It was a very busy summer (and into the fall), so I didn't get a lot of painting done. But here are the Bones Black Hell Hounds (#44100). Or the Hell's Frozen Over Hounds as I've painted them. Here is the Reaper Dungeon Dweller Unicorn (#07047). He was a test run of Turbo Dork's Mother Lode paint. It has a mother of pearl sheen in person, but it is very hard to capture in a picture. And the Bones Classic Silverhorn Unicorn, #77029. He was an experiment with Reaper Black Pearl paint. And finally, Ian the Ivy Crown Mage. Warlord #14544.

Running out of "fun" groups of mini's to paint in Batman, these are pretty generic angry dogs. I'm not a big fan of the pose.

He is from the Thunderbolt Mountain set #8046, Wood Elf Huntsman w/ Dogs. Like all Thunderbolt Mountain figures they are sculpted by Tom Meier, the legendary talent behind Ral Partha. The set includes two dogs; I painted four of them up here. The wood elf huntsman comes with empty hands and a bow, a sword, and a beautiful curling hunting horn. This is the first time I have glued things into hands and it took a lot of fiddling. The site claims these are 30mm but I don't think they are even 28mm. They are very delicate compared to Reaper elves and their faces (and eyes!) are impossibly tiny, albeit beautiful. I painted him quite dark because I've done enough pale elves for the moment. For now he is primed with white and washed with Burnt Umber. I nearly finished his base because I painted it at the same time as the hounds. His face includes complex blends of Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Red Oxide, and Titanium White. His eyes and brows are pure Carbon Black.

These are from the Thunderbolt Mountain set #8046, Wood Elf Huntsman w/ Dogs. The set includes two dogs, but you can buy extras. The hunstman (not painted yet) comes with three weensy accessories to choose from: a bow, a sword, and a beautiful curling hunting horn. The site claims these are 30mm, but if so they are the tiniest 30mm figures I have ever seen, small even next to the smaller Reaper elves. These hounds are big, real Irish wolfhounds, compared to the Thunderbolt Mountain figures and reasonable dog-sized compared to Reaper figures. Be that as it may, they are sculpted by the legendary Tom Meier and are just gorgeous. I painted them up as part of Inarah's Memorial Day Paint Binge Challenge. The white one is in the memory of a beloved childhood pet.
