  1. Since the Eye Beasts are making good progress, getting the next model ready. A suitable Player Character model. Turanil, Male Elf Paladin. The plan is white and red. I’m hoping the peacock comes across as a Phoenix.
  2. Presenting Lysette, a mage from the Bones USA line by Reaper. Started on this one back in January, but got stuck on her dress so she spent a while in the Cupboard Of Unfinished Things. Unfortunately, my camera doesn't like her sky blue hair and it's really blown the colours out, she looks a tad better in hand. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  3. ....and when the last crumbs of hope were lost, from the deeps of the elven forest, came a heroine! Alright, this happened to be an interesting project. I'm guessing Fiara lost a bunch of details when going from metal to plastic bones. At some point, I felt like there wasn't much to work with. I ended up free-handing some of the details. Also, blacklining seemed to help quiet a lot. I originally wanted to use metalics on the sword, but at the last moment decided for NMM. As always, all sorts of feedback is welcomed! 🙂 P.S. For the love of God, I could not take a good p
  4. Finished my first mini this year, and oddly enough it was a speedpaint, taking just over an hour... On the flipside, some of those colours work together really, REALLY well, like Sunrise Orange and Heart Throb Paint.
  5. Here's an odd one. Anyone know of a miniature of someone over-bundled up against the cold? I have this vision of an elf who has made his home in a frigid land despite being unaccustomed to the weather. Just wondering if there's a playful model like that out there of a character wearing too many cloaks and scarves. It's not-essential but I would love the opportunity to bring this weird character to life. ---- As an addendum, if you have suggestions for models that could be easily converted I'm also interested. Or resources for sculpting scarves and the like.
  6. I love me some weekend painting! Got another one from the 90's batch of Ral Partha's. This one is a Drow Elf. Was feeling like trying some of the darker skin tones after watching another RVE on it. Feels pretty good! BATTLE REPORT! Wins: * Skin combo: Black Brown, Black Red, Orange Red. Used in conjunction with one another. The highlights are still on the darker side, but you can still make out muscle and shape. Win! * Used copper/brown combo to bring this guy to life. Feels very warm, but still needs some kind of "pop" color somewhere. I
  7. I had started this meaning to use it for the reapercon quad color clash. But I took too long and then decided it need another 3 colors. So technically it's 7 color. Mint green vampire mist, dungeon grey, some old hd blue who's label fell off, carbon grey, shadowed stone, golden glow.
  8. I already have the human blacksmith, but I wanted another blacksmith. Unfortunately I applied the paint to thick at parts (which didn't really help the fact that her face was kinda just a tiny glob already) but Ive got a wet palette that Ill be trying to use next time. I'm also absolutely awful at painting female faces, they always look ridiculous once I paint them haha. Anyways, and criticisms and advice are always welcome
  9. So some times you just done get things finished with the deadline you have imposed on yourself and this elf was one of those self-imposed deadlines. I wanted to have her done by Christmas, but just got too busy with other miniatures and other things. I got this figure if I recall last Christmas when I won her with some others on a Reaper Christmas Giveaway on Twitch. Here she is: Always thought she was a cute little figure. The other ones I want but they haven't sold them for a few Christmasses now are the two elves, naughty and nice. But one of these d
  10. I don't really like this sculpt, they've cut corners too much for my taste, but as I painted Drizzt it grew on me. Has some kind of charm and I like it now hope you will too! (click on the image for better quality)
  11. Finally I finished my conversion of Nienna Elfen Ranger. I pretty much changed every aspect of the original mini. New things attempted: Cloth textures and freckles. C&C very welcome. Areas to improve: Blends (smoother is always better), finer texture patterns, sculpt could be a little cleaner in some places.
