So @Cyradis and I were discussing painting opals on Facebook, and thought we'd ask anyone if they had ever attempted it, or had thoughts on how to capture that inner-fire look. Anyone?

Hopefully the first of many, this was an experiment in color - in this case, green. And while his wide stance was a problem at first, I made it work. Karahl Farstep: Hood and cloak are both a mix of Brilliant Green and Linen White, 3:1 for the darker areas and 1:2 everywhere else. The cloak is shadowed with purple (thanks, @Cyradis!), and I think it came out pretty nicely in front. Had to redo the back due to becoming shadow happy. For the light greens I was hoping to achieve something close to mint green, but it came out a lot more washed out and boring than hoped. So I freehanded borders around those parts with some Palomino Gold. Not daring enough to do anything fancier than that yet, but I think it makes a positive difference. Comments and critiques welcome, I’d like to know what works or doesn’t, and what to try and do better next time.

Last week, before I left for the Cold Wars miniatures gaming convention in Lancaster, PA (Hopefully some photos from that on the House Tabletop thread later today!), I put the finishing touches on Malek Necromancer from the Bones I Kickstarter Necromancers set. I'm now half way through this set, with two done, and two to go. After he was painted (for tabletop use), and sprayed with Dullcote, I superglued a green nail-art gem to the circle at the top of his staff. I think this detail turned out pretty nifty. As always, C & C welcome.

So this is going to be COLORFUL It's based on a dragon character of mine. Here's a poem about him: So needless to say, you could also call him a rainbow dragon probably. Going to do my best to make him look gem like. Any tips would be appreciated!

I actually have two copies of this mini. I converted the metal one to be holding a giant wrench. One of these days I'll finish her painjob and share her too. Bones Cassie needed to be used as an NPC so she got the complete tabletop treatment. Personally I am very happy with her blue lipstick; my wife thought it didn't suit her.
