  1. Hi guys, So I just finished this figure this weekend. This is a Hackmaster Female Gnome Illusionist from a line that was created for the Hackmaster Role Playing Game, but was recently acquired by Iron Wind Metals/Ral Partha. It's a pretty nice little series of figures with an old school vibe and some interesting creatures. This is the only one I really have at the moment and decided to paint her up. I painted a version of this figure a long time ago, but not too too long ago got a hold of another copy. So here's the most recent version: and here is my original
  2. Last week, I posted photos to "Show Off" of the Anhurian Spearman that I had recently completed painting for use with the game Frostgrave (http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/67363-yet-another-anhurian-spearman-77359-bones/ ); and forumite Pippin put in a request for me to please post photos of one of my completed Warbands for Frostgrave. I had been playing the game so far with a mix of figures specifically painted up for Frostgrave with snow bases, and existing figures in my collection that were on regular grassed bases. I had been busily painting figures for Frostgrave, but h
  3. I recently started playing a game of 2nd Edition D&D with some friends (not my normal gaming group). As it's my first time playing 2nd Ed. in 15 years, I thought I'd go with something easy. Then I realized no one else wanted to play a mage. So instead I'm playing a Gnome Illusionist. What a great excuse to paint another Gnome!! (and quickly, with his AC of 8 and 5 HP he may not last long). So I present Flizbit von Klaus, Illusionist Extrordinaire! I'd planned to grab a background and take some nicer shots, but forgot and now he's quite shiny with wet sealer (we play tomorrow)
  4. I’m working on finishing the rest of my Otherworld dungeon adventurers before the last part of the Indiegogo campaign and next in line was the Male Human Illusionist. There’s parts of him I’m pleased with and some I’m not. I could have worked more on the “skirt†and the face didn’t come together. On the other hand the figure has lots of small nicknacks that came out quite nicely.
  5. Yes, another Gnome. Who doesn't need more Gnomes?? This guy I'm using for my character in 2nd Ed. campaign I'll be playing with some friends. Should be an interesting contrast with the 5th Ed. campaign I'm running with a different group of friends. It will also be my wife's first time playing D&D at all (she's playing a paladin, and will be painting up 77063: Duke Gerard btw). Here's a quick pic of him straight out of the packaging. I've since cleaned him up and given him a good scrub.
  6. This little guy have been sitting on my shelf basecoated and begging to be finished for about a year now. Since I’m focusing more on my metal miniatures this year, and focusing on getting them done, I picked this up and applied the finishing touches. At first I wasn’t happy at all. The whole paintjob just looked dirty. And not the good kind of “in a dungeon for a while†dirty, but just plain “sloppy paintjob†dirty. I didn’t manage to take it all the way but at the end I’m pretty satisfied with the result.
  7. I finally finished up my second Stonehaven gnome wizard. A fellow gamer had seen photos of mine and asked me to paint one up for his Forest Gnome Illusionist. I had alot of fun with this project and I quite like how he turned out. I really enjoyed bringing someone else's character to life and this little guy is such fun to paint. Thank you to all my forum members who helped me along the way in my WIP I appreciate all the suggestions and comments, they really help. Here is Dixie complete with a squirrel companion. I used Reaper's squirrel from Familiar Pack IV. Oh and I tried both a
  8. I just started my Stonehaven Gnome Wizard and was hoping for color advice. I didn't plan out my colors in advance for this one as he was intended to be a quick paint up for an upcoming character for D&D. And now I am a bit stuck for the colors of his shoes, and they are quite the shoes for this little guy. I sat and stared at his shoes for about 30 mins mind you while I should've been actually putting paint on him. I was thinking a dark brown, but I am not sure. What do you guys think? Oh and since we are on color advice what opinions does everyone have on his flame and crystals?
  9. The adventure continues. First up, the only Reaper mini I've stumbled across in the several lots I've bought on Ebay, a Guardian Wraith by Bob Ridolfi: I recently saw dispensed some advice about highlighting black with turquoise. So I tried that, here--a very light turquoise. I liked the looks of it, so I also used that for the detailing on the shield, hoping to get a glowing look. And then there's Lanah the Lost, Barbarian Princess, from Ral Partha's Fantasy Adventurers line: My first bikini-babe warrior-chick. Love love love this sculpt, even if it is a litt
  10. Rounding up the recent work. More old Grenadier minis (I super-promise I will work on something Reaper soon, very soon). First, a wraith: I was really trying to up the ante with this guy. I base-coated in black and tried highlighting up with three different shades of blue. Really wanted to capture the floating-along movement of the pose. Next an illusionist: I really liked how she turned out. The dress reads bluer than it is in the pictures, but I was very happy with the highlights all around. And two skeletons: I got all stupid-excited ab
