  1. Hellborn Troll On a Plane of Volcanic Glass This brute of a troll obviously has some extraplanar blood coursing through his veins. He walks the the wasteland of his abyssal home across sheets of volcanic glass that stretch unending. Dust flows around his footsteps and he holds aloft a large shard of the glass to summon his clan with his demonic power. This Warlord miniature is pretty friggin awesome and was waiting on further inspiration to get from the shelf of shame pack in to my queue. I told him no for some time. There is quite a bit of real dust ingrained with the sand on his base. But with my recent ... lets be optimistic and call it ... flood of painting he finally made it back to the fore. You can check out the WIP post to see everything I did to get him here. WIP He shall now join the ranks of his fellow giant-kin to stand against the machinations of those grievous creatures who call themselves "adventurers." Enjoy. Check him out in the Inspiration Gallery. (approved) Added to Thrym's Index of Reaper Miniatures & Thrym's General Show Off List
  2. Howdy, Here is the Ape Demon I did a while back... Kev!
  3. Howdy, What was I thinking... Thanks for the gander, Kev!
  4. I decided that the Wolf demon needed a better tail so I took one from the giant scorpion and borged it onto him. Minor greenstuff blending at the join to follow and I need to repair some weirdness with his right lower leg.
  5. A couple shots of Virina. No blog post as this was painted up well before I decided to start the blog and just now got around to giving her a coat of Testor's Dullcote. You'll notice I left the eyes black, this was intentional...I wanted to give the impression of having no "soul." If you've ever looked at a picture of a serial killer and seriously studied their eyes, they often have a very lifeless look....I wanted to exaggerate this to the extreme. Front Image NSFW!
  6. For a while I had been pondering what figure to use for the White Gorilla creature from the Frostgrave rules. Then one day, while looking for something else, I spotted the Ape Demon figure from the Bones II Lesser Demons set, and I thought, "Why not?" Maybe the White Gorillas of Frostgrave are the descendants of some bizarre experiment of a misguided wizard long ago who thought it would be a good idea to cross a bat with a gorilla. (Maybe so he could quickly run errands for him through the crowded city. That's why he has the one big ear; (so he can hear his master call him home), and the big hands so he can carry all the grocery shopping!) Over the centuries the wings have become flightless, but they still make the creature look fearsome. :) I really like how he turned out. And I think he fills the role of descendant of bizarre wizard's experiment just as well as he did as his intended use as a demon! :) Step by step painting article on my blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2016/09/ape-demon-bones-ii-figure.html
  7. Sing the song! "I'll be there for you...!" :-) So, after the completion of their awesome campaign, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe were booked on a gig that was simultaneously more serious and less comfortable. These three took forever to paint-- I experimented with implied lighting from the magma, but am less than pleased with the results because they don't look like the lava is lighting them at all. Instead, the shadows I attempted to paint on the facing-away sides just seem to look muddy. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
  8. Semira Marise (SKU HFX023) is another great sculpt from Kev White at Hasslefree Miniatures. When I started painting the Hasslefree Lenores earlier this week, I also started this miniature, so she was finished in record time.
  9. Been thinking about painting these guys for ages. Finally pulled the proverbial finger out and started on them. Am going for that mottled cyanotic dead flesh look. Something a little gross. My only regret is that I missed a mould line on one. Might have to try and mask it somehow. Maybe once I add the final wet gooey layer to the minis. Thinking of using a mix of crackle and grit paint on the bases to make something with a hellish feel to it.
