    The Knight of the Storm

Presenting the Knight of the Storm. After encountering the legendary Knight of Skulls, he was inspired to abandon his original knightly order, who had become little more than the attack dogs of the corrupt Galactic Nobles, and set out on his own. Eventually he banded together with other, like-minded, knights to form The Brotherhood of Bones, a beacon of hope in an otherwise cold and uncaring universe. Yep, it's another Space Marine, this time it's one of the heroes from the Deathwatch: Overkill boxset. Didn't want to use the official Deathwatch colour scheme (a very boring mostly black with a silver left arm), so I'm making it up as I go again. As always, any comments or criticisms are greatly appreciated.

    Abaddon, who despoils things

Here's a rendition of the old version of the Despoiler. With Forge World's newer rendition of him (in their Horus Heresy line) it is easy to overlook the older one. For one thing, he's smaller than you would expect from a character in terminator armor- but he fit right in back when he was first introduced... about twenty years ago. For the record, credit for the base belongs to my client. Anyway, here he is:

    The Knight of Skulls

Presenting the Knight of Skulls. Despite his fearsome appearance, he is a true champion of justice who travels the galaxy protecting the vulnerable colonists of the outlying worlds from marauding Space Pirates and other terrors. He is actually a Dark Angel Interrogator-Chaplain Space Marine from Games Workshop, but I didn't want to get bogged down into matching official colour schemes and such so he is now The Knight of Skulls. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Big Red aka Necromunda Ganger?

One of my gaming group gave me this to paint ages ago and I forgot about it. Found it as I am packing things to move. As I haven't had time to paint much as I try to balance my time between working and packing/moving between homes three hours from each other. Decided on this long weekend in Australia to do a little speed paint. Isn't perfect. But am pretty happy for a couple of hours work.

    Golden Demon (Reaper Fire Demon)

Hey again guys. After the fun I had painting my original fire demon, I just had to do another. It was only after I had finished I realised the irony of what I had painted. It's not GW, but it is still a Golden Demon! :)
  6. This is my second submission today I have been prettying this one up for some time and feel it is ready now I am really pleased with this one!

    Games Workshop Chaos Lord

There was a mini painting contest/showcase at my local Games Workshop store for the 30th anniversary, so I decided to finally get around to painting one of my models for it! This guy is the first space marine I've painted :D
  8. Some Games Workshop skaven, which I use for wererats :) I sort of went for a polluted/radioactive look for the base...

