  1. So back to reposting my minis after the account crash. This is Freebooter winged Vampire Raven, sh swoops down from this ruin to attack Hasslefree's Gen. I removed Gen's horns, I wanted her to look more human. Gen's pics are linked cause, nude...mammal parts, I like the wings, but overall I'm not so proud of this. Around this time ( years ago) I noticed my eyesight getting worse. Nowadays I use a visor. https://postimg.cc/image/ef2n7zl6d/ https://postimg.cc/image/dcsgpgpid/ https://postimg.cc/image/5k1sxhbth/ https://postimg.cc/image/d012j9rt1/
  2. I put together this little diorama for Vegascat for the Secret Sophie this year. He had expressed an interest in fantasy or steampunk and I wanted to give him something that would work for either. The concept is a whos hunting who in a dark hall or around a building corner. I left the figures attached with wax instead of gluing them down incase Vegascat wanted to use them in a campaign I am afraid that recently my skills have fallen off some and it has been a really busy year. I did find a few spots in the pictures that needed touchup and got them before I sent them out but its still rougher than I would really like (sorry bout that I am beginning to think I really need glasses) . I did think that the overall scene came out really well and in particular, the use of a hemming pin as the silver arrow added a really nice highlight and effect. the actual walls are from some old mage knight dungeon tiles that I picked up years ago. I literally have hundreds of them and this was an opportunity to use a few up. Anyway, here are the pictures, Enjoy!
  3. This was my second diorama for ReaperCon 2017 and was the one picked for judging. The idea for it actually began at last year's ReaperCon and was originally going to be the wizard catching the barbarian mousling breaking in. Over the year it evolved into a large scene than originally planned and I swapped out the barbarian for the two thieves/rogues. It ended up getting a gold medal and Mousling Honorable Mention. Any feedback would be appreciated. Here is the WIP thread: Stop Thief! Thank you to everyone who gave me feedback while creating this diorama.
  4. This is something I have been working on for about a year, thanks to procrastination and being side tracked by other projects, but I finally decided to get it finished up. It was a lot of fun to work on and I'm pleased with the finished result and the little story it tells.
  5. This was one of my dioramas for the 2017 ReaperCon. I got the idea when Bombshell announced their Maelee and bot combo pack for the month of February last year, I think. I just happened to be playing Fallout 4 at the time and got the idea of doing a wasteland bot shop with Maelee as the owner and a bunch of bots around doing things. This was not my diorama that ended up being judged for the medal but it did received the silver Maelee Award for Diorama/Large Scale. Here is the WIP thread: The Bot Shop A big thank you to everyone who gave me feedback in the WIP thread and a huge shout out to @SisterMaryNapalm for recommending I add the android which ended up solving my "is this telling a story?" issue.
  6. This is one of my planned dioramas for ReaperCon. It is going to be a post apocalyptic 'bot shop featuring Bombshell Miniatures's Maelee and an assortment of robots. Right now the structure is built and partially painted with some weathering started. Still need to put a sign together but other than that, all construction is completed. What color do you suggest for the bricks/stone? The walls are a faint blue which is hard to see in the photos and will have rust effects like the roof. These are most of the 'bots as well as the workbench. The Maelee I am using is in my travel paint kit so I did not get her out for the photo. Do you like the two toned 'bot or should I go with a solid color? Any other suggestions would be welcome!
  7. So I finished my D20 Rainbow Dragon Challenge as given by @Cyradis, @Sirithiliel and @Pezler the Polychromatic. Challenge is here for those who want to join. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/76666-the-seers-and-a-wizard-present-a-random-rainbow-dragon-challenge/ My WIP http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/76689-glitterwolf-has-accepted-the-d20-rainbow-dragon-quest/ And finally my Dragon! I choose Ebonwrath and made him a Fairy Dragon with Butterfly wings. He just landed near a wild river to smell the flowers..
  8. Christmas diorama for my mom. I forgot to take better photos before I glued the dome on but here it is.
  9. So as some of you may know I'm making a diorama! This will be slow going for a while as I get the materials and then it should be full steam ahead. I've started by procuring another copy of the "telephone box" since I don't really like the first one I did a few years ago. It's not awful but not up to my standard for a Christmas present.
  10. So things were a little rushed in getting this finished a week ago, and I never did have the time to do a proper show off... And as final assembly didn't happen until Thursday afternoon..... and the results.... Thanks for all the fun, comments and following along with this!!!!!! George Forgot to link the WiP.....
