The Dragonman something from the Bones 4 core set. This mini actually comes in many parts and with a selection of different weaponry and hand-held things. I went with the bucaneery sabre and dagger on account of the high boots looking a little piratey. Also, this is what the render shown in the KS looked like. I went with a bronze / gold armour and my new darker flock mix. Turned out well in my opinion at least. The base is a 3D printed 35x25mm lipped oval as I thought a 40mm round was too large. Next randomly grabbed mini is the Dragonman Warrior from the first Bones kickstarter. This one suffers a bit from the softer Bones material used on the earlier Bones. The details are a bit soft, especially around the mouth and face in general. The scales are not all as marked as they might have been. The weapon needed straightening as is common with these minis. As can be seen in the pictures, the straightening was successful, but not quite perfect. I thought this one might have a bit more armour than the average Lizardman. Turns out it is meant as a player character mini. So it became the Paladin Sir Hisst. A quick and comparatively easy paint job. I painted these up about 6 months ago for my brother so he could surprise his players; he was running a small adventure for a group of people who hadn't played D&D before, and I wanted to help him get them to love the game. And nothing says "hey this game is awesome" more than when it has minis in it, and especially when those minis look like their character. They just finished their intro adventure this past weekend, so I thought I'd share. Reaper Figs used: 02926: Gungor, Half-Orc Monk 77118: Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue 77060: Dragonman Warrior 77166: Balto Burrowell, Gnome Wizard Apologies on the next pics, my brother took them and sent them to me via his phone, but didn't know much about the intricacies of photoing minis (I barely know more than he does): The first two aren't anything super special; I had very little description to go off other than brown-hair halfling, and white dragonborn/black eyes. I did make the cloth purple on the dragonborn to make him match the hair on the upcoming tiefling since those players are a husband-wife duo in the real world. The next figure I wish I could paint again, because I did some poor color choices with her shirt and skin; in the pics they look too similar, and they are. I'd redo the shirt, but not the green hotpants, because the player loved them. This last one is my favorite, because I think he came out the best. He was the last one I painted, so a lot of the dust and cobwebs on my skill had been blown off. He's the only one that I was actually able to get a detailed character description of (steathily, because the minis were a surprise), so I didn't have to make up an entire scheme on my own (color scheme is the hardest part for me). Plus, the player said he had a mohawk, so I got to sculpt a faux-hawk on him. Two regrets on him: the shadow color defining his muscles is too stark, wish I had gone with something a little lighter, and I'd redo his fauxhawk into a more spikey one. Overall, I'm quite pleased with how they all turned out. They were the first ones I had done in several years, and the first ones I had done since my health problems snowballed; they were very much an "Am I able to still do this?" project. The fact that the players loved them, and wanted to keep them after they finished their adventure makes them all-the-more special to me (and they did get to keep them). -MvM

Hi Guys, This one took a little while but I had a lot of fun doing it. The original mini had the figure standing on its tail awkwardly so that it was positioned mid air. I decided to make a base for it so that it wouldn't look like it was using its tail to do a jump attack. The column that the figure is standing on is made of an eraser. I used a knife to cut it into a basic rectangular prism shape. I then sliced off the corners at a 45 degree angle and glued them back onto the prism so that it made a column shape. I then proceeded use a scalpel to cut out the groves in the column to give it that damaged look. Cutting the final column shape on an angle so that when it was stuck down, it was slanted. The debris on the bottom is made of leftover eraser cut offs and coffee grain while the base is made of 2 washers. I let that set for a day before glueing the figure onto it. I went for a green and yellow colour palette for the figure. Starting with a dark green base, I moved onto a bright green mid tone and finished with a yellow highlight. Part of me is actually wondering if this worked out well as I am actually colour blind to certain shades of yellow and lighter greens. With the wings, I tried painting a spotted pattern to try and replicate that you see on lizards in my area. I made the outer part of the wing darker than the inside to try and draw attention to the front of the figure. I also tried to paint in an artificial metallic shine on the spear head. This is a vintage mini, Grenadier Dragonman Sorcerer, I got it from a BOGW a few years ago. I will use him as a Demon Officer in my Children of the Grave army, because I think he looks a bit like a classic Demon. I painted this fig over the weekend. I typically stick with the bones material, but I liked this fig so much I splurged for the metal version. I went with a red color scheme for a dragonborn character that I rolled up for an upcoming adventure. I like how the gold armor goes with the reddish brown skin, but if I had to do it over, I would have chosen a more vibrant purple for the shield and cloth bits of the tunic. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I can definitely see myself getting a few more of these and doing them with color schemes for all of the other types of dragons. A good friend of mine since college is playing in a D&D based game that he wanted some winged dragonmen for. This is the first of two conversions I did for him. The base figure is 77060. and the wings came from Troll Slayer Sophie. Sorry, Sophie! These are just to a tabletop standard, as they will be used for gaming.

