I have gone through my "hoard of unpainted things" and painted all of my wolf and wolf-like critters. This one is the Death Dog from Bones 3. I am really glad I did the Kickstarter because I ended up with so many minis I have enjoyed painting that I probably would not have purchased otherwise. This is one of them. Not that there is anything wrong with him, I think I would have gone for a regular wolf or werewolf before going for a two-headed wolf. However, he is going to have fun chomping adventurers! So in addition to the warg and winter wolf that I already painted, I did this one, a werewolf, and the dread wolves that came with the cemetery set. All of them are the Bones versions.

I purchased the Shadow Hound in Kentucky and was painting bits of it while in the hotel. The initial plan for the mini was to paint half of it and leave the other half translucent. Now that I have a base coat and some colors on it, I'm not too sure. Perhaps if it was clear translucent instead of purple it could work? Please let me know your thoughts.

I bought this wonderful bust of a Boxer Dog a while ago, I immediately knew I would paint it up as my Boxer Brutus. So here we go.

So in my last Reaper order I ordered some big shiny stuff for other people, but for myself, I ordered a few translucent Bones, as I've had my eye on them for a long elf time. As I have the translucent dragon from Bones 3 eventually making its way to me, I decided to get some practice in too. So there was a thread around at one point about using Tamiya Clears on the translucent Bones minis, so I launched into painting mine with a similar approach =] I also got fed up with my SLR and its hatred of shooting indoors, so woke up its inbuilt flash and cobbled together the world's most slapdash flash diffuser, and was ultimately kinda pleased with the results. Annoyingly, a lot of photos are underexposed because they look fine on my camera, but the screen on that is weirdly bright and everything tends to be dark as all hell when moved onto my laptop. It is possible my laptop screen is funky, so I do apologise if the following image is now hugely overbright *facepalm* He's painted with Red and Shadow Tamiya clears, and then drybrushed very lightly with Citadel's Genestealer Purple, Khorne Red, and Evil Sunz Scarlet. His eyes are Evil Sunz =] I'm actually really quite proud of how he's come out.

I painted up the Bones 2 Mountain Troll, and also recently did speed paints of two Mega MIniatures dog miniatures since one of the players in my D&D game seems to like using Summon Nature's Ally spells to summon dogs to help, and I wanted to have a couple of them painted for our next game.

These are from the Thunderbolt Mountain set #8046, Wood Elf Huntsman w/ Dogs. The set includes two dogs, but you can buy extras. The hunstman (not painted yet) comes with three weensy accessories to choose from: a bow, a sword, and a beautiful curling hunting horn. The site claims these are 30mm, but if so they are the tiniest 30mm figures I have ever seen, small even next to the smaller Reaper elves. These hounds are big, real Irish wolfhounds, compared to the Thunderbolt Mountain figures and reasonable dog-sized compared to Reaper figures. Be that as it may, they are sculpted by the legendary Tom Meier and are just gorgeous. I painted them up as part of Inarah's Memorial Day Paint Binge Challenge. The white one is in the memory of a beloved childhood pet.

I used some of the suggestions on these forums to paint these. I first sprayed a clear matte sealer on (so the ink and paint will stick to the mini) then doused it in purple ink, then dry-brushed with 2 shades of pink (darker one and a lighter one) and then I hit them with a small amount of white. Still retains some of the translucent purple effect. Good for a Ghostbusters game.

Thought I would take this beasty in a non-traditional direction, so here is the ghost hound. I have a metal one and another bones one that I will likely paint up in a fire scheme.

I painted this guy as a Christmas present for my mom. He was inspired by the first dog my parents had while I was growing up - a beagle named Tungsten. A couple of random goals I had were to use the airbrush that I got for a Christmas present last year, and to try something new (the freehand on the edge of the cloak). I kind of waited a bit too long to start on this miniature, so there are some definite shortcuts I took, but I'm still very happy with him.

Guy of Gisborne here is going to be my Christmas present for my mom, so I'm trying to knuckle down and get him done this weekend. I'm taking a short break to post the progress so far. There are a couple inspirations for this miniatures - the first dog we had growing up was a beagle named Tungsten; and my mom has a "dog" bathroom (it's decorated with dogs, it's not for dogs). The cloak is finished except for a few stray brushstrokes I need to clean up. The fur and armor are "basecoated" - they will need additional details. I expect the tabard to give me trouble, and to look at Jess Rich's studio paint job for tips. Depending on how quickly I finish the rest of him, I might try some simple freehand on the cloak - and by simple I mean something like a line near the bottom. Any suggestions or critiques are welcome.

I am new to all of this. Reaper site, painting, basing....but it is a lot of fun so far. :) It is something I wanted to do since I was a kid, but never really understood how. I was petrified of ever starting again. I remember when I had gobbed model paint all over the grenadier figures my Pop got me. This seems to be a step up from those days. Also, I don't plan on doing eyes, I probably could, but I honestly don't care for the look of them on minis. Just a personal preference. I hope you enjoy my work as I have enjoyed everybody elses on here. :)
