The current center-piece of my Demonic Army, a Balrog "Balor." This is "Errtu, Balor" from the Legend of Drizzt D&D Board Game. I painted him up about a year ago and he was one of the first huge minis I ever attempted. There's a lot that I wish I'd done better looking back on it, but you have to make mistakes to get better! Here's a simple one for you today. Filling out my Demonic Army, we have a Barlgura, represented by an Ape Demon (77260). He seems a little small, but it works. Painted him up quickly the evening before a game sometime last winter. More Photos Beneath Spoiler: I've got more fiendish things to show you all, but this one is good for today. Who let the dogs out (of hell)? Hi everyone. Back again with some infernal pooches. These are the Hell hounds from the Bones 4 Fan Favorites Expansion. They were fun and challenging. All those glowing lava details were a pain. I think I managed to get them to turn out alright though. Also had fun with the lava bases. More Photos of the Hell Hounds beneath the spoiler: In all, I like these guys. Their bases were a lot of fun and really pop from a lot of my other minis. I'll be posting more of my infernal collection soon, but figured these were a great place to start. Which Hound turned out best?

This mini took forever to paint. Not really because anything I did with him was all that challenging, but because once I did one thing I realized that more stuff was needed. I couldn't figure out why the demon was holding a rock, so I decided it must be a spell effect. I liked the crackly rocks of the base, but decided it must be cooling magma. Then I decided that his base wasn't stable enough for his huge wingedness (the mini is metal and thus VERY top-heavy), so I extended it. Then I dithered about whether to just paint the lava or apply a resin of some kind. And on and on and on. Eventually I forced myself to be done. Here he is :-) C&C appreciated as I've definitely never done this many techniques with one mini. :-D

Here my latest work. I keep trying and trying with black: highliting black. I tried with blue for a while till I was quite happy with it, and now I’m trying with grey which is more difficult... it does show here, since it completely reads as grey skin but oh well, it’s still a job I’m happy with. That’s Be’lakor, one of the finest demon figures ever made by any manufacturer. First chaos everchosen, first mortal to ascend to demonhood, blessed and cursed, the lord of the dark...

A DaughterOfCheese abandoned the painting of this model, so it ended up in the Simple Green for awhile and I decided that her beautiful dress would look better with tentacles protruding from beneath it. Beautiful, sickly devil-flesh striding across a hellscape while she peels back her hood to reveal sinister horns. And it does get cold in hell, so don't forget your scarf. Or anyway, that was the plan. It turns out that her color made her difficult to photograph. The tentacles are formed around unwound paperclips, which were easy to twist into the right shape, but the flesh I added (green stuff, some clay, etc) was difficult to get to the right proportion without making it fall off. I'm new to this whole "modding" thing, so I'd LOVE feedback on it. :-)

Just finished up painting the skeleton archer I've been working on and decided on this guy as my next one up. Seems to be a devil or demon with a mask on maybe? I decided to to go with a purple cape and red skin on this guy. Probably make the axe gunmetal with some silver highlights. Not sure on the breast plate thingy he's wearing. Couple of details I've gone over in purple or red that will need changed. Comments and criticism welcome!

The demonic court is a troublesome place. A courtesan has to keep her blades at the ready...

Ever accidentally grab the wrong sealant and not realize it until it's too late? I am very happy with her hair though. The wing assembly came together with a piece of her hair that was somehow badly damaged and had huge gaps. This gave me an opportunity to try out Liquid Green Stuff for the first time! Her eyes were great, but unfortunately there's not enough contrast for them to be very visible under normal lighting. Astute observers may note that she's not actually a "chained" succubus. I suspect that the chain is probably wherever her hair ended up. :-)

He came out a little brighter than I intended, but I didn't want to just make him and his armor all black..so.

Some tabletop Lemures from Reaper Bones II and Center Stage miniatures. In D&D 5th Edition, the lemure is probably the wimpiest monster in the whole book, I think a standard goblin can kill at least 20 of them. Reaper Bones 77326: Center Stage Miniatures 003:
