Painted up the elves from Bones V, but the sword weilding one was not with his unit! So I pulled out Elanter as their leader. I must say, I still never get the groove of painting a unit.... but I really wanted these elves for the game so I went for it. Others have been more creative with these and/or more skilled - but they look a lot better than when they were unpainted 🙂

Looks like these guys are back, with a pretty huge collection of new options (all resin). The usual suspects (orcs, elves, goblins, adventurers), but a fair number of unique sculpts (these were the guys who had an entire set of orc villagers doing domestic tasks their first go round). Also some terrain pieces, and some models offered at 75mm scale for painters (mostly $36-38, which is pretty good for cast resin at that scale). Their first project delivered good quality models that matched pretty closely what the renders showed in terms of crispness and detail. I backed them then and am doing so again. Sounds like this time they are much further along in design and tooling as well. Looks like they’ve pared down the size of the groupings this time, with individual humanoid size figures coming in around $6-7 before any volume discounts, which seems pretty reasonable when compared with other high quality resin. Posting a few sample images below, but there’s a lot more. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firstlegion/the-siege-of-amaldorus-lethy?ref=profile_created

This KS launched yesterday, and is already funded(with two stretch goals unlocked)! 😄 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/galladoria/factions-of-galladoria Factions of Galladoria gives you a set of scenery pieces themed around four different factions: Humans, dwarves, elves, and orcs! They all have their own, unique takes on beds, tables, chairs, chests, and even siege engines! Ever wanted to make a dwarf specific tavern? Well, here are beds, tables, chairs, and more for that. How about an orc specific barracks? This KS has got you covered! I'm rather excited for this KS. The stuff is made in the US, so supply chain issues shouldn't be a problem. And there's a lot of cool stuff here at very good prices! At the lowest (unpainted) pledges, it's between $1.1 and $1.5 per mini in each accessory pack and $10 per siege engine, which is already decent prices in my personal opinion. But if you go for the "unpainted all in" pledge (8 accessory sets and 4 siege engines) of $120, it's only 75% of that, which averages out to about a dollar per mini in the accessories, and $7.50 per siege engine! 😄 $120 nets you the unpainted version of everything in the picture above, btw! Plus any non addon stretch goal stuff! But there are a bunch of other options as well! It all looks really good as well, and each accessorry set has both regular beds and bunk beds, which I find really cool! 😄 Oh, and it's possible to get everything hand painted as well! Current stretch goals map: Btw, this is Galladoria's new KS campaign after they cancelled the fortress one, which was just too big of a project. Also, I'm not affiliated with them, just very enthusiastic! xD

Hello all you Reapertoniks! Here's a few more Partha classics, three more elves sculpted by Tom Meier in around 1976-1977, a musician that belongs I think to a command group, the commander with that command group, and a female elf that I think came separately? Used the same color schemes I had for my earlier elves, hope you enjoy!

Hello Reapervites! So here are three more Wood Elf figures, been working on a group of these and getting them finished little by little. With them all, want them to be kind of the same but a little bit of variety, so tried to vary clothing colors and hair colors, but keeping it all in natural and autumn colors, browns, greens and oranges/yellows. So anyhoos, here are three more: Tried to some freehand that would tie in on the shield and banner. My freehand is sometimes not the greatest, but oh well, give me something to want to learn better! So enjoy!

Classic Ral Wood Partha Elves, sculpted by Tom Meier
72moonglum posted a topic in Show Off: Painting
Hello all you Reaperlodytes! Continuing the work on some old school goodness, more Ral Partha elves from 1976 I think: These are all wood elves, and I've got some more coming, so I'm trying to get them painted in browns, yellows, oranges and greens. These are their two spearmen. Just like the Elven Princess, back in the pre-history of miniatures. Super straight forward, a little awkward, amazing to compare these to Tom Meier's more recent figures!- 8 replies

Last Sword Miniatures is adding an Elven Army to their ranks. It also comes with some terrain. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lastsword/elven-lords-the-tree-kin?ref=recommendation-projectpage-footer-3

Good evening my Reaperhoovians! So just finished up this little blister pack of Shadowrun Elves sculpted by Ral Partha either latter eighties/early nineties, by Dennis Mize. Two ladies and two gentlemen, challenge as always was figuring out what colors I wanted for them. Being it's all funky monkey science fictiony, can't help but thinking of a little more lively colors and lively hair colors for the most part. and I figured the last figured I'd do as a Drow, no idea if there are any Drow in Shadowrun but painting's not solving world peace or saving lives, so even if there are no Drow in Shadowrun, nobody will lose a finger. And here's the group as it's all together: I wanted them to fit all in one page so I didn't put them on bases, and I painted the rim black, and I can see a little bit of irregularities on that. Not sure if I may eventually actually either repaint the base or actually put them on bases so they don't fall over. The biggest problem is after I take them off their temporary base, I don't want to touch them and that's where it all gets tricky. Anyhow, a problem for later, hope you enjoy these in the meantime!

