If you have read it you know what happened to him, not a nice ending. But here we can see the good Colonel in his better days. There's some blood on his sword, he probably just killed one of those pesky reptilians. Now on to the Golden Citadel!!! If only he knew... Enjoy, critics,likes, rotten tomatoes all welcome. I'm happy he finally made it, his sword broke about 4 or 5 times.

This old Games Workshop mini is from about 1986. I think I had gotten him in a pack of minis because I have several others from the same line. I think I bought the pack mainly for this guy. He was my favorite, and I painted him solid black with silver trim. This time, I went with copper colored armor. A long time ago I wasn’t down with the big snake on his head so I chopped it off. I used paperclip and some contour putty to resculpt it here. The shield glued on to a round knob on his fist. Trying to figure out how to incorporate that unconcealable circle on the shield, I went with a simple eye motif. Please let me know regarding the flaming sword. I made the flame with hot glue. I think flames are brightest/hottest at the base and fade to black smoke at the top. I’m not sure how well this paint job imitates Fire, so comments on how to improve would be greatly appreciated.

It's not that I haven't been painting, I just haven't been posting. I've actually completed some 40% of the Imperial Assault line since I started (focusing on what the Imperial player owns first). Ok, not much to say here. Just the basics, really: Rainy Grey, Ghost White, and Pure White. Pure Black where needed. The shields were done with the silver metallic triads (one triad per group). The batons were a silver metallic triad and the gun metal metallics. Not a lot of variety, but enough to spot the difference on the table. I've thought about going back after the visor lenses with some Adamantium Black, but somehow that sounds like too much work and I'm eager to be done with the troopers. So many troopers. Sooo much white. I'm planning on continuing the hashes on all the bases--With a few exceptions, you really don't see many situations where you'll have anything more than the regular unit and the elite. So paint one set of white marks on the regular and a set of red marks on the elites! Unique characters get a solid base without a mark. @Cyradis, I know the pictures aren't great, but I used the masking tape for the marks on the bases. I'd say it worked reasonably well, and came up easily even after making sure I had decent adhesion. I reused the same few pieces for each base, so there's some durability there. I would note, however, that the tape will work better if you have a large-ish and flat-ish area in which to work. The tape went down easily, pulled up easily, and provided a reasonable edge. Yes, I could clean it up a little, but at 3' away the little smudges aren't very visible. My next batch of minis will have something a little more suitable for testing the tape. I've got a couple Dewbacks that will need more than just the standard dull green.

I have recently been invited to a Kings of War Escalation campaign. I looked around my hobby room and much to my dismay found hundreds upon hundreds of unpainted models because I am a bad, bad procrastinator. As a result,I decided to do an Undead army, and have decided to use as many miniatures I already own rather than buying new ones, many of which come from the Bones Kickstarter 1, very very old GW models and some Mantic stuff I have had for years, the idea being that the undead army is a mishmash of former armies of ancient which all fought under the same banner, sworn to never rest until a great evil has been banished from the land. Plan is to work it up to 2500 points in a few months... We will see if I can keep my painting game strong. Here's the startings of Lord Calder's Host... Maybe you'll die on the field of battle a month from now when some unknown evil claws its way out of the earths to tear apart every man, dwarf and elf across the realm, dying in a pool of your own entrails to protect whatever sweetness you keep at home. Or maybe maybe you'll die old and wrinkled in your bed, a legend among men, songs sung and glories burned into the histories. We all die. All of us. A while back there was interest in my rendition of the legendary villain Darth Vader. All too easy. I'm not trying to go overboard with these charming Grenadier minis in terms of time commitment. Instead, I'm aiming for a clean tabletop look to keep them fast and fun between more involved projects. That said, it is Darth Vader and he was begging for some OSL with his pose. Who am I to disappoint the Dark Lord of the Sith? I speed-painted the OSL and, while it isn't perfect, it was great practice and helped boost my confidence with the technique. of the several pics I took this one really makes that lightsaber shine, so I went with the awkward side shot to highlight the effect. Other than the OSL the challenge was yet more black to paint. I tried to use differences in highlighting to emphasize the different textures for more visual appeal. While typically not too tough to do, the very small size of this miniature relative to what I normally work with made it a challenge. There is at least one other sculpt of Vader from the line, and I actually have another of these, so expect to see more of him. Yoda on deck, he is!

Painted these up for my FLGS's monthly contest. This month's theme was "brotherhood." My mind immediately went to the French Revolution, and its motto of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. Only got the one picture before I tossed it to the game store and went to drive to spend Thanksgiving with my folks. I might toss some more up when I get them back.

It's 1:30 here in Maryland... Just watching Bill and ted marathon with my son... Trying to get at least one mini painted each week. So we have an Age of Sigmar guy. I really like the armor design as it reminds me of Mordred's armor from Excalibur. Anyway golden armor with green accents. I like how it came out so when my box arrives this will probably be my paint scheme. Next it a combination of a kings of war basalean paladin (the legs) a warhammer empire great sword torso and arms/sword. And an empire knight head. A made him for a friend in my pathfinder game. The last picture is my wall of mostly un painted minis...

I recently ordered a GW Empire Hurricanum, mainly just so I could paint up and use the orrery that is part of the piece separately, in my D&D games for times when I want to set up a wizard's lab, or arcane library, or star gazer cult, etc. So I assembled and painted that part first. I am now assembling the rest of the piece and the miniatures and will try to paint them soon too, but I will leave the orrery unattached. It was fun to paint the different planets/suns as it was different than most stuff I have painted so far.

I wish I had something Reaper-y to post which showed more painting skill than this - the Reaper figures on this aren't really "painted" so much as "stained" - but it is the only thing I have with painted Reaper figures which I have got a picture of. I'll have to take some pics of the other Reaper minis I have done. Anyway; this is a Warhammer Celestial Hurricanum for the Empire, extensively converted / scratchbuilt. You can see the process of same here. I expanded on the "orrery" theme of the model, adding a flat world and a support for same made of elephants and a turtle, and put statues representing the zodiac around the edge. And, of course, I got those models from Reaper! Click for larger images; Hope people like this, and I am just sorry I don't have anything else "Reapery" to post which is painted. I am currently assembling and converting up my latest purchases, and will be able to have a nice pic of my Greatswords and Swordsmen which will have a lot of Reaper figures in.