  11. Having a hard time getting started back up on my keeper's sanctum diorama... I think I need to purposely take a break from it and work on some other stuff to get my creative juices flowing again. I have this idea in my head for a 75mm diorama featuring black sun miniatures' "Barbarian and the Lost Princess" (Conan) vs SC75's "Brock the Wanderer" I'm thinking in this piece that it will have Conan carrying the princess through a dungeon type setting and then Brock standing there in front of a doorway. I'm going to really pull from artwork that I admire in regards to barbarians such as Frazetta and Patrick J. Jones. Right now I'm cleaning off the flash and mold lines, as soon as I do that, I'll wash everything and start to assemble as much as I can without causing issues during painting. Mood and color scheme inspiration pic from Patrick J. Jones -
  12. Okay so Epic may not be appropriate, but I'll let you judge that for yourself. I got my hands on a Dragons Don't Share 2 at Adepticon (thank you reaper Bryan and Reaper Ed!) and I decided to begin a fairly substantial diorama with it. I'm still working on an appropriate name for the piece. I'll have a narrative story to go with it, but the Idea is still changing slightly as I build this. I hope to have this ready for ReaperCon 2016. So to start, This is how one carries a DDS2 home on a motorcycle... And no he will not share with you... On to the actual Diorama! The ideas started when we purchased a Lack end table from Ikea for about $3 from their as is section. We needed the legs but not the top. So I decided that the top would make a great diorama base and it is 22" which is 2" smaller than the size limit for most painting competitions near me (and reapercon). The idea is that an army of Dwarves are attempting to take down a dragon that has been harassing their kingdom. They find the dragon in some ruins near the creek and ambush him. So with this in mind, I started to lay out how I wanted things to be situated. This was a rough test to see how the DDS2 scaled to the table top. I think it worked well. So then it was on to Reaper's website to see about finding the right dwarves for this. I knew I wanted 2 team of Dwarves with chains trying to subdue the dragon. The dragons pose even looks like he is in mid attack so this works well enough. I ordered 6 14596: Kragmarr Guard to act as the chain crews. It will be a fairly straightforward swap from their spears to holding a chin (I hope). I plan to use the dwarf that came with the DDS2 set but not any of the other adventurers. Also shown is 14607 Kragmarr Ram Rider though I'm not sure if he will stay, 14379 Shield Maiden, and 02376 Brag Ironballs. I still need to order some crossbow wielding dwarves and some rank and file dwarves to add to the scene. Plus some dead adventurers and skellys to add to the scenery. right now I have 10 Dwarves in the scene with plans to add at least another 15-20. I'll also be raising the scene on cork so that the building terrain is at slightly different levels and I can add a creek. This is where I am at so far, I have to wait until payday to order more dwarves. I'll leave a nice list of all of the Miniatures I'm using as i go to make it easier. This is an over view of where the Diorama sits now with more dwarves.... Need to re-aim this group I think... Brag Ironballs showing how he got his name... Minis Used so far... 77381: Dragons Don't Share - 2014 Edition (Dragon, Terrain, and Dwarf only) 14596: Kragmarr Guard (x6) 02376: Brag Ironballs 14379: Dwarven Shieldmaiden 14607: Kragmarr Ram Rider
  13. Here are pictures of my ReaperCon 2017 Diorama entry, "Wrong Turn":
  14. Couple reaper samurai I used for a commissioned diorama. Rock is pine bark, tree is a wire armiture covered with plumber's epoxy putty and paper towel and super glue (for the skinnier parts), foliage is bleached, dyed, and preserved reindeer moss.
  15. I've decided on the figures I'm using for this project now too, they changed since last time. I want to enter it into this year's Reapercon Diorama category (of course) and I want it to qualify for Bombshell Babes diorama, so I'm picking out 5 babes to battle the keeper (RBG) and his summoned demon (reaper glabrezu): 1) Celeste - Sorceress/wizard, 2) Khai the Huntress - ranger, going to weapon swap her to give her a bow, 3) Thorga Half Orc - Barbarian, Astrid Thunderhammer - Cleric, and Sister Vasha Fane - Paladin. This piece will be 2 stories tall, it will have a lot of details and a lot of action, with a summoning circle that the Glabrezu is inside of at the time the heroines come rushing into the Keeper's Sanctum. The badelf adventuring party! Vs..... The Keeper and his summoned Glabrezu
  16. I bought the Golden crackle paste medium instead of going out to buy the GW crackle paint... but so far no crackles in my test swatches. I'm hoping some people here have tried Golden before and have any tips. Do I need a base coat? Glue on the bottom? Thicker layers? Does it need the full 3 days to dry & cure even for small terrain pieces? I'm hoping to be able to just use what I already have, but I might be able to buy some Agrellan earth this weekend if the Golden doesn't work. Or if there are any good crackle paints for a dry desert texture I could find at Joann's or Michael's or Blick. Thanks! :)
  17. I've started working in earnest on my diorama entry for ReaperCon... Nothing like waiting till the last minute... First I figured out placement, then carved out the wall. And now I'm working on actually painting it up. I have no idea if I'm going to be able to pull off the OSL effect or not.