Good evening all you Reaper Spirits! So just finished these two, that I think to belong in a single blister, but not quite sure. Ral Partha High Elf fighters, a male and female. With High Elves, I always have color issues, but end up invariably towards blues and grays. Just a few of a great number of elf figures Chris FitzPatrick sculpted for Partha back in the day! Enjoy!

Here is a tabletop elven trio. I am satified they will help fill out the ranks of my eerie forest setting... I liked these better than the other wizkids elves I painted - mostly because the cloaks seemed less rediculously billowy. Pretty decent depth to details too. They seem very elvy to me. s

A new Kickstarter from Durgin Paint Forge coming late September / early October. Wasn't a backer of the previous ones, but I don't think there's been any issues. They've been working away at this one for a while, so most of the minis have already been previewed on their blog. Now live:- https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/durginpaintforge/the-elves-of-inneath-32mm-fantasy-miniatures?ref=user_menu

Here is a trio of Wizkids elves painted up for tabletop. It was very annoying to get to the bowman's face - so its not really painted in detail. I have mixed feeling about wizkids humanoids.... I feel a bit grumpy about how these didn't turn out, but its' my fault... I do like the yellow velveteen effect I got on the one cloak...

So here is my latest little group of miniatures, some vintage Ral Partha Elven Personalities from the Personalities and Things that go Bump in the Night line, sculpted by Tom Meier. These are pretty small figures, back when 25 mm meant that size. So they came out okay. What I actually like the best is the female's color of her dress, which is actually the Master Series Paint Bright Skin Shadow. I think it turned out kind of an enjoyable peach color. Biggest pain in the posterior was the buttons on the chick's "girdle/belt/thingamajig. I wanted to do them as jewels but they were so small, just made them metal buttons. Anyhow, enjoy!

#151 Elf Swordswoman of some sort. Maybe a straight-up fighter? From the "Elves" subset.

#153 Elf Swordswoman of some sort. Maybe a paladin? IRL, the Cape has some nice shading going on, but it does not show up in the washed out pictures. All the minis look better when not magnified as in the pictures. 25mm bases. Not my most inspired work.

I figured it was time to work on some Elves. They're definitely the smallest part of my painted collection. The first batch is all from Reaper Miniatures. These are the metal ones: The Drow who snuck in (from the box of Goodwill, no less) More from Reaper, but this time in Bones: And the others. Mostly Stonehaven

Hi everybody, Our Feral Lands campaign is going live on Tuesday, and I would like to share a draft since I always got valuable feedback in this forum. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/westfaliaminiatures/1220483270?ref=514475&token=8affa265

So @Zink's thread here... ...inspired me to try my hand at creating an Elven catapult with Fusion 360 and my printer. Rather than hijack his thread anymore, it's time to create its own thread. I'm not anywhere near done, but I went ahead and printed out a prototype of my design so I could get a better feel for things and tweak it. Here is Sir ForScale checking over the construction so far: I'm glad I decided to print out a prototype now. I found that my tolerances are too tight for some of the assembly, and that I need to fix how the center piece goes in. I could probably merge it all into one piece, and print it as a single piece, or maybe two, but I am trying to keep the pieces fairly flat so that it can be mailed in an envelope. Trying to figure out what elven looking wheels without spokes would look like, as I think spoked wheels might be too delicate to print at this size

A new kickstarter from the folks at Westfalia coming in August. An interesting and somewhat different take on elves.

I’ve been chipping away at the 1/72 scale fantasy project this morning, with three Caesar elves and a Maid Marion from the old (sculpted in 1964) Airfix Robin Hood set. Assuming I get them based by Sunday, this would bring me up to 33 figures for the month. It hasn’t been too bad, considering all the Christmas hurly-burly.

The project I've been working on for the past two weeks: Ariel and Orion, queen and King of the wood elves from Warhammer fantasy setting. Their background is quite simple actually, clearly inspired on Titania & Oberon of the fey people. Ariel is a mage, Oberon is the hunter. I decided to paint them with opposite schemes: Ariel with an autumn palette (the flow of her dress made me regret it many times: it could have looked great in blue) and Orion with an spring one. Both are classic characters from Warhammer. Both metal models. Ariel's is really old: probably around 4th-5th edition; there was also an Orion model back then, but mine is the rework from 8th edition. While Ariel's original model shows its era aesthetics but it's still appealing, I thought Orion's original model was outdated and not that good. While painting them, Orion took a lot more time (a lot more), since it has a lot more detail.
