  1. This is the last of the Elves I have (I have some dupes, but I'm holding off painting them). With all the horses that I have been playing with; I decided to do a Gray. Of all the colors, a gray horse is going to make you work very hard for your color. Its either TOO dark, or TOO Light.. Realize then when you start. So I have painted the horse Gray already. I just have to glue the rider onto his Horse. I may do some independent painting on the figure before I attach him. I have lined the rider at this point. I'm thinking of Blues, and Silvers, with Reddish/brown oak leaves on Horse, an
  2. This was a quick tabletop paint job for a friend who is playing an elf mage in a DnD campaign. I was worried about how it would look finished as there are quite a few areas that were miscast such as the hands and the metal areas of the armor. This was also the first time trying a new light set up for photos. Any input would be appreciated.
  3. We know the wallet pain will be starting soon..
  4. I did some quick paint jobs on the Bones set of pirates. Here's the first, which I painted as a drow for game purposes.
  5. Well here she is! I'm having camera problems again, probably because this is the first time I've used photocopied backdrops. The camera isn't having it as the pics came out pretty grainy, and these are after enhancement. At any rate, Liriel is finished! I may break out the Nikon or a borrowed Canon for better pics, but I'm ready to get her out of my hair. Also, Jazzy wants everyone to know that she picked out where the flowers and tuft went. LOL! Enjoy, and comments are always encouraged and appreciated! Close-up, her left eye still freaks me out... Thankfully it looks good at normal
  6. After sitting on my desk for a few months, I finally finished Lysette in bones. After working with her on and off, I would really like to get her in metal. Comments, critiques, and feedback greatly appreciated. I'm at a plateau in my painting and could use a good kick in the rear to get to the next level.
  7. I posted a diorama here a few weeks back, but it was never meant to be permanent. I was finally able to remove them all from the diorama and base them all. They are a team to me now and tried to keep the bases simple and matching. Deathsleet's base took me a lot longer and I'm pretty happy with it. Diorama link here if you are interested. I hope you enjoy.
  8. Finally finished Lysette (Bones 77076), who were meant to enter the beauty pageant, but she got lost on my work table... Also finished Lindir (Bones 77021) at last, he was lost on that same workbench for about 9 months...
  9. New company starting up. Only asking for $6,500 and only have a few miniatures and busts for sale. Kind of refreshing to a degree to see. Also everything is already sculpted. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1095811188/olde-world-miniatures-kickstarter They've got an Elf sculpted by Anakron (one of my favorite sculptors) Some cool goblins And some dwarfs, though I know no one cares about them. Some cool busts and a werewolf as well.
  10. Lot of heart and bits of my soul went into this. I took about a hundred pics, in a hundred different ways and pulled a handful of my favorites. They are all Reaper minis and the Dragon is Deathsleet. I wanted a Water Dragon with an excuse to try some water effect stuff for the 1st time. Not sure how long that wall of water spell will hold him back, but it doesn't look like Meriseil is waiting to find out. I hope you enjoy :)
  11. My brother's character in the game I'm DMing. He's an elf cleric with the Travel domain who spends a lot of time flying. I built the corner of a Viking-inspired rooftop to evoke height.
  12. I'm still fairly new to this hobby, and I've decided that my impatience is harming my paint-jobs. I've therefore decided to jump on board Inarah's challenge and paint Lysette. I'm hoping people here can help analyse my process and identify why, precisely, I suck :) Just some shadow coats for now: Vallejo Yellow Olive, Auburn Shadow, Fair Shadow and Flesh Wash: The eyes aren't quite working for me at the moment. Any suggestions?
