  1. Reaper Challenge League 20223 1) Intro 2) How It Works 3) Types of Challenges 4) The Raffle PDF Check List Discord Intro: Welcome to the Reaper Challenge League (RCL), a system that rewards fans for completing community-based events and challenges. This will all be conducted via the Reaper Miniatures Discord, where there is a system in place to track points and administer raffles easily (see below). THIS IS NOT A CONTEST ----- This is meant to be a challenge against yourself to see what you can accomplish, not a contest to compete in against other people in the community. So enjoy your time in creating stuff and have fun doing it with everyone else! Only Reaper minis will be accepted except for in the Freebie/Bust categories. You can use any paints for submissions, the only exception is the Limited Palette challenge. How It Works: Users can submit photos of RCL projects on the #submissions area on Discord and receive points depending on the tier of challenge. These points can then in turn be used to purchase raffle tickets which will be drawn quarterly, with a large annual raffle at the end of the year. Only Reaper minis will be accepted for submissions, except for in the Freebie/Bust categories. You can use any paints for submissions, the only exception is the Limited Palette challenge. Each quarter, a RCL raffle shall be held during the last seven days. This ensures that people have ample time to enter tickets or finish any entries so your points may be exchanged into tickets. On the last day of the quarter, the raffle will be drawn, and winners posted. At the end of the year a larger raffle will occur that accounts all accrued points points you have earned yearly (spent and unspent). Terms and Conditions may change at the discretion of Reaper Miniatures at any time. Type of Challenges: All entries must show some sign of trying and not just throwing paint on to get some quick points. In keeping of the spirit of the league, challenge yourself and see what you and others are capable of. The amount of points that each one challenge will grant are in the () below, as well on the PDF for the 2021 chart. Reaper Challenge League PDF Reaper Challenge League 2023 Limited Palette January == `Green | Blue | Yellow` February == `Brown | Purple | Green` March == `Metallic | Blue | Yellow` April == `Red | Orange | Blue` May == `Brown | Yellow | Orange` June == `Metallic | Orange | Pink` July == `Blue | Yellow | Green` August == `Brown | Red | Green` September == `Purple | Blue | blue (Different)` October == `Green | Orange | Red` November == `Metallic | Pink | yellow` December == `Any Color | Any Color | Any Color` Reaper Challenge League 2023 Monthly Themes January == Freebie. - Good Start to the year! September == ReaperCon - spooky Ghost October == Out in the Rain! - Something wet or water based November == Fur and Scales! December == The Gift! - A gift for someone! I like this one for Decemeber. The Raffle: The raffle will happen the last 7 days of each quarter, This will ensure that people have ample time to enter their tickets or finish any entries they need to complete before drawings. Tickets will be pulled on the last day of each quarter! This will all be done on the Discord server, as we have a bot that is programmed to keep track of members points and how many tickets they have. We will use this bot to open the drawing and for you to enter and participate with the system. The drawing will stay open for one week before doing the drawing on the last day at a set time! Thank you, the team! Reaper Challenge League PDF Frequently asked questions Q: I am just wondering if one model can be turned in for two different categories? A: In the spirit of the challenge, we would like it if you submitted a different model for another challenge. As this isn't a contest and meant to get people hobbying. 🙂 so you would just be doing yourself a dissatisfaction!!!!! Q: Since the Reaper Discord moves so insanely fast, how will winners be notified? A:There will be a channel that is static that is read only, for raffle winner and other announcements. Q: Will the raffle draws be things that can survive through colder climates when shipped? A: Not to sure on the exact prizes but this ties into your third question, I can hold things for you if cold climate is an issue and ship it at an opportune time. Q: For the Quarterly holiday - what are you looking for for Q1? Like would just, any winter/snowy model be ok, or do I need to figure out what a MLK day themed model would be? 😜 A: The rules are very loose, as this is not a contest and is meant for you and others to hobby!!!!!! So if you think its a holiday or a special day? By all means paint something and present it under that challenge category, as long as you spent time and effort into making it, I will recognize it. As an example if you wanted to paint something that was for your birthday! i'll count that! RCL 2021 udated list! - Sheet1.pdf

  3. Ladies and Gentlemen! It's a big game tonight and Motty the Goblin is now live right from the stadium! I found this guy in the box during the last round of the Box of Goodwill. As then kindly pointed out by @alchemist, he is Motty the Goblin Commentator by Impact Miniatures. He is a parody/tribute to a well known British football (soccer) commentator John Motson. As I didn't know who John Motson was and what he looked like, I decided to look him up online. Yup, the decision for color palette was obvious then 🙂 On a separate and final note, this was my first time painting metal. Prep was a little different. But other than that, I would say it's pretty much the same as painting plastic. And here is John Motson IRL 🙂