  18. Not all was peace and quiet in the forest. Lately a group of little demons had infested the place. These Imps, Hordlings or whatever they were called, harassed the little animals, the fairies and they damaged the trees and the mushrooms. Even the Grand Mushroom watched in horror how they terrorized the Forest, but he could do nothing. One day the Imps captured one of the fairies and beat her up. She could barely escape and she fled crying. Almost leaving the forest, she came by a small dirt road, and she noticed a cart coming. Quickly she hid between the bushes. A wizard passed by, contemplating his latest spells, a cart filled with supplies. The donkey pulling the cart, was in no hurry it seemed. Slowly it passed by. The fairy looked at the cart, she sneaked into the back. The wizard didn't notice the little fairy rummaging through his supplies, he was too caught up in his spells. Suddenly the fairy noticed a bottle, the label said: Gigantic Growth. Feeling her blood rising to her cheeks she stole the bottle and hopped off the cart. She went back into the forest. The Imps saw her coming and started laughing. Clearly this one hadn't had enough! The fairy drank the potion, all of it, and in a moment she started to grow. One Imp said...this can't be good! The next moment the fairy had her revenge, she trampled the first Imp into the ground and chased the others. Even the Grand Mushroom felt sorry for the Imps now! For those interested WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71076-impfestation-by-xherman1964-mushroom-fairy-and-imps/ Components: Base - was a gift from the Awesome Knarthex! Imps - Bones Hordlings and the little Drow Imp from Reaper's Familiar Pack IX. Little Mushrooms - Resin from Ristul's Market. Hope you like it.
  19. Here is Maria Roseblade from the Reaper Master Series. Hope you'll like it. WIP is here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62239-30007-maria-roseblade-pirate-queen-54mm-xherman1964
  20. OK, so this is one of those "good enough!" moments and I am calling this done! This, actually being the stage for many of my firsts.. My first diorama for starters, my first attempt at making a wire-tree, the first time I used an airbrush and my first (albeit failed) entry to a competition. And it is the moment to call it quits, declare it finished and present to you for much desired C&C. Unfortunately my photography is still very much lacking :( Oh and the reason I couldn't make it to the competition is that I have to go on a business trip abroad on the very day that it will be held.. Oh well, there is always next year I guess.. Thanks for looking.
  21. Hi, I painted "Eric, the Paladin initiate" as a random mini from Bones 2. I like his contemplative look and pose... So I decided to make a little vignette/diorama by adding one of the graveyard statue from Bones3. I call it "Time to Reflect". The base is an Orange juice cap, and the tree is from Woodland Scenic. C&C Welcome
  22. I'm going to start a diorama soon to go inside a snow globe. I want to put snow on the base but seeing as I've never done any sort of basing at all I'm not sure where to begin. The base will be the rubber stopper that is the plug to the bottom of the globe so I'm not sure if that will effect anything or not. I've seen something at Michael's/Joann's called "snowtex" and was wondering if that might work or how well it would work? Any advice as to how to go about this?
  23. Well then - here we are. After I don't know how many hours (maybe 60?) and a few to dry - here's what I made in this WIP thread. ->Let's make a present! Hanseatic League Sea Traffic Control Center<- It came out pretty nicely - only thing I am a bit unhappy with is the glowing effect I tried to do. My first one. I guess I've got to work on that. Anyway. Here we go: (Sign can be literally translated as 'issued')
  24. And here we are - after 48 hours of building time and another 20 or so hours of drying, our beach diorama is finally done. Check here for the WIP Thread ->Let's Make a Present! Combat divers on the beach<-
  25. When my first present - please check here ->Let's present a ... present! Owl Mage<- was received pretty well by our female colleage, my boss asked me to do more. This time the task was to make a present for another colleague who left us. As he was in the military and also is a passionate diver, I thought of something military. What would be a better fit than German combat divers (Kampfschwimmer)? Luckily I found a bunch of German frogmen miniatures and ordered them immediately. When I told my boss what I had in mind, she asked me to include the following elements: 1st: Frogmen 2nd: An owl (of course) 3rd: an exit 4th: a sign that links the colleague to our work. Everything else was free for me to develop. As Frogmen often use beaches to infiltrate or exfiltrate an area, the overall idea was to create a beach setting. So I went down to the beach, spent some hours there swimming, enjoying the sun and making sketches, until I finally had an idea what I wanted the diorama to be like. The owl should be sitting on a sign that warned of mines - but instead of a mines warning there should be an inside joke written on the board we often did at work. The exit should be between two dunes and be marked by another sign. And the Kampfschwimmer unit should be astonished by what they witnessed. So I started painting the combat divers. After that I assembled the owl, used plastic styrene to cut out two signs, assembled them an started painting. Still I had one problem - the showcase I ordered ... *chuckles* didn't show up. That sounds funny at the moment but should be a problem later on. And as I was doing a second diorama at the same time, the pressure increased ... *Insert creepy music here*