    Haemonculus

Here's a piece that I painted up for a Dark Eldar force that I've been adding to over the years. My client had the idea of having him missing most of his skin. I'm definitely keen on adding gruesome details like that to minis. So, here he is:
  10. Over the past 6 months I've been enjoying Kings of War so much that I've started to put together multi-based units for it. I have parts of lots of different armies in various states, but the main one I've concentrated on has been Undead. Though many of my minis are still based singly for versatility, I wanted to drop my all multi-based undead into a single thread. First up was a Mantic Balefire Catapult. I really should rebase to avoid arc of sight arguments, but I like the fact that the crew can sit on the same base as the machine and it has no in game effect one way or the other. Next, I took advantage of KoW's loose rules about number of minis in a base to field a troop of skeleton archers (normally 10 minis) with just 7 minis (helps field bigger armies faster). Looks like two Reaper Bones skellies made it in. I like my Undead to have a somewhat varied look across units, as I imagine that the troops are often pulled from a mixture of armies, so unit cohesion isn't always a concern. Next up is a troop of zombies. A troop of zombies isn't actually a thing in KoW, the smallest unit available is a regiment. The reason I made a troop is for versatility later, as I intend to not only have regiments (20, 5x4) and hordes (40, 10x4), but also Legions (60, 6x10), so I'll need smaller bases to match with my regiment bases to make into legions (two regiment bases and two troops to a Legion). Big Fred in the back is a Bones II mini. I had a hard time getting good pics of my ghouls, probably should've changed out the backdrop. These were one of the first groups that got a lot of airbrush love, using two blue variations for some base-coat directional lighting quickly (Zenithal airbrushing I think is the technique)? It sped things up quite a bit, and I'd try variations on the technique again for sure. A Reaper Bones Ghast makes an appearance, as well as a bat swarm to help fill some space. What Undead rabble would be complete without a metric butt-ton of skeletons? These guys double as skeletons or revenants. I like the base a lot, and though I wish it was more versatile (it counts as a horde of 40), I definitely intend to make more bases this size soon of various units. Older Reaper metals are in there, as well as a big bad from Bones II (the Skeletor-looking guy). Mummies were a more recent addition to my army, I like them and they definitely performed better than I thought, so I might be making another base of these soon. Mostly Bones I guys here, but a few Mantic as well. This next unit was fun, but I wish I had planned the base a bit better, putting at least a second flight stand in, but by the time I did the first the back rank was already filled in, and I didn't want a flight stand in front. Oh well, that just means I have to make another base of these guys! An older Reaper metal anchors the Wraith team in the rear. Thanks for looking!
  11. Continuing my dump of recent photos related to Kings of War, here's stuff that didn't really go into yesterdays thread (undead multi-bases). Let's start with some undead that aren't multibased. I used the B2 Barrow Wardens as Wights: A bit plain, but they are getting the job done until the new official larger models come out. No good KoW Undead army is complete without a Cursed Pharoah with Wings of Honeymaze, so here's mine: As for non-Undead, I occasionally paint some orcs as my usual opponents don't paint, and I like to have forces with paint on them opposing me sometimes: Dead elf laying near the leader: I'm now working in Ratkin jobs occasionally, too. I intend to run them as a second army. The Skaven were my first love in WHFBv4. Vermintide: Multibasing regiments of 2 large infantry is weird. So I included some filler for my Brutes: "Death Engine". Pretty happy with this compared to the memory of my original one, which turned out very grey and dusty looking: And, apparently a "must-take" unit for Ratkin players, the Daemonspawn/Verminlord. Again, this turned out a lot better than the slightly orange one I remember having painted 20 some odd years ago: Thanks for looking!
  12. Six archers of a Lost Army, from a Lost Kingdom, from a Lost World — six unwavering ghosts, standing defiantly in wedge formation: Reliqua Bretonnia In Memoriam
  13. Hello everyone! If you haven't noticed, I kind of dropped off the face of the forum at the end of last Summer for a number of reasons! Life has a strange way of throwing more things at you than you can juggle at once, but luckily, everything's finally slowing down enough to where I can paint minis, and spend wayyyy too much time posting my meager struggles for all of you awesome Reaperites to witness. First, a few things: 1. An Apology - I'm apologizing to everyone for not getting a previous exchange done until now. I believe it was the Fall Exchange, in which I was supposed to send Marsya an exchange. Again, life snowballed and I was unable to complete the project in any sort of reasonable amount of time. However, I am happy to report that the project is complete, and should ship out tomorrow! Marsya, again, I am so very sorry it took so long to get it out to you. Hopefully I was able to knock enough brush rust off and send you something worth of the delay! I have pics so once it arrives, I'll add them to my Miscellany of Miniatures... 2. I've missed you guys! I've been lurking on and off the board over the past few months (not posting) and I love seeing how much progress everyone has made (and by comparison, how I've made no progress! LOL!) It's good to be back! SO, to that end, here's one of the latest projects. A friend of mine plays 40K... A lot... I've never played 40K and really don't know too much about it, but I figured, what they hey! So I'm going to attempt to learn how to play 40K and decided to choose the Space Wolves as my starting army. I'm not going to post all the fancy-dancy pics until I finish the "Start Collecting Space Wolves!!!" box in its entirety, but I'll probably post WIPs and ask questions here as I really have no idea what I'm trying to attempt with 40k stuff. I have the new rulebooks and the Space Wolves Codex, so there's that. I looked at GW stuff when I first started painting, but haven't looked at it since due to price,. However, I figured one set couldn't kill me. I MUST say, however, that I much prefer METAL to that finecast or whatever it's called. Anyway, here's the first two that I managed to finish, along with an experimental base. They aren't completely done in this pic as they still needed their decals on the shoulder pads and the guy on the right needs some touch-up to the rune on his helmet... which is waiting for the paint for that layer as I work on SW #3. Left-hand guy is Captain Claws. Right-hand guy doesn't have a name. #3 will be known as "Punchy." The base is the standard round base that comes with them, coated in crackle medium (or whatever it's called. I'm too lazy to get up and check) and painted with my "Earth" mixture and shaded with various liqitex inks to get that crazy green look. The snow is a combination of Secret Weapon snow effects and Army Painter, um, "snow." Or something like that... Here's a close-up of a completed Capt. Claws, sans fancy background: Anyway, please comment, critique and ask questions! I don't think I'm going to be a very good table top 40K painter as I fuss over these things too much. I think it took me a week to just get these two done so... yeah. Enjoy! -K P.S.: It looks like I took a few WIP pics of these two. If anyone's interested, I can post those and comment as well.

    Solitaire

Here is another Harlequin Solitaire that I got to have a go at. The challenge was to do him up in black and white, but it was all about the subtle differences in the black- some of it has a little more red and some a little more blue to it, and I actually went through quite a few other colors as I highlighted it up. Hopefully, some of those things show up in the pictures:

    Lord-Relictor

Presenting the Lord-Relictor, part of my Stormcast force from Games Workshops Age of Sigmar starter set, he's the "good guy" (he's wearing far too many bits of other peoples skeletons for me to actually consider him a good guy) counterpart of my previously shown-off Blood Secretor. Had a lot of fun painting him, apart from his ribbon-cape, hopefully no one can see any of the parts of it I left unpainted (just too hard to get into all the nooks and crannies). As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    GW Fenrisian Wolf Pack

