Hey everyone! It's been forever since my last Show Off, I finally got around to upgrading my painting space with a nice lamp so I actually have decent lighting now. This is a fig for my Goliath character in a D&D game. There is a pretty bad mold line that I didn't notice until after painting, but at that point it was too late to scrape off. Overall I'm pretty happy with him and am looking forward to posting again! Comments and advice are always welcome! Thanks!

So I painted this one for a friend to use as his goliath fighter in our dnd campaign. It was a quick and easy paint, since he asked me to keep it simple. I like how it turned out considering the printing quallity Also, the blade of his original sword broke of, so I replaced it with a warhammer empire greatsword blade

This is Cool Mini Or Not's Goliath from the Dark-Age Shadow Caste

This is the barbarian from the first Star Hat Miniatures KS. I painted him up as a Goliath, so I made the mini's hair part of the cloak. Not sure what caused the little white dots in editing.

So when this model came out I had to have it, as, I suspect, did every other ork player as well. It just screams WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHcoughcoughOrk. Anyways, been working on it for about a week? I think. Sadly it is now finished and I have to find a new project :( :( Sadness.

I've been hitting a slump in my painting that's been keeping me from these forums for quite a while. I'm trying to regain my rythm and getting some pieces done. This is one of them: Gorak the Ravanger from the Warlords Miniature Lines. He was supposed to be a stand in for my current monk character in a DnD5 game, although I'm having second thoughts. Still love the miniature though. Seems quite angry :)

Hey all! It's been a bit since I've been able to paint up anything. I started back to school and between that, the requisite homework accompanying it, and working (as well as trying to make time to see people and sleep somewhere in there) my painting has fallen by the wayside. I've had a little more freetime that I didn't spend doing other things here lately though, and one of the beneficiaries of that was Goldar here. I (like I'm sure others) envisioned him as a D&D goliath. I considered trying to freehand some tattoos on him, but I was too scared to try it and just left him as-is. Maybe one day I'll make an attempt. Sorry for the less-than-stellar photos here. Did them with my phone under a kitchen light (not the light I paint by -- but close).

There's no major theme between this set, other than that they'd make one strange adventuring party. First off we have the LATEST version of Ajaxxus Skiotho, Tiefling Barbarian. I think he's been re-done more times than I've actually played him:

I love this figure and had a lot of enjoyment painting him up and working on his base. Spent about 12 hours on him total I'd guess. Puts him at high tabletop+ for me, nearing my low display quality. Been working on a few things today, the only one I can show since I'm doing my Summer Exchange at the same time is this guy who represents my D&D Group's Goliath Barbarian "Drhogath". Figure: Loratham, The Lost and Then Found Manufacturer: Enigma Miniatures Series: Massive Darkness SKU: ENM3029 Sculptor: Raúl García Latorre Size: 38mm to the eyes, 40mm to the top of the head Material: Metal Here you can see I had already put him together as his weapon is attached at the wrists (I pinned and superglued them followed by liquid green stuff). His leg is also super glued on and has liquid green stuff to add more stability and fix any gaps. I also added a little set of 3 skulls that I had on hand, I think they are from Reaper. The base is built up out of cork board and then I added Red Oxide Paste (Vallejo) to give it more texture. I primed with SC75 black primer and then lightly dry-brush reaper brush-on primer to bring out details. I'm going with the color scheme that the player wants here, he wants stock goliath from D&D which means I went back over his skin with blue liner and then went to work on skin tones using various grays, whites, and blues to obtain the look I wanted. These included: Reaper MSP HD Dragon Blue, Rich Indigo, Concrete Grey, Blue Flame, and Solid White and SC75 Eclipse Gray. Added eyes and hair colored to an off-white and then hit with some Solid White Reaper HD to do some highlighting. I used some SC75 Sahara Yellow for the skulls/bones, added in some Reaper MSP Graveyard Bone, some shadows with Reaper Brown Ink. I just kept going back and forth mixing these in different amounts until I got the color of bones that I wanted. Anyhow, this is where he stands right now, including the base build, I've spent probably 2-3 hours on him so far. Kind of hard to gauge when doing it in conjunction with other projects. C&C are welcome, encouraged, and appreciated!

Hey look, it's another Non-Bones II Show off! :) I just got mine last night - it is a thing to behold but I split it with a friend so I'm waiting until he and I can get together before I open the individual boxes. Besides, it isn't as if I have plenty of things to paint in the meantime. So there is a story behind this miniature. I am playing a Goliath Monk in a D&D 3.5 campaign named "Gauthi Swiftfoot." I initially painted up Uglunuk to be my character's avatar - he has the right look but is outfitted all wrong with steel armor and a big axe. Still, I decided to paint him up in a standard fashion as I didn't think my customization skills were up to changing him that much. Last year I decided I was up for the challenge - I made some extensive modifications to the mini that I outlined in a work in progress post. To summarize, I converted the Ugulunuk's axe to Gauthi's kama and gave him a flaming fist (my character has a feat that lets him do that,) for his other hand. Then I solicited assistence for basing him. Here is the result, a goliath monk upon the plane of ice, ready to attack: Questions, comments, and criticisms welcome! The funny bit on the kama was where the paint came off after sealing him. I'll blend it a bit.

So I've been working on this guy for about two months now - I've bought a house and moved in there so that's why it has been taking so long. I tried doing a WIP on this fellow, but I lost so many of the "in progess" pictures there just wasn't any point. I'm going to set the circumstance before sharing the pictures. I'm playing a Goliath Monk in a 3.5 D&D game. I originally painted Uglunuk for my character - he's a poor match since he's clearly a fighter or barbarian, but he made a good substitute and I didn't feel like my customization skills were good enough. I did buy another one of the fig to customize at a later date. That later date came about last year. I did some pretty heavy customization - my Monk is armed with a kama (a 1 hand sickle, basically,) and has the "flaming fist" feat, so that led to what to do with the hands. I filed down some of the more conspicous armor, and customized the belt to look more like an ivory artifact belt my character wears. Here is the result: The first picture is before some touch-ups I did to the skin, but it shows off the kama nicer than the rest, so I decided to keep it. Anyway, this leads me to my question: I'm going to base him on a slotted circular base I got from Wyrd, it has a recessed area about 1" in diameter that you need to fill. How do you think I should base him? I'm not looking to do anything hugely complicated, but I'd be interested to see what people think. In particular, what sort of base do you think would provide a nice contrast or highlight to the colors of the figure? Right now we're doing a bunch of extra-planar elemental adventures, but I think more fire would be distracting. So I'd be interested in people's opinions. Also, I haven't seal-coated him yet, so if anyone has any comments please share... P.S. The pictures are friggin' huge, so feel free to click on them and see all the tiny flaws!
