  1. "Aw, shucks, pardner. You know Ol’ Scratch already. Closer to you than your own skin, and always ready to strike a bargain. Just wait at a lonesome crossroads at midnight if'n you need riches, skills, or vengeance. Scratch got all three in spades. You’ll know them by their smile and by the way their boots don’t fit quite right. Only takes one kind of currency—but you probably wasn’t using it anyhow, was you?" "There's a little black train a-comin; Best get your business right / For that dark train's a-comin' on, And it may be here tonight" A Stranger Comes to Town You don't have a horse? She'll get you one. You don't have money? She'll get you some. Her shadow is cast wherever she stands, stacks of green paper in her red right hand. (Click for more) Took me a while, but I finally got Western Sophie and her crossroads signpost painted up. Added a couple of signs from other sprues. She's a beautiful sculpt. While we're on the topic of the Weird West, here's Agent Sam of the Treasury Bureau. A grab-bag WotC aaracokra mini that used to be dull bland white with brown armor; I gave him a bit of pizzazz and a nice hat. My Weird West games are warlock-patron intensive, and this fellow definitely serves the Spirit of the Age. Wings, talons, and authorization from the Treasury bureau is a formidable combination. More Guest appearance by the skeletal WWWizard of Oz scarecrow, 80059: "...Oh, that dark train's a-comin' on; Prepare to take a ride."
  2. We needed a vulture for Rangres shadowdeep and I remembered I had a toy eagle. I was surprised by the level of detail on it and I like how it turned out.
  3. Hi all This is my first time posting on here. I recently returned to the hobby following a 10 year hiatus, and this is the fourth miniature I have painted since returning. I'd really love some feedback or constructive criticism as I seek to improve. The miniature is 'Lars Ragnarson, Viking', the base was scratch build using plaster of paris and sculptamold and the eagle is from Reapers 'Wizards Familiars pack VIII'. I wanted to give a snowy mountain peak feel.
  4. I’m working on trying to get this big guy painted to tabletop standard by the time I have to use him at our next Pathfinder D&D session to represent the Roc King on Tilagos Island in the Demiplane of Last Resort, in the Age of Worms adventure path.
  5. As you are probably already aware, there is an official Middle-earth D&D 5e setting being released this Summer by Cubicle 7. This will no doubt create strong demand for figures for people's campaigns. I've noticed there are numerous figures already in production that will adapt well. The orcs in KS3, the Mountain Troll in KS2 (a tad Jackson-esque, but perfect for a big Olog-Hai or the like: MORE OF THESE!), the ogres in KS3 (perfect Tom, Bert, and William-MORE PLEASE!), the Balor from KS2 makes a passable Balrog (assuming Balrogs have wings), many dwarves, etc. This is only natural, as D&D is substantially derivative of Tolkien and Reaper's choice of subject matter is substantially derivative of D&D. Now obviously, lacking a license, nothing would be official, and trademarked names would be verboten. However, with this firmly in mind, my question is this: a) which figures already in production do you think work best as Middle-earth characters, monsters, etc., and b) what would you like to see to fill out the traditional Middle-earth bestiary in any potential KS4 or LE KS, bearing in mind that as the actual number of different species of monsters will be more limited, a variety of weaponry, poses, armour, sexes, and the like will be important
  6. All I managed to do during the Thanksgiving weekend was a roundup of primed figures. It is a bit of a mixed bag: all totaled I found six Reaper figures and a motley assortment of others. A lot of them are GW but I am none too sure about the big brown mud [?] elemental. Not pictured above are one additional plastic archer and a female, metal, swashbuckling figure from Reaper (and that is Bloodmane the Gnoll hiding behind the Mud Man or whatever he is). If anybody knows either: a) what, who or who made the Mud Man? b) whether the Coven Witch (next to the dwarf) has a name? ...please post, I would love to know
