  1. Done, finally. It took me three attempts until it felt right and in between he spent a lot of time on the shelf of shame (and at one point he even went back into the box of forgetfulness). As long as I tried to paint him up as "the Unclean" with a chaos/evil vibe it would not work. And then I thought about making him "the clean", which led me to musing about the color scheme of iPhones. That did the trick. In fact, the decision to go with "space grey" instead of "rose gold" was a very close one. And I DO have a bottle of rose gold paint, so it's not an empty threat!
  2. Finished this little guy this last week. I love all the Townsfolk. I wish there were more:).
  3. Heya folks been busy painting away, but keep forgetting to post on here. This one is one of the Halfling Farmers by Jason Wiebe. I also started an instagram @starscolorbox, there are more photos on there :). Enjoy https://www.instagram.com/p/CDQ_EjeB-19/?igshid=14i9amibmp0zl
  4. Mystery Peasant with Spiked Cudgel Started with leftover paint from the wizard. The base has been basecoated with the Mystery Sample Brown (which I am naming Hershey Kiss Dark Chocolate unofficially) that turned up in a box from those nice people in the Internet fulfillment department @Reaper. Colors I am thinking about using are splashed on the cardstock that is stuck to the paint stick. When I figure out which mini this guy actually is the title will get updated. He is really tall. For a 28mm mini.. ..he is 34mm tall. (Bootheel to top of Hood.)
  5. Finally getting around to posting some of my work this month.
  6. And the last one I just finished this month.
  7. Well finally got around to taking some pics of my work this month so naturally I'd thought would post.
  8. Haven't had a ton of time to paint this summer but I've managed to get a few things done. I've also been working on my basing. I plan on going back and adding some OSL to Damien but saving that for another day. The Familiar is from GW, cira 1994 and was a fun little guy to paint. C&C welcome and encouraged.
  9. been awhile since I posted anything so thought I'd post my work since last I posted.
  10. Been awhile since posted anything so here's my work I've done since last I posted. For her I tried to make the osl not that bright as if she was in daylight.
  11. Been awhile since I posted anything so thought I post the work I've done since last posted. I had just recently gotten reaper's bright turquoise HD so of course just had to try it out.
  12. Greetings! I've been working on this scary Reaper DHL Lich for a week or so. There is a rich blue glowy effect on his eyes but it doesn't seem to have come out that clearly on these pics. Anyway, thanks for looking!
  13. Finished my first serious mini since gettng back into painting. Had a lot fun with him!
  14. Hi friends! We have another project to share with you in our continuing series where Buglips and I paint the same figure using our own very different from each other approaches to miniature painting. If you're not familiar with this series, you can check out our previous topics: 03100: Thanis the Bonecaller 01614: Con Crud 2017 Convention Zombie 02818: Bugbear Warrior For this project, we decided to paint Scorpius Rex Dracus, which is an older figure in the back catalog of Reaper - just look at the number! 02017! He's one of the OG's of the Reaper catalog! Our usual
  15. Really liked painting this one, lots of good details. I really wanted to try OSL with his eyes and was considering adding some gore to his claws and teeth but got to this point and decided I really liked how he was looking and didn't want to muck him up with something I haven't tried before. Maybe next time! Feedback is more than welcome, please! Also, finally printed out a background for my pics
  16. Hello again, friends and monsters (who may also be friends) - we're back with another Fast N' Fancy Reaper miniature. Those of you who may have missed our previous examples and want to check them out can find them through these links: 03100 Thanis the Bonecaller 01614 Con Crud 2017 Convention Zombie But today, we will be doing Dark Heaven Legends 02818 Bugbears by Jason Wiebe. Well, one of them anyway. Since both bugbears are overall similar, we will be doing only one. For multipack figures that are broadly the same (such as skeletons, etc.) we'll only be pickin
  17. So this wasprobably one of the hardest minis I've ever painted. This wasn't helped by the fact that I glued him together before starting to pain (definitely avoiding that in the future). I've also, not had to make so many fixes throughout the process. Overall though I'm happy with the way he turned out.
  18. This miniature I've had for a while, since about 2008. I tried painting her a while ago, but I got stuck. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find painting horses to be very difficult - mostly because my colours just never seemed quite right. In November, I had to lay in supplies for over winter and that meant buying the last of my paint restocks from Coat D'Arms. While I was there, I noticed in their military line they had some Horse Tone colours. I figured, hey, why not? At least they'd probably wind up the proper colour. So Ms. Redstorm here was my first
  19. Started working on a mini for someone in my gaming group. As a half-orc oracle of Cayden Cailean, Kang was a perfect fit with a little modification... Here is he primed and then undercoated in Linen White for skin. The mug was just a little Milliput for the body and green stuff for the top/bottom and to attach. I would love any feedback or recommendations (including for photographing) along the way. I've just recently returned to painting (after ~20 years) and never really had anyone to offer useful critque when I first learned.
  20. Another one with an easy face! I think I really nailed the eyes this time!
  21. I have more orcs to paint, but I'm gonna switch it up for a bit and do some Spooky Scary Skeletons!
  22. My latest attempt - just a lot of adamantium black and a mix of clotted red / deep red with a bit of ruby for all the skull eyes.. He has a bit of a misshapen head, which may be why he turned to Evil - getting dropped on ones head has odd effects, I've heard.
  23. Orrrcs! I got two reaper army packs of these bad boys, and they look awesome. One pack, 06015, only had the two Sandra Garrity orcs and not the two Bob Olley ones. Their fantastic customer service has already sorted this out for me, so a Bones orc of the same type is standing in as a stunt double to show the other one that comes in the pack while his compatriots travel by mail. But these six funtime fellows are getting some paint, and I've been looking forward to this!
  24. I bought these some 12 years back, and only just now realized they were mispacked. I have a duplicate, as you can see, but one of those "stabber and board" guys should presumably be the kobold with a spear shown in the store picture. Just noting that they came that way in the pack, and it's not just a random batch I pulled out of The Drawer of Horrors. A kobold is a kobold, and I'll need some... *counts* 5 more packs of these, so I imagine some spear dudes will appear there. I'm especially fond of the big one, who definitely lifts.
  25. I still don't have replacement brushes, but I've been getting oddly useful results from my u-shaped brush and managed to heal a W&N Series 7 00 enough to help the terrible brush along. I'd rather fight them a bit than take a painting break, because I've been going gangbusters since about mid-december. I might fall out of the groove if I take a few days off. Since it's been a while since I last did a WIP, and as this one is very fresh and untouched, I thought I'd post her up as I went along. I think you can see the rather large mold lines on the inside of her shield. That's goin
