I'm satisfied. As mentioned in my WIP thread, the back scales were done in MSP Christmas Wreath (quickly becoming my favorite green) with shading from PP Bloodstone, and Vallejo Model Color Fluorescent Green for the edging. The belly scutes were done with the new bone triad that came with the second paint set from the last kickstarter, and the other light bits were done with the same, except bathalian chiton taking the place of the midtone. Darker bits were shaded with GW agrax earthshade. Claws and armspikes were done with muddy brown and walnut brown. I thought about doing the back of his cranium in MSP Brains Pink, but I decided it would stand out too much against the rest of the mini. Finally, a scale pic with Tox the wizard standing in for Sir Forscale.
  9. This will be another long tale, fraught with peril, passion, and whisky. Let's start with a pic: Here's a Bathalian Centurion for my Darkspawn army, with his hands in the air like he just don't care. I got on a tear of painting with my super Cthulhu-ey force, and fought some great battles with it. Well, forum member wildbill reads my posts, and being a fellow Warlord player and enthusiast, drafts an army list of Dwarves for my friend Dalton to play against my super cool, nearly finished painting, jumping up and down that I finished anything force. So the table is readied: This is some terrain from GF9 Battlefield in a box, Mesa, and Crystals, a trophy crystal I looted from the trash at the office, and to really drive home the Cthulhu, a jellyfish in a crystal in the middle of the table. My first sin, pride. My second sin: So my force is on the table: Dalton's dwarf force, with many proxies and a large, unassembled, unpainted Stone Spirit in the middle deploys his line across the board. Here we are perched at the end of the first turn of movement. The damanable Griffon is into my Fodder, and I'm already sweating bullets. Here is what happened later, with my reporting to follow. I'll give the play by play in a little while, I'm clocking back in to work from lunch, but it will happen.
