  1. So here is another one in my little series of old and new. I was actually going to post this yesterday as well, but I didn't have a good front shot. So this is a Grenadier Elf or Half Elf fighter, from their twenty-piece woodlands adventure box. I painted this figure way back in the eighties to be one of my player characters Renny back in the day when we played D&D at Star Realm in Omaha. Back then there was a buy named Bill if I remember correctly from Offutt who was our DM, another guy, I think Roy, and then another random assortment of teenagers. and a shot
  2. Hi everyone, I finished Tuilin tonight. Color scheme was dictated by my wife and 5-year old daughter, right down to the sapphires and yellow flowers. I like her a lot. This was my first attempt at black hair. Critiques welcome!
  3. Hey, @ub3r_n3rd, here's the figure that I managed to finish. The top clear coat makes it a bit shiny, but I've got it under harsh lights. With the very zoomed in picture I'm not exactly happy with the shading on the right hand side where it transitions from light to dark in the middle fold, but that was vexing me for a long time. It's the way I want it to look, but I'm not sure everybody's eye will interpret the shape that I wanted to illustrate. There's also a woodgrain painted on the bow, but it is very subtle and doesn't look to show up here. I guess that should hav
  4. Well, I finally got to a point on these where it would be worth it to post. These are my major projects that I will be working on for the next few months and all four are planned ReaperCon entries. Right now there is not much to see as they are just at the primer stage but the bases are built and also ready for paint. So from left to right we have the Dark Elf Assassin from Scale 75, Tarko from Scale 75's Fallen Frontiers line, Dark Sword's Wood Elf Warrior, and Reaper's own Crimson Herald. Please excuse the blurry pics, I am cleaning my apartment and this was the best place to tak
  5. I was stuck on another project, so I took a break and painted some other minis. This one looks better in real life... Color correction seems to be destroying the image :-/ Yendrensovith is an NPC in my currently-paused campaign; a drow of spectacular violence and a complicated past. For the curious, more information is available here.
  6. Stared work on this guy finally! I sculpted the base myself. I really like that he is slight bending at the knees which made him standing on the stairs i made look more authentic. On to the painting! Texture is the name of the game from this weekend. GW: Vomit Brown (which is like a yellow brown) on the tunic. Several coats until I could not see grey from the primer. GW: Vomit Brown & Leather White (my favorite paint bottle ) [4:1] - To do some upper highlights on the all the raised areas. Dotting or Stippling with a Mixture: GW Vomit
  7. A while ago, Sodapop Miniatures released the Deeproot Scout- a character I think we can all agree had some inspiration in Nintendo's favorite elf. Naturally, my favorite incarnation of the Hero of Time to base him on (Link to the Past) as seen here The hair is red (even pink) because I was working from the pixel art rather than the art in the book. More recently, Sodapop released a resculpt of the character- so I decided that the best thing to do would be to level him up a bit. So here is my Deeproot Scout painted up as Link with Blue Male, the reforged Master Sword, red shield and
  8. Another wip, this time is alastriel the sorcerer, i wanted to give her a dark elf look, and now feels like im gonna explode trying to paint the hair
  9. For your consideration, I offer Nolevniss Azrinae: Reaper Miniature 60162. Or in this Multiverse: Elariel Moonshadow This elf Magi was an active sculpt to paint. The robes and cloak are dynamic in portrayal of wind movement and direction. The robes were long and laying folded in back, which suggests weight and volume. Limited palette with work on suggesting different textures of cloth. Teeny eyes. Delicate sculpt too with the hair and features. And the familiar was an enjoyable if not surreal sculpt. I was told by the person who wanted this painted, "And paint the baby dragon gold."
  10. Greetings Folks! Just a quick tabletop quality paintjob of Galadanoth, Elf Sniper from the Bones 3 Kickstarter - complete with wonky eyes...... Thanks for looking!
  11. These are the Wizkids unpainted pre-primed Elf Sorceresses (SKU WZK72606). I painted these up in April, just got around to adding basing and taking photos. For the price I think they are great, but they are definitely not as nicely detailed as the renders. I decided to paint one up in a druidic color scheme. I had issues with her face, since the faces are true scale, not heroic. Not my best face, but its for tabletop, so it will do. Also her hand didn't have any finger definition, so I painted it as a knitted mitten.