  10. So in my last Reaper order I ordered some big shiny stuff for other people, but for myself, I ordered a few translucent Bones, as I've had my eye on them for a long elf time. As I have the translucent dragon from Bones 3 eventually making its way to me, I decided to get some practice in too. So there was a thread around at one point about using Tamiya Clears on the translucent Bones minis, so I launched into painting mine with a similar approach =] I also got fed up with my SLR and its hatred of shooting indoors, so woke up its inbuilt flash and cobbled together the world's most slapdash flash diffuser, and was ultimately kinda pleased with the results. Annoyingly, a lot of photos are underexposed because they look fine on my camera, but the screen on that is weirdly bright and everything tends to be dark as all hell when moved onto my laptop. It is possible my laptop screen is funky, so I do apologise if the following image is now hugely overbright *facepalm* He's painted with Red and Shadow Tamiya clears, and then drybrushed very lightly with Citadel's Genestealer Purple, Khorne Red, and Evil Sunz Scarlet. His eyes are Evil Sunz =] I'm actually really quite proud of how he's come out.
  11. Was given this for a speed paint for a game a friend is running. They wanted a demonic warrior type. Basically Conan the Evil Barbarian. So came up with this. Went for a weather dusty look for everything. Idea was group come across this beast wandering the desert. Decided to get some use out of GW's Blood for the Blood God technical paint for some quick gore and spatter. Is nice to paint something as have been for the last month and a half splitting my time between work and packing up house in Sydney and then travelling to new home (to be) three hours away and doing renovations on place on weekends. Which unfortunately is not currently set up for painting miniatures or leaving me with much time to paint.
  12. Sorry, I don't have a item number for this because I don't think they are available for purchase anymore. At least not for the moment. It was hard to capture this guys highlights on camera, but I tried.

  14. I've been hitting a slump in my painting that's been keeping me from these forums for quite a while. I'm trying to regain my rythm and getting some pieces done. This is one of them: This is Baal'zhab, High Demon of Hell from Mirlton Fantasy (or at least it's sold by Mirlton Fantasy now). One of the first figures I finished during my slump. I'm quite pleased with the result.
  15. Hey guys back again this time with the awesome Fire demon! This mini has sooo much detail. I had a blast doing this one I literally painted him by using a series of dots on the skin in three different shades of green! There must be thousands of dots lol. I also accented the dots with white cracks. I am very proud of this model, Any comments are wanted and gratefully received! Enjoy,
  16. Hey guys todays submission is the freaky Wolf demon. This is the latest focus of my Dungeons and Dragons adventurers ready to squeeze the life out of a half elf Ranger!! I am pleased with the fur effects ,Turquoise with green and blue gradients...Also the tattoos on the body I focussed on the back story of this demon being jilted by her elf lover..Hence the broken heart on her chest! I hope you approve of this paint job! I also finished up the base on this one yaaay! Any comments are received gratefully! Enjoy!
  17. Just some simple dry brushed Ape Demons. Metal washers used as the bases with a little sand glued to them, painted and dry brushed as well.
  18. Comments are gratefully received!!
  19. Multicolored demon candies! Since these guys were just so fun, I had to buy a second pack. The yellow one got the wings from the purple one. The glue for the grass is not quite dry yet, but I just wanted to get the photo session done with.
  20. Since she is topless, here are a few cropped pics and links to more pictures. Not so happy with how she turned out, but she is good enough for gaming! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxnQkRMUnNuSWxsUTg/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxnNFc0Ml9qVF9yOXc/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxncXprbkJHbUNHbjA/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxncWh1ZXdaTEJyV1E/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxnRm9UM2tMeVJfT2M/view?usp=sharing
  21. Swear I've seen this guy in a monster manual but I can't remember where. Anyone?
  22. I was going for Ganon but he came out kind of flat. Too many minis to paint to go back to him. Maybe someone else can do better.
  23. So finished these guys up, a touch of Snakebite Leather on all the claws, followed by Bleached Bone. Their teeth goth Bleached Bone, followed by VMC Ivory. All those got a light touch of GW Devlin Mud. Bases are Secret Weapon, with different types of flocks, and some Silflor short weed tufts. My thanks to everyone that chimed in during my WiP! They would not look as good as they do without all your comments and help! Further comments welcome! George
