Started this back before I realized the translucent figures benefitted from an undercoat of clear varnish. Finally finished for RCL.

I was sent a free hell cat with an order, thank you. Not sure if I want to keep the glossy look (looks better on the table) and still debating basing it up fully. The one leg was really warped when I got it too, but a little boiling fixed it. Thanks for lookin 🙂

Another squad from the MTG board games that I bulk bought. I painted these a few years ago, but I think they hold up okay (the foliage could probably stand to have some better highlights).

My stash will arrive today! I haven't done a WIP in a very long time , something I intend to remedy. I am extremely excited to get my hands on my contribution to Bones 5, the Whispering Ghoulsbane. Maybe more so than any prior piece I have made. Seeing as how I don't actually have the mini in had at this moment, Id thought I'd fill this space with some history about the concept. I like to watch reviews for feedback on pieces I've made (and learned a lot). A few review waffled on what the thing was, exactly. Part of me revels in this ambiguity -it is what you want it to be. That said it does have a mundane monster origin story.......wait, say, lets make a game of it! Which "old school" monster served as the primary inspiration for the Whispering Ghoulsbane? take a guess. Wait wait wait! it's here, at this very moment! Delivery! let the prepping begin. Step 1: Open the bag. That is all for now.

Here’s the first new project of 2022. I looked through the forums and saw a few versions of this based on the Redstone Triad. I will try that. I put a few pieces of cobblestone sheet styrene on the base, then flocked with sand. I hope it will look like fragments of an old road when I’m done.

I am pretty new to the hobby having started painting in February. I finally worked up the courage to post one of my completed projects in the hopes of getting some feedback. So here is my painted Large Earth Elemental from the Reaper Bones line. Any advise is very welcome as I would very much like to improve! Thanks!

I painted this up quickly several months back, to swell the ranks of water elementals. It was translucent blue, but I painted it opaque. I feel I have more control that way, and don't have the spiffy inks everyone says work so well on the translucent BONES minis. C&C Welcome.

I painted this large water elemental several months back to fill a gap in my water elemental supply. It started out translucent blue, but I painted it opaque. I haven't tried inking the transulcents like others have, I lack the inks, and feel I get good control with opaques. I wanted a simple beach sand looking base, to suggest he has washed up on the beach to harass sunbathers. C&C Welcome.

Here is a water elemental I finished a while back. Some of the pics look a little darker, as I messed with the gamma on the camera to try to prevent the white washing everything out. This is an oldie-but-goodie, with a sculpt that has a lot of character in the "face." I wanted it to look like it was coming up out of the water at the beach, so I made the base simple like beach sand. Enjoy. C&C Welcome, as always.

I was painting Kieran Tallowmire. I was quite apprehensive as I found that miniature to be quite daunting will all the detail (books, candle, familiar on shoulder ...). I first wanted him to be different ... so no grey robes, no blue robes ... I went for green, which totally did not work out. So he ended up with blue robes (was the easiest way to salvage the wreck that "dark green" had done). Of course, the way he is holding the book and his hand, he is conjuring something, but if green had worked, I would not have had an idea what - a plant maybe? Blue robes - water mage, water elemental. So I remembered that somewhere in my stash of 3D print files, where was a baptismal font, which looked like it could be used with Kieran. The next idea was to get some water sprite / elemental that was conjured out of the font ... and with a 3D file you can scale and reduce the size, so that is what I did with a water elemental / Water snake I had. A couple of mishaps later (me using liquid water for the first time, for example, and discovering that my version dissolves normal plastic glue) ... this is the result: I really think I had some good ideas, I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with my execution - but as I usually strive for table-top quality, I think it's ok. The base is resin by Fenryll ... Thinking about using red on the runes outside the pentagram ... or do the blue, too? Or just leave them as they are? Criticism welcome.

My painting time is pretty limited these days, but I still fit it in here and there. I find elementals to be excellent and relaxing subjects for brief speedpainting sessions; their crude natures are very forgiving for the time-constrained. This guy is a pretty hefty piece of metal & a nice unique sculpt.

Hi all, Not only is this my first WIP post, it's actually the first pic shared of anything I've ever painted with anyone (excluding family). A bit nervous, but figured I would try it out to help achieve my work goals. Got this guy with the first Bones Kickstarter, and always envisioned painting him up like an infernal from the Warcraft universe. (Side question, what is the policy on posting reference material?) Right now he's mostly just basecoated and drybrushed with lighter greys, but I'm planning to make some glowing eyes, and some glow coming from between the major cracks between rocks and his fists. It's my first attempt as OSL, so I'm going to go pretty basic. I almost scrapped the glow completely, but hey, fortune favors the bold, right? Really glad I got him in Bones. I have a copy of him from the old P-65 line (unpainted, unopened), and there is no way I wouldn't end up dropping him during the course of painting. -MvM

Tried something different with this Fire Elemental over the weekend. I had already painted this fig in the traditional red/yellow/smokey colors earlier and had a blast with it, so I decided to give it another shot. I thought purple would be neat, so I just ran with it. Being a native Minnesotan, I'll be calling this The Prince Elemental after The Purple One. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'm looking forward to unleashing this funky elemental on a party in need of some soul. Comments and critiques are welcome as always, thanks in advance!

This is an old mage knight figure I stripped (yes, it is possible. Not easy, but possible. It's also not always worth the time and energy involved) and then repainted. Painted to table top. Let me know what you think. Better view of the base. Yes, it's got eyes, and they're painted!

Used Tamiya clear blue to coat the Water Weird and Reaper paints for the well and highlights.
