  1. Another month another batch of Mushrooms & Associates. This month is a bit lighter than last. I started it toward the end of last month's Gang...which is still waiting on some Show Off photos. I am also hoping to squeeze in some Pumpkinheads & other Halloween strangeness elsewhere. More of that later. For now, The Mushrooms: With the ever popular Leo Sizechek for comparison: I got the idea to do a Mushroom/Goblin Wizard from this illustration: Mine is a bit seedier: A Goblin Faerie sidekick seemed appropriate. Appropriate or not I wanted to try out some paper punch butterfly wings with a foam coating inner layer: AND base coated & ready for color: More whenever.
  2. A few days ago I started a new type of Mushroom based on some Pinterest polymer clay pieces like this one: This one & his kin are quite a bit larger than the ones I make, but the detail is something to aspire to. Here is a step by step of my Mushroom in progress up to yesterday. This is the plumber's epoxy dolly: The Kneadotite (green stuff): I use the left over green stuff to make smaller versions of the Big Mushroom...you probably already notice that: There will be more of this type in varying sizes AND their bases coming along soon...or eventually.
  3. I have been wandering through the wonderfully inspiring photos on Pinterest. The Mushroom pictured there have created a need to make some new Faerie Folk Mushrooms of my own. I put up pic on my Last Hurrah Thread, but since this may be a protracted effort, I thought I would post here as well. These are a few of the ones I am doing versions of: The first stage dollies were made on Wednesday: Green stuffing & additional dollies on Thursday. Friday was lost to H&R Block, AND yesterday was a daze. Today my enthusiasm clicked into high gear. The result was the Two Tall Mushroom got their green stuff done, along with some work on the supporting cast: Since these pics were taken, I have done a base coating of black on the Tall Fellows, & finished the green stuffing on the medium sized mushrooms. Have I mentioned that I have a tendency to get carried away?
  4. I have been waiting somewhat patiently for C.M.o.N. to restock Enigma's Oz-Zuh, Moon Face for several months. Today I thought I'd try my hand at making a mini similar to Oz. This is Enigma's version...I would love to have mine paint up this nicely: This morning I did up a dolly: He looks like Howard the Duck at this stage: Some green stuff work on his face, the ruff collar, & a hooded cape: Now the Moon Faced Lad is one sleeve away from basic completion with only some embellishment that I may later regret to do: The green stuff should be dry by seven or so; SO I may have him done today...or not. Since I will be basing & painting him, I thought the W.I.P. section was more appropriate than the Sculpting.
  5. SO it started with a post on DM's Craft. My friend, tauster, was making The Mother of Monsters. He was using Marjory The Trash Heap of Fraggle Rock fame as his inspiration. I wasn't all that familiar with Marjory, although I loved what episodes of Fraggle Rock I got to see, but I HAD to do my own version of The Girl: I got further inspiration from our own alchemist's post: Magrat The All Seeing Trash Heap aka The Divine Miss Mags is a combination of the two inspiration pieces with a healthy dose of my own dubious imaginations. SO without further delay, here is Mags: The Door To Wherever: There you go. For those interested in size, Mags is a bit over 7" high & is resting on a base about 9" in diameter.
  6. The crunch of heavy feet, a terrified scream, & a hardy "Hi Neighbor!", it's the Mutatant Mushroom (I'd like to add from HELL! here, but he's just ambling out of The Spooky Woods). SO yet-another Mushroom to brighten your day & disturb your sleep; seen here with the source of the terrified screams strolling through the woods ...from a couple of different yet similar angles: ...watching from above: ...AND being watched right back: ..."if you go out in the Woods today"...I love theme music.
  7. SO, The Spook started to manifest himself on my work bench on the first of September...or there's about. He's the tall one off to the right. This is the plumber's epoxy head with bead eyes on the floral wire frame: The plumber's epoxy spreads & The Spook starts to form: Slowly he turns green: Next some associates, cronies, & such; a proper setting; AND then a base...although the order may vary as attention wanders. Being Old offers a stream of excuses for gadding about.
  8. This is an idea that has been festering in a particularly fertile & equally peculiar corner of my mind. AND now it comes forth as something REALLY SILLY; i.e., my latest kit-bashing creation. the Infamous Goblin Faerie: ...he will probably wind up hovering over some suitably annoyed Mushroom.
  9. SO I had these two twigs mounted & primed for ages...well awhile at any rate. Since I did up a Tree with Attitude for a Fellow D.M. Craft Forumite, I thought I'd give the twigs the treatment: Seen here on my Work Table, a once around The Trees: ...now to the closeups: ...the Hermit (Dark Hold Minion), all 10 mm of him: ...AND a couple of photos by the Witches' Shanty Town: The Twins will probably be used as foreground pieces in a Spooky Woodland photo background thingy I'm planning. Hopefully, you'll be seeing more of the Lads/Whatever.
  10. To those who haven't seen these in the Work In Progress Section: I will readily admit to a somewhat bizarre imagination aka NUTS. SO making Goblin Faeries seemed like a fine idea. Reaper does make these lovely fairy wings; I do have abundance of out of production, but oh-so-merry G.W. multi-part, plastic Night Goblin parts; AND way to much time to spend following my imagination to strange places. The individual photos are taken on my work table with some group pictures taken in The Witches' Shanty Town Board. The Fling Circus, one by one: Smiling Jack Himself: The Circus: ...The Mushroom insisted on his own photo...you know how these Mushrooms can be: ...the Group: ...AND The Faerie Folk: NOTE: There are some artsy in The Shanty Town Photos further down below Froggy's & X's kind replies.