I know I disappeared ages ago and all, but I'm kind of back =] I've still been painting, winter just got me into a bit of a funk about it (I don't have a proper setup, I paint on my couch, so sadly I can't set up a daylight lamp), but now that the days are lengthening again, I'm starting to get back into it. So I've ended up owning two lots of Fenrisian Wolves - the first pack, I started painting as elemental sparkle wolves, haha, but I've stalled a bit with them, so I grabbed a second pack and painted them up a bit more normally... So here they are. My apologies, my mini photography is a bit rusty now. My Frostgrave Illusionist's Warband

Last week, I posted photos to "Show Off" of the Anhurian Spearman that I had recently completed painting for use with the game Frostgrave (http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/67363-yet-another-anhurian-spearman-77359-bones/ ); and forumite Pippin put in a request for me to please post photos of one of my completed Warbands for Frostgrave. I had been playing the game so far with a mix of figures specifically painted up for Frostgrave with snow bases, and existing figures in my collection that were on regular grassed bases. I had been busily painting figures for Frostgrave, but had been working on several warbands in parallel, and hadn't actually completed a full one. Since our group had started its Frostgrave campaign last month, I had been making a concentrated effort to finish my main Illusionist warband that I am using for the campaign, and completed the final figure this past weekend. I sat down today and took some shots of the complete group. (Note: Before the sharp-eyed Forstgrave players on the forum cry foul at there being 11 figures, after the first campaign game my group settled in an old inn, allowing them to add an extra figure to the warband) "What strange magic is this?", said the wizard Kodak, as the man set up the odd optical device before the group. "It is a machine for the making of a permanent image," said the man. "Like a painting, but with more realism and much quicker." "I'd like to see such magic!" said the curious Illusionist. Left to right: My Illusionist, Kodak (Reaper); his apprentice, Cherowyn (Reaper); the templar, Sister Elessa (Reaper); The treasure hunter, Jack (Reaper); archer, Edel (Reaper); and archer, Weiss (Reaper) Left to Right: The thief, Cadwalleter (Games Workshop); the thief, Agamemnon, (Games Workshop &; Wargames Factory); the thief, Linnese (Games Workshop); the thug, Bash (Games Workshop &; Wargames Factory) and the thug, Doc. (Games Workshop &; Wargames Factory)

    The Cyborg

Presenting the Cyborg, a soldier re-engineered to fight in battlefields that would be lethal to a normal man. Really, he's a paint scheme test for my small band of Skitarii Rangers from Warhammer 40k. Came out pretty good too, even if I did utterly fail to paint him up as grim and gritty as I wanted (apparently that's just not how I paint). As always, any comments and criticisms are warmly received.

    my 12 hour army

a friend wanted to play warhammer 40k this weekend and wanted to try his luck against my tyranid army. as luck would have it I havent painted that one yet. so I decided to see what i could do in a week. these are the results. total actual paint time is 12 hours 35 min over the course of 6 days. They started assembled but completely unpainted. They are by no means my best effort but given the time limitations I think they came out pretty well. I am also beginning to play with my new camera i got for my birthday. Let me know what you think!

    The Blood Secrator

Presenting the Blood Secrator from Games Workshops Age of Sigmar box set. I'm not sure what a Blood Secrator does, but it involves wearing a vest made of skulls and hitting people with a nifty-looking (but undoubtedly highly impractical) quadruple headed axe. Had this guy on 'The Shelf of Shame' for awhile, it's a very nice mini (very 3 dimensional if that makes any sense) but when you have shaky hands the prospect of painting all the bits tucked behind all the other bits is pretty nerve-wrecking! Despite that I think he ended up looking pretty good. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Empire Captain

Presenting an Empire Captain by Games Workshop, his WIP thread can be found here. Always liked the Empire faction with their fancy striped pants, and this guy was no exception. Had fun painting him too, except his cape (Grr... Capes! *Shakes fist angrily*). Came with a really tiny base, so I just gave him a basic grass one. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Gutrot Spume

Presenting Gutrot Spume, a Chaos Champion slowly mutating into some sort of tentacled thing. He's also my first finished mini of the year, and his WIP can be found here. Just had a massive amount of fun painting him up, and I think I did a fairly good job too. Any comments and criticisms are, as always, warming received.

    Kroxigor (big lizardmen) unit

These are 3 Warhammer Fantasy Lizardman Kroxigors (big lizardmen) that I painted up just because I liked the models. The blueish one is the champion and his sorta triceratops skull helmet is sculpted from Milliput with plastic horns. I'm still really happy with these guys except for that skull, it feels like it doesn't have enough detail to me now.

    A Christmas Carol Diorama

Finally finished this. The OSL isn't quite as stark in person and the shadows are darker; that's an artifact of the flash from the camera.

    Chaos Lord

One last guy I finally got pictures of. Chaos Lord from Games Workshop.