  12. Nice to paint something small again. Probably one of many Drow to come.
  13. Here is a very familiar face. I painted this guy up for my Brother so he could use him to represent his character in our Dungeons and Dragons games.
  14. I finished Reaper's Valloa, Female Elf Thief (SKU 3566), a fun little figure with a lot of attitude. I am very happy with the blond hair on this one. Her face was a bit miscast, so her one eye is a bit weird. There had to be some reason she decided on this career choice...
  15. 14375: Volendria and one of my kickstarter roosters
  16. Custom Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild inspired Paint scheme on elf warrior. The model is a 3D printed model and was brought to me by a customer She requested a Legend of Zelda inspired paint scheme based on a photo she provided of her character from the game. I really enjoyed doing this and translating the original art on to the model and I cant wait for a customer to bring me another challenge like this again. As allways if you liked this I post more pictures like this on my FB Page. Facebook.com/TabletopGlory
  17. One of my players bought this figure to represent her sylvan druid. She wanted her painted like a Sylvari from Guild Wars 2. I used her description from her backstory to determine her skin, hair, and eye colors. She said she thought Lily would wear "natural" colored clothing. I initially thought greens with some purples (my favorite colors) but with her hair being bright green as requested, I didn't think green leaves would show up in her hair. I decided to go with autumn leaves for her hair and wrists. When deciding on how to do her clothes, I thought of doing them like an autumn
  18. So.... have you ever started something you thought looked cool as hell... then way into it you just go "$&@% balls!!!"? Kinda what i'm feelin for this piece. Its my third and for a d&d campaign. its basically supposed to be a dark elf sorcerrer but since my elf wizard mini I had on hand at the time was ... well defective on arrival. I figured it was close enough and i'd swap him in (hence my attempt at a fire sword to give any indication of the fire heavy wizard i actually am playing). I primed in dark grey which is what i had at the time. (wish i'd waited for black for this color sche
  19. Ok so I'm 5 months from 40 and never painted a model in my life. But a group of friends and I have recently started a D&D 5e campaign on guys trip and really got into it. However it soon became apparent that stick pins and grid board suck. So i wanted to get some minis for our game.... I was looking at pre paints but those are few and far between or over priced so watched a few Youtube videos... got an itch and firgured why the hell not.... so since i live in bumfuq nowhere i ordered from amazon and ebay the types of figures i needed for our characters a dwarf cleric, elf ranger, and elf m
  20. Here's another batch of Talisman 4th Edition mini's. These have been great models to practice on, but good grief the production quality is bad. Also still having trouble figuring out how to take decent pictures. Was having problems with them being too dark, now I'm going the other direction. Thief Monk Warrior Elf
  21. I've made quite a few different cake toppers for some of the videogame fans out there. A lot of them prefer to feature the bride and groom holding videogame controllers or such, but sometimes we go a bit further. Here are a few cake toppers featuring elven bride and grooms that I've really come to enjoy. As with all the cake toppers I've made, these are completely custom built and customizable- the couple chose the poses and all the details.
  22. Well in light of my February goals to finish her up, I'm calling Ami abandoned err.... Finished! I liked the model and started her as soon as she came in the mail. I decided I to use her as a test color for the huntress model from knight models I plan to paint later this year. She is not the best piece I have done but I had fun painting her. Know I'm debating getting a second model to put her in a more urban setting, someday. I even came up with a backstory in my head as I painted her (anyone else do that?). Well here is the result of my work on Amiryth Elmlighter Thanks
  23. Merryn Elmshadow, Female Elf Thief (Reaper SKU 2590) is a classic Sandra Garrity sculpt. Other than the studded leather, I really enjoyed painting this one.
  24. Funny how at an early stage of painting things get really messy, then eventually come together. This is where I'm at now, having come from this: which is a photo of the metal version, though the one I'm painting is plastic. The details survived surprisingly well for a first-generation Bones casting. I wanted to get this started before I was too far along and just shot with my built-in webcam that does not like to shoot macro. Better photos when I don't feel so rushed. I feel I might be oversharing a fair bit here.
