  1. The dread beating of wings brings a chill wind to the land. A 3D print, this design is "The Father of Frost" from The Lost Dragons, a Kickstarter project.
  2. This was one of my earlier Necromancers. I love this model. A great sculpt from Rob Ridolfi.
  3. Way back in May, I finished a Lava/Magma elemental that I teased as being a practice piece for something larger. It’s been longer than planned, but I’ve completed him, and I’m 99% happy with the results. I introduce the fearsome Marty the Lava Dragon. And one last one with his little buddy for comparison. There are definite differences in how the lava effect played out on the sculpts. I like them both for what they are. Colors used: P3 Heartfire, Magma Red, Walnut Brown, and P3 Coal Black (barely there in the very blackest ar
  4. My thinking when painting this guy was that his scales would all be gemstones. When D&D dragons were conceived, I think it was a big mistake to have the good dragon be metals and the evil ones colors. The evil ones should have been named after gemstones: ruby, sapphire, emerald, onyx, and opal. So here is the ruby dragon, in his volcanic home. I hope you like it. Thanks a ton to everyone in the WIP forum for advice and encouragement!
  5. Silver dragon done up in red...
  6. I stole some spell effects from a nolzurs beholder who didn’t need this one. Pretty proud of this guy!
  7. Finished the fire dragon, painted using a red and gold theme. Used lots of metallic paints mixed in with matte paint, especially on its torso. Hope I got the right effect. Tell me what you guys think, would appreciate it. P.S.: I'm a bad photographer so don't mind the shadows and the bad lighting in the pics... If need be i'll take another batch of photos.
  8. Here's my recently finished 3D print, the Zombie Dragon from "The Lost Dragons" Kickstarter
  9. In the Storm King's Thunder campaign I'm playing in we've had 2 encounters with an ancient blue dragon named Iymrith. I don't have a painted blue dragon... And my very pregnant DM isn't going to get one bought and painted before we need her, so... Digging through my minis, I figured Narthrax was as close as I've got. It was going to be blue anyway (or dessert sands brown) so that was my top choice. I also thought about the wizkids dragons, but the FLGS only had the green, and I wasn't all that impressed with the sculpt. I'd rather drop $30 on another Narthrax if I'm gonna paint a b
  10. WIP thread: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60469-77279-narthrax-copper/ My copper dragon Palorforthen, who I painted Narthrax up as, is a very different sort of story. In my world, dragons do not have alignment based on color. They're good or evil by their own personality, not the color of their scales. Dragons also are not sorted by 'blue is lightning, red is fire', either, but rather into elemental categories of Fire, Air, Water, Earth, and Arcane. Arcane dragons are the strongest, for they are naturally gifted at magic and can use a wider variety of attacks than the othe
  11. Hello, this time I wanted to share painted miniature, after almost 10 years i got back to painting :D I hope you like it!
  12. After 6 months of painting 4-10 hours a week on this monster, I am finally finished with Reaper Bones Ma'al Drakar 77580. WIP Here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78573-citrine-tries-to-tackle-maaldrakar-77580/&tab=comments#comment-1668344
  13. Hello all! I've just finished painting "Stormwing" from my Bones 3 collection - Yay!! My painting process of this mini can be found here in my ongoing Dragon/large monster WIP thread. Please feel free to comment & critique: Thanks for looking !
  14. Learning from my previous forays into blending with wings, I decided to try for something more challenging. In doing this, I learned that sometimes the parts of bigger minis don't fit together as well as one hopes, which in this case resulted in some improvisation, especially around the foot/base socket and the wings. But I am enjoying how he came out. He was wondrously bumpy. :-)
  15. He was a lot of work. like a lot. im glad he’s done.
  16. Thank you everyone! :-) Some new colors!! I'm trying different things :D What do you guys think ?
  17. Been a productive month for me. Animals are springing to life everywhere. Out the “white minis” pile I pulled the Bones Chimera. It’s a quick tabletop level effort, but after staring at it for two years, I just wanted it painted. Since I wasn’t really invested in the outcome, I thought I’d do something a little different, so I went with a purple dragon.
  18. Hello everyone i wanted to share custom made statue for painters that i sculpted, Dragon Queen. Hope you enjoy it! UPDATE!! Video :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucTWRfZUP3I
  19. So I'm currently in the stages of prepping Marthrangul for a contest. I'm also painting the Frost Giant Queen as a backup entry. So once I get started of love all the C&C I can get. I have a little less than a month to do him in.
  20. Decided to make this into a WIP. I've never done one so why not. Started here. Work is taking long lately and not much energy to paint but hopefully more soon. Pedicting 35 C temperatures in a couple days so I might be hiding in the basement more than working then. Any suggestions and comment welcome.
  21. Splitting this one off into his own thread, in order to reduce clutter in the original thread, and also because he won't be a random rainbow dragon anymore. An employee at a local gaming store introduced me to this model, and shortly after seeing it I pretty much decided I very much so wanted to get my paws on it... So I did! Thing is, I don't plan on doing him up in telltale metallic colours, but instead as more of a synthetic creature with a few mechanical elements. There will be a number of firsts for me with this project... First time drilling and pinning a
  22. Meet my planned project for this year's annual contest. The original Dragons Don't Share. Most of it anyway. This has been sitting on my shelf for years because, while I love most of the sculpt, the wings have always bothered me. So 2 years ago while at Reapercon, I traded some of my melt for a new set of wings. Thenimbus the model sat for another 2 years while I worked up the guts to start drilling sculpting and painting on one of the crown jewels of my collection. Well I finally worked up the nerve and I'm starting the project. The new wings are from Ebonwrath and I think they are a
  23. Good friday everyone. It's the second time I paint this model. I got it from a friend after painting the first one, it's such a nice and fun model to paint, I decided it was now time to lay some color on it. I use this guy as a NPC in the DnD games I'm hosting. See the last pictures for comparison. I realise now that the familiar neck is bended bad, it looks like it's grooming its scales. So here it is, 02700, Tox the Wizard sculpted by Sandy Garrity.