  13. So here's the WIP for my summer exchange mini, 03482 Lauren Silver sail, elf pirate. She was primed white, and then washed with Army Painter "Dark" tone to bring out the shadows; this was done as a blacklining step, as well as bringing the white primer down a step. The skin was done with the Rosy Skin triad; shown here is, I believe, Rosy Shadow. This is where my picture taking started breaking down; I painted a lot at Paint Night with friends. Her hair is Auburn Shadow; her skirt is blood red; we're on the mid tone of Rosy Skin, and her eyes are Sapphire Blue... I t
  14. The Bones version of Lysette, painted for Inarah's 1st Reaper Beauty Pageant. WIP here
  15. Painted this for a friend. He has an elven cleric he plays in a Pathfinder game.
  16. Here is the Bones Master List 'Let's Paint Reaper Bones!!!!!' of all WIP of the Bones Miniatures. Here are few Elves from my Bones: Turanil's Sword is my first try to paint with wetblendling. On the photo it is little more worse to see it. 77076: Lysette, Female Elf 77078: Astrid, Female Bard 77049: Arthrand Nightblade, Elf Ranger 77044: Turanil, Male Elf Paladin 77068: Anirion, Wood Elf Wizard
  17. Well it only took about 8 months but I finally finished it. This is a present for my sister, was going to be Christmas but instead now it's a birthday. The dwarf is from Center Stage and the elf is from Feeblades. You can see the WIP here. Didn't get to work on the elf as much as I would have liked, he's got about half the amount of time into him as the dwarf but since I painted them up six months apart I was able to use some of the improved (ie quicker) techniques so while it was half the time it's not quite as noticeable (though I really need a few more hours). The only real place
  18. Need help identifying this young lady. I painted her as a druid for a player in one of my groups. Any assistance finding the manufacturer would be greatly appreciated.
  19. Finished this lass last weekend, finally got a few pics. She has a sister that is done, but the pics decided not to cooperate yet. Yet.... Anyway, here she is, 03482 Lauren Silversail, Elf Pirate at large. Comments and criticism welcome. I didn't spend much time on bits not cloth or skin; those are my favorites to paint.
  20. Here are the two latest Bones. Almost running out of the current available, but I have plenty of other plastic and metal to paint while waiting on my Kickstarter reward. And two others. I recently had to repair these two after suffering a dropped case incident, and since they were on my desk I decided to snap some photos. This half dragon (supposed to be bronze, but I like the red better) lost both his arms. Luckily he knows a cleric who is high enough level to cast regeneration: This next one is one of my favorites. I was going for a desert ranger color scheme. Who says
  21. For one of my PFRPG games, the PCs will be running into a group of snakemen. I prefer my snakemen to have human torsos and snake lower bodies, but most of the snakemen minis are either snake-women that fit this description, or snakemen who are just huge snakes with arms. Now that Bones are coming, conversions are cheap, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I will be combining Lindir, Elf Archer with Vandorendra Demon [warning, store link nudity alert]. 30 minutes with an exacto knife and some greenstuff and he has a new pair of legs! Comments on the conversion are welcome, but they nee
  22. My latest foray into building a tabletop army worthy of Lothlorien (yes, I Have a slight thing for Tolkien elves, and elves in general) I went with a fairly basic look for this guy. grey cloak to blend in, blue tabard to show a bit of elven 'class' and a very simple base As always, please comment and critique. Especially if you see something you feel I should work on for the next mini.
  23. Well, this guy has been done for a while, but I only just got around to shooting him, it was such a nice day, i was able to use God's own lightbox. I'm quite happy with this guy.
  24. Here are my next two minis, Wood Elf Archer in Chainmail w/ Plates and Wood Elf Noble Lady in Traveling Clothes from Thunderbolt Mountain. They're 30mm but they are very small so this is probably gonna take a while. Here they are primed (I see I missed a spot): I'm anxious to see if I can paint their teeny tiny details, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
  25. In last nights' episode of The Big Bang Theory Leonard ran a little Christmas themed DnD campaign. I like that idea, so I'm gonna try to get my husband to run one next year (a little break from our regular story arcs). But I think I'll have better luck convincing him if I have our Christmas NPCs painted up and ready to go. I've already got Santa Dwarf and I'll be getting Krampus, but I need little workshop elves. All the elves in the reaper catalogue are too tall, and the gnomes aren't really suitable either. I thought of the Mites (60066) or the gremlins (03621) because they're the size I
