  1. I am getting back to work on building a game with the original Minifigs 1974 “Mythical Earth” (unlicensed Tolkien) figures, which were what I started my collection with...because there wasn’t anything else. These guys stand 16mm tall to the top of their hairy heads, and were sculpted before the green stuff technique was developed. So there wasn’t much of a face to work with. You young people are so lucky; we had to chew miniatures out of lead with our teeth. (Grumpy old man rant ....) These guys came three to a strip for about 25 cents, as I recall. These represent one strip plus a
  2. These are some minis I picked up in the discount bin of Leisure Hours Hobbies in the mid 90s. The sculpts I think are from 93. They've been hanging around on my paint stand for awhile, so I figured it time to finish them. These are also possibly the smallest minis I've painted yet. Discussing the proper way of preparing fish... I tried to give Sting on the left, a slight glowing effect. I see Gollum's base could use a bit of touching up...arg. And a guest appearance from the gnome from a Reaper Learn to Paint Kit, to demonstrate scale
  3. So I found this box in the basement. I know my dad gave me this chess set, maybe as long as 20 years ago. Does anyone here recognize it and perhaps know the manufacturer? The pieces are made of a very light weight resin and they look hand carved. There are no mold lines that I can see, which would mean a one piece mold which makes no sense.
  4. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/halfling-wizards-and-apprentices Look pretty good. The top pledge includes some halflings from their back catalogue. They seem to be making good progress on the ongoing project and the international shipping remains quite cheap.
  5. The last of my recently finished works, a batch of mostly Halflings from Stonehaven's latest Kickstarter. Unfortunately, same with my recently completed Lizardguys, these had a case of fuzzy primer. I had taken several steps to fix it, but the further I got along the more obvious it became. Thankfully, the pictures seem to magnify the situation, and the roughness isn't quite as obvious in person. However, the rest of the batch is soaking in the strip for now. First, we have the titan of the group, the Old Growth Treant: A Berserker, Boar, and combination of both:
  6. I've had these figures for about 20 years now. They're an old relic from before when I stopped painting some 18 years ago. The figures are supposed to represent some of the Hobbits and Gollum from Lord of the Rings, but I can't remember which. The only one I'm sure of is Gollum. The others I think are Frodo, Pippin and Sam. Frodo (?) Pippin (?) Sam (?) Gollum Group shot!
