This was my entry for the quarterly contest. I decided to paint him as though he was in a cave with maybe some luminescent crystals or mushrooms. I love the sculpt and will probably eventually get another to paint "normally". Or maybe not since I have hundreds of other minis to paint!

Greetings! I've been working on this scary Reaper DHL Lich for a week or so. There is a rich blue glowy effect on his eyes but it doesn't seem to have come out that clearly on these pics. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Hello! Presenting Diabolus, The Devil Dragon. I wanted this dragon to look as though it had a fiery core, I did this by starting with the lightest yellow as a base & then building up the fire colours so that the deepest parts of the dragon remained (visually) the hottest. I suppose it's the opposite of the usual way of doing things...... It was a little frustrating & counterintuitive as I couldn't really use any shading or washes. I think it turned out ok though. The WIP for this mini can be found at http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78084-here-be-dragons-or-theoldguard-tries-to-make-a-sizable-dent-in-his-painted-bones-3-collection/ Thanks for looking, feel free to comment.

The Little People January Bones Beauty Pageant inspired me to try to paint some of my halflings and gnomes. This one, 77167: Ingrid, Female Gnome, is now done. I tried to do some OSL to make it look like the stone was really glowing, including between her fingers. I painted the base with lights and shadows. I didn't add anything to her except paint.

This guy was nerve wracking. I struggled a lot with the foliage, which I am still not happy with, but I finally got it somewhere I felt OK, and then I decided I wanted a glow effect from all the cracks in his wood, giving the feel of an animating energy. Applying that to a mini I struggled to get to completion was hard to do. I don't think I achieved my goal perfectly, but he looks pretty good aligned up against a bunch of hapless adventurers.
