  1. A few touched up prepainted minis. I touched up a few of these a year ago, but today I decided to bring out the green stuff and stamp some new bases for them. The chimera and darkenbeast are from the D&D blind box minis. The peryton, falcon, and ruffian are from Pathfinder battles. The falcons were complete repaints, as the original was a brown falcon. I wanted an "eagle" with a celestial and demonic template, as our summoner was using them extensively at the time. I tried to make sure that the peryton had two different bases, as the paint scheme on them is identical and its nice to have some differentiation on the table so that you can track who has what damage. The falcons and the peryton are all "grasslands" stamp that I just painted differently!
  2. Hi all, With the new CAV2 Kickstarter ongoing, this motivated me to start painting my Terran force from the 1st Kickstarter. Paint job is my regular army "speed paint" quality, where I'm looking for the best look requiring the least amount of work. I decided to go with a more "desert" look to get these miniatures to look somewhat like GDI unit, so they will look nice when pitted against my Nod-like Rach force. (Rach Force: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/68610-cav-so-bones-rach-force-completed-reaper-voodoo-more). Falcon: Raptor: Vehicles: Incremental Group Shot: I still have a lot to paint, but I'm happy how they turned out so far. To be Continued...
  3. So here is my take on Kanaag, Half Orc Ranger, by Gene Van Horne. I was lucky enough to find the Artist's original Artwork (Travis Salonks) for this figure, from a 10 year old post! WiP Here... I did not like his weapons, so the item in his left hand was removed, and the blade of the right hand weapon was ground down with my Dremel Tool. The Falcon idea came when I could not think of something to add to his left hand... Lots of items I had no clue as to what they were, but the concept art explained them. Overall, a fun mini to paint. Pics: Close ups: Thanks for looking, and all of the suggestions folks made during the Wip! George
  4. Hey all! Need some opinions from you all on this guy: I like the figure, HATE the weapons! Not sure what this fascination with jagged edged blades, but I plan on swapping them out. The question is for what? Now the haft of the weapon in the figure's right hand (Whatever it is...) extends past his elbow to half way up his upper arm. So this leads me to think of it as more of a pole arm than a sword. Maybe not as the haft is 3/4 the length of the blade. Obviously a hand-and-a-half sword if not a 2 hander. The downward slope of his arm, and the way his thumb rests on top of the haft kind of rules out a sword for me anyway, as a sword of the right length would extend below the base, and his thumb is where the hilts would be. Digging through my weapons packs leads me to think that an axe is going to be my best bet, as an axe can be one or two handed, and the wrappings of the haft against his arm would work well on an axe haft. I suppose a mace or hammer could work as well.... I have the axe on the the right hand sprue, the one on the left hand sprue just doesn't seem big enough... And I have the two two-handed axes from the bottom middle sprue I suppose I could use the sword on the right hand sprue, the one next to the quiver, not the odd one... But the length takes it to the middle of the base's height, if not below... And he has no scabbard. So if you had this figure with the sword blade missing, which would you use? What would you do? He also has something in his left hand that looks like he is grabbing a bat and the out stretched wings are blades... What do I put there? As can be seen on the mini, he has daggers in different places, plus a bow and quiver. Do I just make it look like he is holding out a clenched fist??? There is some bit of a handle in his hand... So Ideas, thoughts opinions? I am beginning to sculpt a little bit with green stuff, but a whole weapon is not something to be done with GS from what I have read... But maybe a hammer or mace head? Thanks for looking and thinking! 8) George
  5. I have painted up a half dozen of the Mouslings from the Bones II Kickstarter for characters in a game with lots of odd races. This one is a hunter / falconer, except it uses a bee instead of a bird of prey. WIP thread here. Other figures in this group: Yeoman "Robin Hood", Druid, Ranger With Bow, Thief, Assassin
