Howdy, Repaint... Kev!

So, I've been a participant in an exchange type thing on Twitter for quite a while now. It is known as "The Box of Many Things" and is a low cost to no cost geeky, nerdy Secret Santa type exchange that takes place every other month. this is for my April Thinger. We use the term "Thinger" to describe those who are in the exchange, specifically the person you are sending to or are receiving from, which are rarely the same person. They even have international group for those outside of the states, too. Art is a common thing to send as it is very low cost to make and usually low cost to mail too! So behold my badly repainted D&D Minis! So, my Thinger plays two PCs, a Druid and and a Dryad Warlock and I was going to try to paint a mini for one of those but ran into a roadblock. I couldn't find a mini for either of them! Also, they are an excellent artist and provided ARTWORK of their PCs for reference! I wouldn't be able to do justice for them at all! So I dug through the 4 pages of info they gave to find something I could paint successfully and not take far too long to do so! And I found that The Druid likes to become a Dire Wolf a lot and the Dryad has a Winged Cat for a Familiar so i got to work! Here they are! Hope you enjoyed them! GF

So, was bored and wanted to paint something to take along for my GenCon trip as a Prize for some DDM Guild events. So, I saw the Planetar from the most recent DDM set and thought, it had a cool pose and a bad paintjob! So I decided to try and fix that. The Wings look a lot better in person. Also, whoever thought that style of Flying Post was a good idea should most likely be fired and never allowed to be in change of miniature anything ever again! Took about an hour and a half to paint it. GF

Finally I'm done! Had started this earlier this year, but got a bit delayed by the Sir Forscale competition. I blame/thank ReaperBryan for getting me involved in it, it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about what I was able to do. After that was the busy Hallowe'en season, and since then there's been some personal issues preventing me. But I managed to buckle down and got it done, so I'm happy with that. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. While I wish I had more time and patience to work on the bones themselves, I just wanted it done. I learned a lot through the experiments I put this one through, and on the last day I even started using a homemade wet palette. Quite pleased with it, I'll be using it a lot more. When I saw the dynamic pose of the skeleton I thought it was too good not to use it in some way, hence the stepping over the log. Not sure if I'll start on another DDM miniature that I have ready, or start on some of my Bones backlog. Time will tell, I suppose. Hope you enjoy it all!

It's me again! After my semi-successful bout with the DDM Baaz Draconian, I decided to pick out another victim subject to experiment some more techniques and paints on. Aaaand let's see what's behind Door Number Two!: What we have here are two DDM Harbinger set Skeletons. The one on the left is for reference, while the one on the right has already been primed. Not a bad lot for what it was used for, but they completely missed the paint on the face of the latter one. Though they're interesting figures, for skeletons they look a bit too.......shiny. Sure, they could be newly stripped corpses, but what's the likelihood of that? And why would you keep perfectly good armour on such easily destroyed mooks? Let's see if we can make him look as neglected as those miniatures on your Shelf of Shame!

So, I come before you with a Challenging Dilemma. I was Commissioned by a representative of the European branch of the D&D Minis Guild to provide a couple of prizes for their Championships in August, as well as a couple of minis needed by that individual for personal use. About a month ago, I was contacted by someone from the North American Branch to do the same thing for theirs! So, my dilemma is this, how do I do both groups justice in the time I have left? Due to Shipping times, I need the European items ready to go by late June at least. That means I'll have time to at least finish the NA Items. But, unfortunately, that means I will not be a part of the Summer Exchange this year. So, As this is a WIP Thread, I am of course posting pics of my work so far;) hear they are... First up is King Snuure, the Fire Giant King! He has one of the best Sculpts of the early DDM Run and catches a lot of the Flavor of the Iconic NPC, including a Cloak made from a White Dragon's Hide! Been wanting to repaint him for ages and finally the time has come. The Human Paladin from the Icons of the Realms first set. The DDM Guild has been releasing stats for the WizKids Line recently and the Pally here is a pretty good piece for the Skirmish game. I painted one for GenCon last year. This one is going to the European Champs. Snig the Axe here. Never did find out if Snig is the Goblin or the Weapon he weilds:P But its a cool little guy and has details i did not notice til now. The Feymire Crocodile. Part Reptile, Part Plant all Sorts of Nasty! Not the best Stats in the Game, but an awesome mini sculpt and a seriously BAD Stock paint job. I'm fixing that with my repaint. Just base coats and the start of Shading here, but already leaps and bounds beyond what it used to look like! So far so good. But I still have several more to work on that I cannot reveal quite yet. This a Dungeons and Dragons prepainted miniature that I have repainted. I kept the colors close to what the figure originally came with from the factory, I just tried to neaten things up. I have no idea why she had purple hair, but I went with it. Maybe it's the whole 'dangerous/poisonous things are brightly colored in nature' thing? I used a lot of different things on the base; I wanted her to look like she was moving through an area of swamp/jungle. Tabletop paint job; I figure she'll look pretty good as the leader of a snake/lizard themed warband for song of Blades and Heroes. C&C is always welcome.

This is a DDM prepainted figure, the Ogre Ravager that I repainted. The only thing I changed was to cut off all the blood drops that were on the axe blade and his leg. I painted him last weekend during Inarah's paint binge. The stone with the runes on it is a press mold I made of part a resin base to add a little detail to the base. Front: Back: Close up of face and axe; I tried to go for a rusty look to the weapon.

A few quick repaints. I'm quite pleased with how the gnoll turned out with such little effort. Barghest Savagers (the photo is to bright but the minis aren't important enough for me to fix it :) Gnoll Barbarian Wolf Spiders

I was on a roll so I managed to finish another one. Nothing fancy, brown/grey + quickshade for the hull and some more attention directed to the eye and teeth. Easy paintjob with a pleasing result :) And the Beholder Lich as a bonus (I finished this two weeks ago)!
