  1. I'm a noob (about 5-6 weeks of painting) but am happy with this guy and his rusty armor! Would love some C & C from anyone though!
  2. This is the very first fig that I ever bought, 8 or 9 years ago. It was for my first D&D session with some close friends, and I fell in love with the game on the spot. This character has gone through a lot: demonic armor possession, lost both of his eyes, had a hole punched through his chest, died 3 times, came back as a zombie, body taken over by a lich, and currently resurrected in the body of a half-ogre. I have a new fig for the character and his new body, but this one will always have a special place in my heart. I finally got around to painting him over the weekend. His eyes are
  3. I am still not happy with the skin tones I have come up with for my basic Zombicide zombies... Most have been too green. So I wanted to try something more of a pale skin to grey color.. And believe it or not I am out of Bones zombies and that's to experiment on. So I found Goldar who is my proxie zombie. What do you guys think? I am actually happy with this one for two reasons: I painted him I about two hours total and I think this skin tone will work for my standard Zombicide zombies. It is VMC 2 parts basic skin tone to 1 part sky grey. Then a light wash of Army Painter dark tone Ink.
  4. I've been painting on this guy whenever I had leftover paint for the last year or so; it seemed like time to finish him up. C&C are welcome, but tips on what to do about his hair would be especially welcome.
  5. As mentioned in the "How did you come across Reaper Miniatures" topic, I just started painting two months ago. Don't feel like you have to go easy on critiques though. First prime, First paint, First wash Goldar (03461), painted grey to be a Goliath. First Boil and Chill (To remove lean), First eyes Dain Deepaxe (77074) First "OMG This is taking too long", First Dry Brush Bone Devil (77325) First Sculpt (cut off wings and used green stuff) Mummy Lich (77147) First highlights, first wet blend, first missing piece! Fire Demon (77315) Shameless copy of Fire Demo
  6. It's been a few days since I last posted new work, and now I have three miniatures to show off. First up is my take on Sir Conlan.. I kind of wanted to make him look as if he could be a hero or a villain, to have some ambiguity in the paint scheme regarding his possible allegiance, I also attempted to make his sword's blade look as if it is made of an amethyst crystal. Next up is my take on Malek, the necromancer. My initial idea was to try and make him look as if he could be heroic, but it did not necessarily work for that, he still looks evil to me, but a LOT brighter tha
  7. Hey all! It's been a bit since I've been able to paint up anything. I started back to school and between that, the requisite homework accompanying it, and working (as well as trying to make time to see people and sleep somewhere in there) my painting has fallen by the wayside. I've had a little more freetime that I didn't spend doing other things here lately though, and one of the beneficiaries of that was Goldar here. I (like I'm sure others) envisioned him as a D&D goliath. I considered trying to freehand some tattoos on him, but I was too scared to try it and just left him as-is
  8. Here are the latest PC models chosen by my players, painted quickly to get them ready for the game. They are all escaped slaves in the Underdark. I don't recall what names they gave them, just the class. 77047 Goldar - Fighter 77149 Damien - Sorceror 89014 Seltyiel - Druid 77061 Kord - Barbarian 77040 Satheras - Warlock
  9. This is Reaper Bones figure Goldar, Male Barbarian, which I painted for fun.
  10. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62318-my-first-mini-unfinished-please-critique-and-suggest/ I tried to post at the end of my first thread, but discovered that I couldn't include an attachment. Can't imagine why, but the 'Attach Files' option at the bottom is missing, and it would do no good to post a request for critiques without displaying the product, so sorry about the dual threads. In short, I wasn't happy with my first attempt as the initial thread says. I made a lot of mistakes and ended up stripping it and making a second attempt from scratch. I primed it wi
  11. For the March painting challenge as I am working slowly through my exchange mini I decided to do some constructs and try my hand at some craft. So I have the Brass Bull, Stone Golem, Battleguard Golem, Goldar and a DMGinfo Bookcase.
  12. I took a bunch of random Bones to Reapercon to work on over the weekend. They were washed, and then I used brush on primer at the con. Figured I would get some tabletop quality work done while I was socializing. Well, if you were there and trying to paint you know that the humidity was bad and paint *was not* drying, so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. For example, the wash I used on Duke Gerard took about 45 minutes to dry. On top of that I had crackling on a couple figures. :( I brought them home, stuck them on washers, and plan to finish them up this week. First
  13. Here are five Bones I painted up to represent the PC's in my Pathfinder game (we're playing the Kingmaker campaign). With these I basically tried to shoot for the best tabletop standard I could muster; I did want them to look good as they are the protagonists of a game we might be playing for some time. However, I also wanted to get them done before the campaign was over (I'm slow), and I knew that my players would soon be handling them at the gaming table with their coffee-stained, pizza-greased little paws (hi guys!). First up is Oviara the Cleric (of Iomedae, Goddess of honor, justice,
  14. Here he is last night, base coated and washed. Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0001.jpg And finished and based, with some Testors Dullcote: Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0005.jpg Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0006.jpg If I was to critique myself, I would say that it's time to try a bit more blending on my next one, with an intermediate highlight, and maybe some small extreme hightlights. My highlights were too light, so I had to go back with a flesh wash and blue wash to bring them down a bit. I will also remember to paint the eyes early. I am getting the hang of
  15. After the vacation from hell, and my grandmother's passing, I'm finally getting back to work. Goldar is presented here as a Half-Orc, for our Pathfinder game. As always, thoughts, opinions, and thrown pottery welcome. Reaper Bones - Goldar, Barbarian LA Pandora Cavaliers - Grim Reaper LA Alarion APM - Locust
  16. My brother in law made a pathfinder character which looks like savage dragon, and of course there are no savage dragon minis. So he requested one of me. Goldar ended up being a great mini for him, just added a fin (which I've been getting practice at), switched out his axe for a spear, and added a naga head to his belt. Whatever species the character is worships nagas, and his guy is evil, so he killed one and carries it around as a trophy. Unfortunately the camera washed out the colour on him. The green is much brighter, and has more highlights, and the naga head is a bit grayer. Caus