1st off, this guy is difficult to find key words for when looking him up in Reapers miniatures sale pages. Dragon Warrior doesn't pull him up, neither does dragonkin, half dragon or lizard warrior ( most of which pull up a lot of models in the same class.) If the sales are low, it may be because he is hard to know he exists. Originally he was going to be a good D&D dragon, most likely gold. Then coincidentally a friend wanted a bunch of bad half dragons for a campaign and I mentioned I had just picked this one up. He wanted each a different color and this one was going to be either white or blue. White was tough and the sculpt made it even tougher. I really had to jam the paintbrush in a lot of crevasses and create a few painted up scales that I felt were missing. In the end I am proud of this one. White is tough and he was the first small model I have painted since knocking out a couple of very large balefire gates for a friends GW table. This site has a new look since I have last been on. I will have to look around if I have the time today.

So I have to decide if this is done or not? bother. I only have two stages: or thats what I have until I go back and fix stuff. the shoulder plates were devilish, concave and convex at the same time. I ended up taking a spoon out at noon and flipping it back and forth, drawing the reflections. and Then a painting DVD gave me the idea to add read and purple washes to the gold. and reflect the color of the guy in the sword. I any suggestions for finishing/improvements would be great. Or criticism of what didn't work. I might not be seeing it.

So...first of my docket of 4 (other 3 pics coming later) is this little guy I painted up for GMPathfinder for Secret Sophie. I...Don't know why I have an fascination with blue DMM, but hey, I think it worked better than my last experiment with such. I know the dark flocking got TOO dark when I glued it, and I'll need to keep that in mind for future reference. C&C Welcome

I am running Hoard of the Dragon Queen for my D&D players, and they faced off against Landerosa Cyanwrath, the half blue dragon warrior last session. I realized I didn't have a suitable mini so I speed painted a metal Reaper fig, the Gaan-Hor Warrior, to represent Cyanwrath. The Gaan-Hor is supposed to have wings but Cyanwrath doesn't have them so I did not attach the wings before painting him. I also had a new player join last session and he is going to play a silver dragonborn fighter. I used a prepainted mini for the first session but this weekend I painted up a Bones Dragonman Warrior as his character mini. I decided to paint his armor bluish steel, and before I knew it I decided on the spur of the moment to try out NMM. The only time I tried that before I did not do so well with hit even though I was trying to follow detailed instructions. This time I winged and it actually went much better, I think. I liked the bluish metal bits and the silver NMM better than my attempt at gold. I will have to try gold again using different tones and colors to see if I can get better at it. For the last pic I decided to put the two minis in confrontation in front of another project I started this past weekend, my first attempt with water effects. The fountain is supposed to be a Cthuluesque fountain for Deep Ones, I think. I still need to try to add the actual fountain spray and ripples to the water, but that will come this next weekend. He could be much better, but I really wanted to just speed-paint him and get him to table top quality without spending too much time on him. Anyhow, C&C welcomed and appreciated! So, I promised to show off my Current Projects in the Fall Exchange Thread, so here goes nothing! So, first off, I have been having troubles with my Camera. It cannot seem to take non-fuzzy pics of minis consistently, even in macro mode. I took about 30 pictures of my current project minis...11 of those pics came out okay-ish. But at least one of every mini was included in those pics, so here are most of those. Project #1: Dragonborn Barbarian! Been playing Wednesday Night D&D stuff and have become friends with a couple of regulars. Both have been impressed with my painting "Skills", so I'm making minis for them. The First is playing a Dragonborn Barbarian with a fire/Volcanic flare. So, I took to my Plasticrack Chop-Shop, and created the Abomination above. And there he is with a coat of Primer and the first red Base coat on his scales. Project #2: The other Player at the Wed. Game Is fairly young, about 14-15 ish. He has come a long way though, especially since he decided to try playing a Dwarf Paladin. So, I'm making him a custom Mini. Again, I went to the Chop-Shop, but was a little more reserved this time. I chopped off the original Axe, added an Icy Warhammer from a D&D Mini and a Beer Stein I got at GenCon a few years ago at a Mini Class. Project #3: Diversify my Tieflings! And Finish old projects while I'm at it :P This Lady has been half finished for months. And Yes, the pink hair IS intentional. Project #4: Mari the Sniper Ranger. This one is for a PC in my F2F 4E D&D Campaign that I run on Saturdays. This mini is apparently Admiral Thrune from some Pathfinder Adventure done up for their Pre-Painted Minis. All I care about though is that this is a Female Human with a Crossbow! You would not think that would be something difficult to find, but you would be wrong. Original Paint job was in a kind of bright red. Looks very different in these colors. Anywho, Please comment. I live on Kind Words and Good Advice:) GF

Kadrus is a Nagaji PC from my Pathfinder Jade Regent game. The player picked out #77060 - the rather plainly named Dragonman Warrior - to represent him on the table. The Story: Kadrus was captured by slavers and shipped half a world away to be some depraved noble's exotic "pet". Luckily for him, he was freed by a band of rangers opposed to the slavers trespassing through their lands. Stranded on a strange continent, with his only marketable skills being "kill things dead", Kadrus has joined the party hoping to earn enough money to eventually buy passage back to Tian Xia. The party is on the cusp of discovering an ancient artifact which will send them racing over the Crown of the World to depose an unjust tyrant.
