  1. For the past few months I've been working on a series of articles and videos of advice for people working on entries for the MSP Open. (Or anyone looking to improve their painting a little.) I've reviewed the most common issues that we see with entries and tried to provide both good explanations and before and after photo examples. My plan was to put this up before ReaperCon so you have the opportunity to go over your entries and see if you want to change anything before the contest. (And I'm sure many of us are still frantically painting anyway!) Common contest entry feedback and solutions.
  2. Hey there! This is my first post-ReaperCon mini, and I'm using her to practice the various techniques that I learned in various classes. I'll be posting stages along the way, and feedback is very much appreciated! For starters, I've gotten most of the base coats down, and the first thing I practiced was two brush blending on her orange cloak. My plan is to do a bit of freehand along the trim in the light orange of the front skirt, and then use the same trim along the skirt in the dark orange of the cloak. It makes sense in my head, anyway! The chest armor is done with the new Dungeon Dwellers color "Kobold Scale", and I love it. It's got a deep maroon/brown thing going on. Thanks for looking!

    2014 Feedback

Now that ReaperCon (my first!) is over, I'd love to know what people thought about it, especially versus other years. I know I had a blast! Bring on the good, the bad, and the ugly.
  4. I really enjoy painting and am always trying to improve, I started this to post my minis pics and get advice and feedback. I recently made a light box and got a photog friend to help with settings on my SLR and do a quick process through GIMP. I can always give more info and take more pics of stuff (light set up, work space, equipment, different angle of mini etc) Any advice whether it be about painting, taking the photos or whatever would be amazing. I am going to post mainly Reaper bones but also Stonehaven and eventually Drake. I have to admit I came into my geekiness later in my life (only over the last few years) and have embraced it fully. I plan to go to my first con next year! Im a Kiwi (from New Zealand ;p) who now lives in Whistler Canada.. anywho on with the pics! This my character Risen im working on for the next campaign, He can use his tail to steal and wants to cure his cursed blood. A Bone from the vamp box. He is nearly done, I want to freehand the shield but im scared! and need to do the base and seal This is a friends char, An Avenger smiting all non believers. Another Bone. It was my first try at painting liquid in a bottle ( it came out ok not amazing though) need to do a base and seal. Risen and this model where my first go at NMM Luna Willows is the BBEG a doppleganger who has even killed children! She was a NPC who tricked the adventurers but this is her true form (spoiler for the players at my table but they dont read here) Bone from vamp box, I really like the colors but its hard to tell gloves, skin apart etc.. need to base and seal This is my first go on the editing software GIMP so any advice on that would also be great.. Thanks for taking the time to look
