Qesnef, is an ogre mage who lost a bet with Keraptis and as a result must guard the fabled treasure of White Plume Mountain, the sword of Blackrazor, for 1001 years. In his true form Qesnef is a huge, horned, blue-skinned ogre but he normally uses his innate shape-changing magic to appear in the guise of a doughty Halfling when meeting unsuspecting adventurers. (excerpt from the back of the box, characters based on the White Plum Mountain dungeon Module) Painted for a friend. Cool model, I may end up painting one for myself one day.

The small gaming community that got it's first two legs early last year is starting to flourish over here. :) Gathered a few people for DnD 5th. edition, too, now. I've made myself a Warlock. He will be drawing his strength from a Great Old One, only referred to as the King in Yellow. ^^ Guess what book his pact of the tome is inspired from. The title says all. Just wondering if anyone had anything interesting. I would post one of my own story ideas, but then I'll find out years later that it was plagarized and is being turned into a movie. It's happened to me before, I'm not being paranoid.

So whilst perusing the RPG drivethru website one day I stumbled across a set of 'print your own' type dungeon tiles by an outfit named Inked Adventures. I really liked the hand drawn aspect of the tiles and the old school map feel so I put the grab on them. There are a LOT of tiles in the set. There are 64 different tiles at 10x10" and then a second set of 64 that are the mirror of the first. They even have some printable pages for DM's to put notes about the different tiles complete with a thumbnail pic of the tile. I've assembled quite a few, each is printed on two pages (8.5x11 for US and A4, I think, for Euro). I'm mounting mine on foam board and it's working pretty well. Only one board so far has really warped much and I'm working on experiments on how to fix it. Here are a couple photos with some tiles semi-randomly laid out on my kitchen table... I think another part of the attraction I have is that I love the idea of geomorph tiles. I like the replay value I guess you might say. I like them so much, I've been toying with making a board for the RPG-Lite Squad-based Sci-fi dungeon crawl I've been working on... The total size is 30x30" and the camera didn't want to cooperate so I apologize for the blur... or maybe it's just a teaser pic so the blur was on purpose? Yea, that's it. The tiles will all be double sided allowing for a lot of different setups... eventually. Okay, here is a less blurry close up... So, if you're looking for a 2d dungeon with a lot of old school charm, I'd recommend the Inked Adventure tiles. Anyway, that's map talk!

So Amazon just sent me an email the other day recommending the "Premium" editions of just about every core D&D book from every edition except vanilla 3E. I had known about them doing a collector's reprint of AD&D 1E, but the other editions came as a bit of a surprise. While I won't be going and grabbing the 3.5 books, I was kind of tempted by the AD&D 2E books for the sake of wanting to play it at least once in my life. Has anyone here gotten their hands on any of these books yet? Are they straight reprints of the old stuff, or do they have added errata in them like the reprinted Premium 3.5 books claim to have? That could influence my purchase since one of the things I heard when I first started playing 3E was that AD&D 2E had become a sloppy, patchwork mess of obscure rules and various "official" interpretations thanks to rulings in stuff like Dragon magazine and the numerous splatbooks. I know that as stuff gets added game bloat sets in and rules get increasingly distorted, but I was led to believe that many of the rules changes were necessary at the outset to keep the game balanced. Is the game going to be pretty broken and unbalanced without those rulings, or will it run just about as well as any other edition does when confined to just the 3 core books? For reference, according to some Amazon reviews the books are reprints of the 1995 AD&D 2E books.