  12. My take on 54mm Zweothel. Join my Patreon and Instagram to see more https://www.instagram.com/story1000suns/ Vote for her on P&P https://www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/27985
  13. Good morning Reapermaniacs, So here's one I've had painted for about a week or so but have never just gotten around to sit down at my normal computer to post him. This one is one I've actually had for a long time, and it's an old lead version back from the seventies. I had to at one point I think scrape off some paint. I had another newer version of him, but the detail was pretty soft so ended up painting up the original, whose details were so much more nice and crisp. And being he was a "high" elf, I wanted him to have some nice light colors, no greens and
  14. Not seen many painted examples of this mini, which is odd because I love the pose and demeanour of her. I've sketched in the basic colours but it's not really speaking to me at this point. I think I could do something with tweaking some shades and maybe introducing a spot colour to lift it. I can't decide how to paint the tassles, for example. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears - which reminds me, I added big elfy ears to the model, should it look odd to anyone. I'd love to see anyone else's version of this mini, too.
  15. I've had this one in the works for a while. She's a little more cheerful and Art Noveau than most of the rest of my Miskatonic staff, but that's okay! Misk.U. cultivates eccentrics of all types. She seems to be handling the job just fine. And those pointed ears indicate she's already survived a brush with chaos, or perhaps has a little bit of eldritch in her. Her colleagues are a Stonehaven halfling librarian and a Black Cat librarian/cultist. Gave them both a minor touch-up for this shoot.
  16. This is Peruhain, Elven Monk (SKU 3169, Metal) from Reaper. I am trying to paint up at least one of every main class/race combination.
  17. This is one of my favourite minis and I have been working on it for awile. I hmmd and hawd about how to base it but finalluy decided to do a simple raised cork base.
  18. Good evening gents and gentettes, So finally got another one finished this afternoon. I was working on him for a while now and got done painting him two nights ago, let him cure, got his base attached last night, and then this afternoon on my lunch break (working from home for the foreseeable future) got his grass stuck on and photos taken. So with this elf, I didn't want to just do him in either browns or greens, so went with yellows and oranges with some leathery colors instead. I also did his bow thinking of more of an ivory bow, so off white. There were a few other
  19. And here is another figure I just finished, a classic Tom Meier Elf Princess. This was from the Personalities and Things that Go Bump in the Night Range, sculpted in the eighties. This was the second version of this figure, the first one far more simple. Anyhoos, lots of flowers and she's a pretty small figure, so hope you enjoy the mini! She's not currently available on the old Iron Wind web site, but she was fun to paint just the same!
  20. Finally managed to get a mini off my shelf of shame. This guy belongs to one of my players the he had asked me to paint up back in 2017. The tunic was kind of a joke, but we decided to run with it. Last game session, he had used the bathroom and everyone was giving him a rough time about needing to have to repaint my bathroom given how long he was in there, and the fact that no one else could use it for the next hour. As suggestions of color schemes were being thrown out, one player suggested pearlescent green. I wasn't too thrilled with that, but it said how about a pearlescent cr
  21. I am trying get the -in my opinion- less enjoyable player character-type minis out of the way, which will let me do the more fun monster minis when finishing up the core set, hopefully letting me keep up the motivation to actually get the entire set done as I have wowed to do. #150 This Elf Barbarian reminds me of Final Fantasy for some reason...might be the subtle and understated sword-thing. 25mm base.
  22. So here is one I've recently finished, a Thunderbolt Mountain Elf maiden miniature. I really love Tom Meier's miniatures, but they have such fine detail and such small eyes it's hard to get in there even with a small pointy brush. I wanted to give her light clear colors, so hopefully that worked out. The one other item on this was being she was blonde and her face is so small and delicate I didn't give her eyebrows, which I normally would do. Anyhoos, have a look, hope you enjoy:
  23. So here's the accompanying elf guy that was in the same set that the female elf that I painted a few days ago came from. They both actually had a little sprue of extra items you could put in their hands, but of course I didn't put anything in their hands. Why, you ask? No idea, I think it was the fact that I would have to choose one of them. and here they are together: Just like the maiden, I couldn't bring myself to paint eyebrows on the guys, because the faces are so small and delicate, I didn't want to put some huge unibrows on them.
  24. I am trying get the -in my opinion- less enjoyable player character-type minis out of the way, which will let me do the more fun monster minis when finishing up the core set, hopefully letting me keep up the motivation to actually get the entire set done as I have wowed to do. #154 This is the kind of whip that works in Bones material as it will not break like it would in many other materials. Whip it! Whip it real good! 25mm base.
