  1. A large mini ragepainted sloppyfast in under an hour just to blow off some steam and get it off the tray it has been standing around for ages on. Well, large mini I say. Compared to most other dragons of the Bones kickstarters, this one is rather smallish. However, back in the day when heavy metal was king, this mini would be considered a large miniature of a dragon. pics below the clicks
  2. Painted this for the Lost Mines of Phandelver module that I am running. Venomfang will be reoccuring throughout their adventures. I painted this faster than usual, but would not call it speed pained because it still took me about a month. I put a bit more into it than my usual speed paints, but a little less than others. It is always hard from me to take pics of larger models, probably should have taken this one outside, may have benefited from the background trees and grass more than most other models.
  3. Andy over at Heresy Miniatures has done something I thought he’d never do. Launch a second production run of his infamous dragon. Link to the Live Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/heresyminiatures/the-heresy-miniatures-dragon-production-wave-ii/description - I know there’s at least a couple of us here who have this dragon from it’s original production run. Haven’t attempted to assemble mine yet. It’s a huge beast of a model and is definitely for experienced hobbyists. I wish Andy all the best for his kickstarter but I
  4. Did a little painting today to calm my nerves before the con. Experimented with several brands of metallic paint. Photos are not great, but you get the idea.
  5. I'm painting again after a looong absence. The colour scheme was inspired by Australian Frilled-neck Lizards and Thorny Devils. Base was extended with an MDF circle, cork, stones, and green stuff. I used my airbrush to prime it all and lay down the base colours, then lots of hand-painting, washing and drybrushing.
  6. My niece has her birthday in a week or so. We were up visiting so I thought I would bring up a dragon I created for her. I also had gotten the copper and alchemy set from scale 75 and kaphrixis is a copper dragon so... Here is the finished piece. The body was done with copper from scale 75 mixed with some Jaquards dry copper pigments for effect. The wings were aquamarine mixed with the copper and that was the effect I got. I thought the upper wings were gorgeous Then I asked: where would a dragon keep his spellbook? Answer: tatooed.to his wings of course!
  7. WiP on this too cute baby dragon from bones 4. One of the reasons for my to back. The kids each pick one, and choose their own coulor. The dragon fly is magnetized, and i'm gonna put more magnetes on some other dragons so the dragon fly can hope from 1 to an other baby dragon. ... keep u posted. grtzzz Peepster
  8. ******EDIT : Jump to Show-Off thread Everyone, meet Viridius. He's a hefty boi. No Ma'al or Kalladrax, but still pretty big. He doesn't even fit in my light box, as you can see. I've thought a long time about how I was going to paint him up, I don't think I'm going to go with the standard green dragon look. Instead I'm going to take my inspiration from the time of year, and make him an autumn forest dragon, whose coloration changes with the forest around him. So I'll be doing him in mostly golden yellows to oranges and reds, but keeping some gr
  9. Now that my Bones 4 order is here, my backwards brain decided it's finally time to paint the fire dragon I've had in my box of shame for a year and a half! I don't think I can claim that I'm "new to painting" anymore, but this is my first dragon and by far the biggest mini I've attempted thus far. In order to actually paint more things I like instead of saving them until I've practiced or become good enough to attempt them, I'm trying to adopt the mentality of trying at least one new technique with every mini I paint. Hopefully this will get me out of my comfort zone and into some new styles a
  10. Hello all! @Echoside_ challenged me to do this! I attached the colors that were rolled and a pic of the dragon lined. Sorry for the short post, but it serves purposes. Cheers! -Z
  11. If your adventurers ever see Fimbul Frostbite they'll definetely feel the winter coming. The mighty white dragon dracolich rules its frozen wastes with a (rotten) sharp claw and twisted magic! This is my rendition to the "zombie dragon" from Reaper Bones IV. Decided for a cold palette to take advantage from the link between death and ice that Game of Thrones so wisely stablished over eight seasons till its apotheosic... ehm. Well, till its peculiar end. If anyone wants to visit my insta gallery I'll be honored ^^ its @albertnyarla
  12. I've never successfully done lava so I'm attempting it again. Hopefully this little guy will be lava-riffic. Started with a base coat of Clear Yellow, unthinned.
