  1. I know, I know, 2020 is scary enough, but here are some spooky miniatures. First up, Fritz! 03709 Scooby-dooby-doo, where are you? 03920 I like how the blue edging came out on this one. 77098 To be continued...
  2. For the last few months since Reapercon, I've been focusing on pumping out minis to avoid the rut I got into last year. When I saw that Reaper had released the ghost sailors as metal figures, well... I knew what one of my October projects was going to be. I loved these guys as part of the Bones IV kickstarter, but I've not enjoyed painting plastic minis as much since getting back into metals at the Reapercon melt table, so I was psyched to order them and put in an order that night... Most of the rest I had from Reapercon, although I think I picked up Labella there too. Either way, these guys painted up gorgeous and easy using my go-to one-two spirit technique! As a firm believer in spooky blue ghosts, I started by priming them white, then giving them a couple layers of Irrisen Blue from the new Pathfinder paintset... My old blue standby was from the HD line and the bottle has faded to the point of illegibility, but it was almost identical. Then once it's dry, I drybrush heavily with Linen White (pure white comes out looking starched, and bluer whites don't show on the blue, but linen is perfect) and... call it a day. Decorate the bases, maybe some pizza... 's good. That said, minis painted using this technique meet my #1 requirement for ghost minis: They're distinctive on the table! I debated doing some OSL, but decided that it would wash the bases out, unfortunately. I like it better this way, with the bases nice and grounded, and the ghosts spooky and glowing! Lots of fun base details on these, too - 10/10 recommend picking them up if you have any sort of use for them! Miniatures involved (not enough tags for them all): 03965: Ghost Pirate Cook, 03966: Ghost Pirate Quartermaster, 03967: Ghost Pirate Captain, 03968: Ghost Pirate Bosun, 03969: Drowned Nymph Ghost: Banshee, 03718: Ghost Bride, 03475: Labella DeMornay, Banshee, 03170: Lurien, Ghost, 14168: Gauren, Necropolis Hero, 03799: Female Wraith 03965: Ghost Pirate Cook 03966: Ghost Pirate Quartermaster 03967: Ghost Pirate Captain 03968: Ghost Pirate Bosun 03969: Drowned Nymph Ghost: Banshee 03718: Ghost Bride 03475: Labella DeMornay, Banshee 03170: Lurien, Ghost 14168: Gauren, Necropolis Hero 03799: Female Wraith Of all of these, if I had to pick favorites... Hm... Ghost Bride and Gauren. They took the drybrushing perfectly and are super-fun figures!
  3. The Nighthaunts the Nightvault... ok, enough with the bad puns already. I used these to experiment with some color schemes I wanted to try out for my Nighthaunt army that is patiently awaiting to be brought to life. Pic heavy. click to see
  4. This is the miniatures from the Ghost of Midlam Manor Kickstarter. I decided I wanted to speed paint something and these ghosts fit the bill, so that is how this became the first Kickstarter completely painted at my house. The whole gang: The dark ghosties. The rusty parts was painted with an ancient paint, Adikolor Rust, from at least 25 years ago. I am kinda amazed its still viable. The sheet ghost. I think this one is hilariously funny. The gents. The Ladies.
  5. Continuing with my undead army for lions rampant I pulled the following models out of my two graveyard sets from the bones 3 Kickstarter. These will be an ideal unit of wights or ghosts for my army. I kept the paint scheme simple and these are the results. Happy with a good start to the year in terms of painting, although doing an identical scheme could be considered cheating. models have have now been sealed and ready for some static grass. As always comments welcome.
  6. I may have finished Orctober early this year, but that leaves plenty of time for other Halloween themed minis this year! All spookiness comes from the Bones 3 Kickstarter...actually, I think it's all from the same Crypt Expansion, except for one of the spirits. The full haunting: The Obsidian Crypt: The Graveyard Golem: The Spirits from Beyond: The true evil of the group, the Pumpkin Minions:
  7. Six archers of a Lost Army, from a Lost Kingdom, from a Lost World — six unwavering ghosts, standing defiantly in wedge formation: Reliqua Bretonnia In Memoriam
  8. This is what I'll be using as a casket of souls in my warhammer undead army. Finally it will be a part of a greater diorama, so it has a place to rest in the shelf. This was a lot of fun to paint. Miniatures used: Crypt of the vampiress; 02990 Ghostly Summons; 77095 (Bones) Victim, from Altar of Evil + Victim; 02580 (Unable to locate just the victim when I tried to find it again) Altar of Evil; 77139 (Bones) Base from Warhammer graveyard set Skull beads (eBay) Q-Tips :P Nudity1 Nudity2 Nudity3 Close-up of altar: Added closeup of vampire:
  9. I think this is okay under current rules, didn't want to do a thread per mini. Here's Pandoras crew all primed and based on some cork:- Next I basecoated their skin, since they're all ghosts (I think) and I needed 1 colour to tie them all together, I used Vampiric Shadow on all of them:- And then I basecoated the smoky, twisty lower halves of the Poltergeist and the Woes with a 3:1 mix of Vallejo Hexed Lichen/Nightmare Black:- I also meant to paint the strand of smoke from Pandoras Box of Mystery the same colour, but I forgot.
  10. Finished a few more reaper bones that I forgot to post silly me! We are using the chainsaw chick above and the barbarian below in our Warhammer quest games with much hapiness. And of course the bones were a perfect source of ghosts for that very same game. Hope my FLGS will be able to stock bones again soon. On the other hand I can't blame reaper if they want to take a little well deserved vacation :P
