After finishing Mashaaf, I decided I was on a roll doing big minis, so here is my almost speed paint of Mudgullet from Bones 3 Kickstarter (Reaper Bones SKU 77581). Mudgullet was sculpted by Enos Kline. I started this Friday morning, and I finished it this morning on Memorial day.

The Froghemoth first appeared as part of an extraterrestrial biome in "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks" if memory serves, so a spacefuture setting is, if anything, returning it to its roots. Twisted, coiling, poisonous roots, in the fungal swamps of a jungle hellworld such as Retro-Venus! I went for an unwholesome, etiolated color scheme--which blends in pretty well with the rest of the terrain. More angles: This is a big miniature! Here it is towering over some tentacle-faced Cult Beasts from Midlam. They are about hound-sized in scale. The deep scars and tatters on the throat pouch indicate some sort of scarring from combat with others of its species, as rutting sea lions do. This is a beast too much even for the Beastmasters of the Venerian Amazons to handle alone! While we're at it, here's another view of the Cultist Beasts And a Venerian menagerie: I plan on getting Mudgullet and making a mate for this one at some point.

This is the biggest "miniature" I've ever painted. I would not have even looked at it if someone hadn't asked me to paint it. It was a great challenge and a great learning experience. I love his slightly goofy "intoxicated" facial expression.

I think this might be the last post of the year. From the Bones 3 kickstarter: An excellent stand-in for a Great Unclean One or Daemon Prince of Nurgle; a not-Froghemoth, that has now been renamed "77581 Mudgullet" and is slated for release by Reaper this January. Picture heavy! Click if you dare!

It isn't easy being green! Especially when you're green and not an Orc, or a Goblin, or a Troll, or a Gith, or a....wow, there's a lot of green monsters! The Froghemoth: I hadn't even noticed the clutch of eggs until I was inking the base! I'm happy with how they came out...reference photos had frog eggs in the entire rainbow of colors. The Jungle Titan. This guy was a lot of fun to paint. I'm not sure what I'll use him as...maybe just an overgrown Lizard King in D&D 5E. The Weregator. He'll likely be used as a Gatorman heavy for Lizardfolk runs. Last and least, Lizardfolk!