  5. GETTING TO KNOW YOU SEPTEMBER 2022 Alright citizen take a seat in that comfy chair, don't mind those wristbands and that strange helmet you're going to wear....this won't hurt ( much). Now spill it! We have ways to make you talk... Basic Rules: ( Don't pretend you're going to follow these, we both know better than that, right?) 1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. 1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... 2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted. 2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.) 3. Questions are going to be posted between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours CET. ( Central European Time) ( I'm Dutch remember?). 4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me... 5. You do not have to answer every question to play... 6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI). 7. Weekend questions will usually take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
  6. Wiggles was a freebie with the Squealers core set, which are primed and ready to be painted. He was pretty easy to paint and a lot of fun.
  7. This is it World Wide Miniatures Day 2021 is here, @maxstyles ways. I'll post my progress here over the weekend. Feel free to join me and post your WIP . Just for the fun of it. I cleaned and prepared these models during the week to be ready today. It's gonna be an Ogre weekend. Ready, set, paint!
  8. Welcome to Getting to Know You, NOVEMBER 2020 Edition. The rules as they currently stand ( we all know most of you rebellious lot will ignore most of it, but one can try) 1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. 1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... 2. 9. So there's a thing called Inktober/Drawlloween that @Pingo reminded me about, where you draw/paint/sketch/art a thing every day during October. There's the "official" list of daily prompts... and this other one that Pingo found that I think is cooler. So who else is up for the challenge?
  10. The Three Color Challenge is the brain child of forumite (and CMPA member) skippen. The idea is to select a miniature, then select, or have someone else select, three colors with which to paint the figure. Black and White are added to allow for highlighting and shading and color mixing is allowed and encouraged. The idea is that by limiting the palette and maybe using colors that may fall outside of one's comfort range, something could be learned. If you wish to participate in this challenge, please do! If you're struggling with colors and lack friends who are willing to give you opinions, look in the spoiler tag below. When it comes to picking the colors, the idea behind the colors isn't to pick strange combinations or to make this intentionally difficult based on the color choices. You'll find it hard enough to operate without proper flesh tones or metallic paints. I found it a good suggestion because I had to stretch myself and use some paints in combinations I wouldn't have otherwise. Overall, the point is to have fun!
  11. Sooo...these look like fun. So Mouse is doing one! Yay! Now ask me stuff, please?
  12. *trudges into his own cave again and invites guests to come ask him questions of any kind* Welp, I've been kicked out of the Goblin Cave now have new digs, feel free to ask me whatever you like.
  13. Welcome back to our June installment of everyone's favorite Q&A thread. It would have been a T&A thread but this is a family friendly forum. Question the 1st of June: What is your favorite historical melee weapon?
  14. So, recently, I enjoyed visiting twitter (something I never really do and am honestly uncertain if "visiting" is even the right word to employ...showing my age, I know...) and looking at the pictures from the Cute Animal Tweet Off. It made my day! A bight a cheery bit of internet amid the dark an depressing wintery mix around it. I feel inspired to start our own miniature version of this! Let's have a game! Post pictures of cute miniatures we find all around the internet. They can be your own work, so someone else's, just make sure to credit the source! And have fun!!! Bring joy to others through the power of CUTE! Here's one I've always loved: Ali Bailey's version of the Easter Mousling. Soooooo cute!!!!
  15. For the last few days I've been painting with my wife's two oldest nieces (8 & 10 years old), they also painted a couple of figures up with me last Christmas when they visited and I figured it'd be fun to have a place on the forums where everyone can post up pictures of figures painted by their kids, grand-kids, friends' kids, nieces, nephews, etc. This is a show-off thread for everyone who would like to share the art that the kids put out with any figures and chit-chat about it so don't be shy! I'll start off with a couple of pics that I took last year and tonight when I get home I'll snap some more of the other finished figs they've done. First off are the two figures last year that my wife's oldest niece painted up with me that I had saved on my G+ album and just downloaded to add to this post. Let the show-offs begin! Edit: Added better pics of the wizard.
  16. I was wondering if there was any traction on the COG team in development? Haven't really heard anything since the update a while back asking folks to send in their email if they were interested.
  17. So here it is, THE WIP THREAD for the Group/Open Challenge of 54mm+ scaled figures AND BIGGER (yes, that includes busts)! Please feel free to add your own WIP pics in this thread. Give credit to the manufacturer and sculptor, but please remember to not have any commerce links in here just like the rest of the forum. This thread isn't for "Chatter" the chatter thread is over here -------> 54mm+ Challenge Discussion Thread If you have C&C and advice to give or wish to receive, that's what this thread is for. I ask for the MODS to help keep this as chatter free as possible so that the actual WIP stuff is seen in here. FAQ's in Spoiler ETA: If you already have a WIP thread and rather keep using that, please feel free to do as Dave did below and link to it, or do both!
  18. So I went to the CT Renaissance Faire today, saw some things there that I thought I would share with the forum folks, some of whom I have read go to Faires themselves. Share some pics all you Travellers!* First Myself and a pretty lady that asked for a picture: I was alone, so I asked her SO to use my camera to take a pic, as I have no current pics of myself in garb.. Some things I saw that will make the wolves drool.... I asked about the mail, it was a commissioned work. A young lady wearing a T-Shirt that I really laughed when I saw it! Talk about someone that needs to be on these forums! Where was she a few weeks ago, clean up would have been so easy! I think she was surprised someone in Garb wanted to take her picture... An awesome couple of Fey: (I kept wanting to say "I am Groot!", when ever I saw them....) A chance met Traveller that paints Minis! Told him about the Forums, maybe he will lurk, look, and Join! Loved the scale mail... So that's all Folks! (Yeah, I didn't take my camera out to much.... ) Had a great time! Sorry I missed you Mad Jack! 8) George * Travellers was a term used at the NY Ren Faire years ago to denote people in costume, that attended regularly, but did not work at the Faire. As opposed to the "'Danes" short for MunDANEs.... Other pics

  25. The most esteemed Space Pope, Bryanzilla I proposed a game in his question thread. His most serene and stylishly be-hatted countenance has blessed the creation of four(ish) houses for the Reaper Forums to compete each season for the highly coveted Sophie Cup! This thread is for people to propose house names and house colors for the forums. I will arrange a poll to select 3-5 final choices once we have a bunch of suggestions. Please post your suggestions below! Things to consider: What house name to do you suggest? What are the house colors? How should houses gain or lose points? Quoth the Space Pope:
