  1. Showcasing more old-paintjobs from one of my former adventuring parties. This time we look at Willow the Eladrin Warlock, represented by Feiya, Iconic Witch. I enjoyed playing with colors with her, though in retrospect, I wish I had used some more magentas and purples. I believe the leaves on the base were painted oregano. Reverse side under the spoiler: Willow is an Eladrin of the Feywild. When her world started to freeze over, she was sent by her patron to cross over into the material world and discover the source of the cold. A stranger to Frostrun and an outsider to this World, Willow must rely on her new friends to help her save her own realm. Check out the rest of the Frostrun project HERE.
  2. The last of my player characters I painted up for Frostrun is Ophelia Pokitz, a young halfling with sticky fingers. They're represented here by Bailey Silverbell. Ophelia was a fun mini as well. Was my first time painting a humanoid with large facial features, which made it a lot easier to bring definition to the nose, lips, and eyes. I think I even hit the cheeks with a bit of blush. I also had fun trying to make their cloak look like it was made of fur. The result is acceptable, but might also just look snow covered. You can be the judge. I also enjoyed painting a rogue that was both colorful, but subdued. The dark greens and magentas add some much needed life to the otherwise dark mini, in my opinion. More Photos beneath the spoiler: Ophelia Pokitz is what you would call a troubled teen. Orphaned at a young age, Ophelia spent much of their childhood passing from orphanage to orphanage, always finding a way to get kicked out. They eventually left the system and struck out on their own, traveling to some of the larger cities in search of a better life. Over the years, Ophelia has learned to use their small size and tiny hands to "reposes" any valuables that aren't bolted down. This habit has put them on a wanted list in many towns across the countryside. Pushed further north, Ophelia has found themselves in the town of Harpy's Hearth. Ignorant of their southern reputation, and full of gold-carrying adventurers, this could be a great place for Ophelia to catch a break and line their own pockets. It could also be a great place to find a new family. If they can survive the darkness to come. Read their story and check out the rest of the Frostrun project HERE.
  3. Hi all. Another entry in my winter-themed minis. This guy was intended to serve as the BBEG in my Frostrun campaign. Kriger was the descendant of a greedy half-giant king who's line had been cursed to undeath. Kriger sought to lead an army of Draugr and vikings to reclaim his family throne. This "chaos warrior" model from Bones 4 was perfect. More Below the Spoiler: I really like how this guy turned out. He was one of those minis where I really pushed myself and tried some different things. I think it shows. Hopefully I'll get to continue his story, and return to my Frostrun game. Maybe by then I'll have found some suitable viking-esque warriors to accompany him. For more of my winter minis, check out my Frostrun Project HERE.
  4. Hi there. I've got a boney baddie for you all today. I was disappointed by the official mini offerings for a Skull Lord (a skeletal warrior with 3 heads), and it seemed like the perfect candidate for a bit of conversion. A few citadel skulls later and... For the observant viewer, you'll notice the Skeletal Champion's original head at the bottom of the bone pile. His skull was a bit too bulky compared to the citadel skulls and the sculpt didn't really leave enough room for three heads so I had to cut away some of the shoulder armor. All said, this was a pretty simple conversion and will make for a fun fight in the future. To see more of my winter-themed minis, check out my Frostrun Project HERE.
  5. A winter storm buried my part of the globe in snow last night so I'm filling a bit chilly. So today's the perfect day to show off these frigid little birds from Bones 4. More Below the Spoiler: These were a fun little set, though they took me longer to do than I anticipated. So much black and white really killed my motivation. Glad they're done and decently satisfied with the results. They make a nice addition to my winter collection. If you want to see more of my wintery minis, check out my ongoing Frostrun Project Here How's the weather where you live?
  6. Hello all. Today I wanted to show off my collection of cultists that I painted up a year ago. Like others on this site, I debated what colors to paint my cultists for awhile, but I ultimately settled on a blue-black and red scheme. I choose to highlight the black with blue just to add more color, though looking back I wish I had just gone with neutral black, or a different color entirely. But they still work. I also tried out my new dark elf skin triad on these fellas. Though they aren't necessarily meant to represent Drow in my games, I figured it made them mysterious and it wouldn't really matter if they were perfect representations. I wanted the cultists to be adaptable and reusable for any cult situation in my games. More Photos and Thoughts Below the Spoiler: What do you think? What's your favorite cultist color scheme? What nefarious purpose do they serve?
  7. Continuing with my showcase of old Player Characters for Frostrun, we have Nox, the Drow Bard, represented by Astrid, Female Bard. Nox was a fun challenge and one of the few times that I played around with color palettes online, and tried out some test drawings to really decide on colors and patterns ahead of time. Settled on black and dark grey for the main colors, with red for pattern accents, and purple for a dash of flavor. I feel it lands properly in the category of a dark entertainer without reading too much like a Harley Quinn knock-off. Though the player she was designed for loves Harley so I'm sure the similarities were appreciated. Reverse side under the spoiler: Nox is a Drow Bard and a newcomer to Frostrun. Nox left behind her home in the Underdark to seek out a life of adventure and fame as a traveling entertainer, but soon found herself on the wrong side of the law. With nowhere else to go, Nox has turned towards Frostrun, the edge of civilization. A place where people are judged not by their past, but by their ability to survive. Unfortunately, a dark force has threatened her one chance at redemption. Will Nox rewrite the tale and come out a legend? Or will darkness have its way and leave her as a footnote in someone else's song? Read her story and check out the rest of the Frostrun project HERE.
  8. Back again with another recent wintery addition to Frostrun. Here we have the caribou from EC3D's Wilds of Wintertide Kickstarter which has been beautifully printed from EscharloneGaming on Etsy. These caribou, or reindeer, are fantastic little models with just enough detail to make painting them a blast, but not so much texture as to make them a pain. These are the first 3D printed minis I have ever purchased or painted, except for a few Heroforge minis. I didn't know what to expect from the quality of design or delivery, but was very pleased with the results! I painted up two variations, one with a lighter coat and a white nose, and another with a darker coat and a black nose. I was absolutely thrilled with the result and they have made a wonderful addition to my campaign of Frostrun. More Photos below the spoiler: I have a handful of other minis from this line also printed by EscharloneGaming and I am looking forward to painting them up as well, when the inspiration finally seizes me. What are your favorite 3D models? Check out this WIP for the rest of my Frostrun project.
  9. Hi all. Still relatively new to the forums but I'm going to try to show off my work more often. I was working on an arctic campaign before the pandemic hit and had already started work on a lot of suitable minis. Not sure when or if that game will ever resume, but in the meantime I've got plenty of minis to paint! This time we have the Ice Troll. I'm satisfied with this. Especially proud of his ice chunk. I've never been very successful painting ice or crystals before. Hope you enjoy!