  13. Here my version of the "Dance of death" from Reaper Bones IV. I'm still very hesitant to show it off because till the last second I was really insecure about the outcome. First of all, the palette: right now I kinda like it, but I'm not 100% sure about 1. the base and 2. the color of the lower dragon. My first idea was to paint it white, and make it reminiscent of a battle between England's white dragon and Wales red dragon. But to paint white is always a challenge and given I'm not that familiar with the material, I decided to go with the other hard color to paint. Now it ju
  14. Okay I might have a problem when it comes to collecting and painting dragons. They fascinate me. This dragon has been produced by many companies, I think Dark Sword holds the rights at this point but it was also produced by RAFM and Ral Partha and probably others as well. She is a small thing but still fun and relatively simple to paint up. The dragon back has a very fine scale texture making the wide expanse of a back difficult to display (for her brothers and sisters I will probably incorporate some sort of design) properly. Hope you enjoy
  15. I am taking am attempt at Ral Partha's Ghost dragon. The box art does him in white but I wanted something different. I wanted to play with color making him red from the top down, blue from the bottom up but making the transition acceptably smooth when liked at from the side..Ill say up front this is not the easiest dragon to work with. Have I gone wrong? I would like some opinions on the roughed out paint scheme as well as some suggestions for the eye and mouth color. Originally I was considering him for a playful ghost but more and more he is looking like more nightmare than daydream
  16. So, I freaked out when I saw the green of Mal'adrakar... what... two years ago? I haven't been paining in several years for a few different reasons. For the last several years things have been up in the air, and I need to be in a certain 'head space' to calm down and put brush to paint for any considerable amount of time. I'm super glad that I've gotten the painting bug back in time to paint this one up. I did a LONG WIP post of Kyra and Lavarath many years ago, and I was hoping to followup with something similar. That one was a long weekend when I had the flu... This one I'm recovering from s
  17. Hi all, Crazy idea that has been floating around my noggin for months now is finally starting to come together. Never done anything like this before so we'll see where this leads. Cinder, with gaps filled with green stuff. Her legs are a little bent so I can't quite attach her to her base so I'll use the terrain and pin her where she needs to be. Cinder, 2 hatchlings, some quail eggs and tree bark (rocks) for some of the landscaping. Plan is to have to eggs sitting on a pile of treasure. Going to hit Michael's to see if I can find a suitable base for it otherwise I
  18. This took over a year - mostly because I procrastinate EVERYTHING - but he's finally done! Contest Thread Combined Show-Off Thread WIP Thread Colors rolled were Blush Pink (I fudged and went to Breast Cancer Pink so that I can donate him to a survivor that I know), Brilliant Green and Heather Blue. I have yet to get around to building or acquiring something better for photographing these than printer paper leaned up against the paint rack, but other than that, CnC is, as always welcome.
  19. Well, I did it. We now have a cute little Christmas scene with mama Blightfang and her wee ones getting ready for the holidays! A little early for some holiday cheer but it was fun Learned a few things: don't use wood glue to hold down snow it gives a disturbing yellow cast. Blightfangs scales are actually leaves, making her more of a forest dragon than a classic green, and I think one of her children was adopted... I really had a lot of fun with this, even if it wasn't my best work. It came out well. I really like the red and teal fades on the wings.
  20. Wyrmgear the Clockwork Dragon was a part of the very first Bones kickstarter back in 2012. It has been standing around unpainted and semi-assembled on my Dragon shelf (the top one with extra space for all the wings and such) several years. Some time ago, I pulled it off the shelf and started rusting it up. And it did not look good. So I put it back on the shelf. And took it down again after some time, did some more rusting. And still it did not look any good. And some of this was down to the pristine, straight and flat wings. The wings are made in a much harder / more rigid plas
  21. Here’s my next big project, a 1984 Ral Partha dragon. This old fellow was in pieces when I received him, and painted. I’ve cleaned him up, removed the old epoxy glue, pinned him back together, and tonight realized it looks like he’s rising out of the water. He needs a bigger base, which I have (75x46mm oval). But I have never done any basing, and I’d like to create a base that extends the appearance of water. I have no idea how to do that, so any and all suggestions and illustrations are welcome!
  22. I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment, so have managed to talk myself into another rainbow dragon... Since I have ol' Pathfinder Red sitting in the Drawer of Doom and no real plans for him, I thought I'd randomize him (not that I don't have enough other projects that haven't been finished (or even started)).. So, here goes: 3 Star challenge on Pathfinder Red (#89001) Primary : Blush Pink (although I might substitute in Breast Cancer Pink since I have 3 bottles of that from last month!) Secondary: Brilliant Green (needs to be ordered or fetched from the FLGS - I have Forest

  24. I Don't have much to go on with this dragon. its another one that has been sitting half finished on my shelf forever. the bottom has some script on the bottom that looks like FWS and an 8. other than that I don't have any clue where it comes from. but I finally dusted the mini off, freshened up the red (It was becoming a pink dragon) and decided to display it here. hope everyone enjoys!
