Malak breathed the cold air and smiled. This day had been long coming. The journey to the Frozen City had been difficult, wizards of his like had difficulty procuring supplies in the so called civilized lands, even in the rough towns near Felstad. Still, goblins could adapt to any situation and this one was no different. The eclectic band he had managed to scrape together stood with him now on the outskirts of the ancient ruin, ready to stake their claim at the riches that lie within. His first in command was his apprentice Grubb a Weiben goblin from the Reaping lands to the south. After him was Murdo an infantrygoblin of the Heartstabber tribe of Impact Crater in the Oldhammer Mountains, and a likely candidate for leadership over the rest should it be required. Polg and Mog were Manorheim goblins from just north of the Reaping lands and reasonably useful with a bow and axe, respectively. Gik and Moosh were from a nearby Bighead tribe. While both were foolish creatures, Gik was good with his bow and Moosh was quick with his feet and his dagger. They were also good with animals. Fearful and mistrusting of dogs they had brought with them giant rat creature they had tamed and named Squeaker. His final member was a brute of a goblin named Malg from the Thunderbolt Mountains. Louts and fool’s the lot of them, but competence cost gold, and that was coming soon. Besides if they die, at least he'll be able to buy better help on the next excursion. Unfortunately, Murdo had been less competent than hoped, dying shortly after impaling the "mouse wizard" on his spear. The Manorhiem goblins suggested calling in a trap expert from their village by the name of Grinner. Hopefully this one will prove more useful.

Today I got a gift from @Kangaroorex aside from chocolates and a Ral Partha Asian Dragon and Ki'rinn, this awesome painted Dragon was in it! I don't know what brand he is, but he looks great with those lightning wings! He's now in my display cabinet, reminding me about the wonderful people on this forum! Thanks Kangaroorex!

About this project STRETCH GOAL #1 - UNLOCKED - A true 3 sided D3 (the Apple D3) was added as a free die to many sets and one you can purchase individually in all colors as well. STRETCH GOAL #0 - Until the project funds (or 1st 24 hours) - Any backer who backs the project for $20 or more will receive 5% bonus dollars (rounded down) for selecting product from the dice menu. These bonus dollars will be calculated based on your final amount pledged to the project and will show up in the pledge manage after the project ends. Miniatures is seeking to add to their dice of unusual size with mass production of the final 4 dice we need to complete two different dice chains (a D17, D19, D26 & D28 sided die in 9 opaque and 2 speciality colors). These 4 dice will allow Impact! to offer D20 dice chain sets with all the dice from D3 to D20 and D30 dice chain sets with all the even dice from D4 to D30 to RPG developers and players. Impact! has a lot of experience producing odd sided dice and the designs for these dice look great and have been tested to be as fair as possible despite having an odd number of sides. Due to assistance from Andrew at the Dice Shop Online (thank you very much Andrew!) and Joseph Goodman from Goodman Games (thank you Mr. Goodman!), we have been able to research the shapes and receive a small batch of the D17, D19, D26 & D28 to test the production designs. We are very happy with the test batch and want to get the dice into full production but really need your assistance to get the mass production run of the dice created. DICE CHAINS (What are they? Why are they great?) I have helped several game companies design rules for games. When I was introduced to Dice Chain Mechanics for RPGs by Dungeon Crawl Classics and Freeblades I realized they created just a smoother set of rules for RPGs. With a standard RPG as your character progresses he/she receives +1 or more to their dice rolls but then you need special rules that a roll of a natural 1 still fails in the rules. With Dice Chain mechanics as you character progresses the next dice in the chain is used. So at level 2 your Barbarian rolls a D11 instead of a D10 when using an axe. No need for special rules for failure as a 1 is still possible when they roll. The problem was that no one made all the dice needed for a full dice chain for a D20 system or for a D30 system. Four years ago, I started a quest to offer those two chains. This KickStarter gives us the final 4 dice we need to complete those two dice chain sets. New D24s and D30s All sets in this KickStarter will contain my new D24 and D30 dice. These two dice were redesigned to make them roll better based on customer feedback. COLORS Below are the colors that you can choose from for all of the dice sets in the project. 9 opaque colors and 2 specialty colors. DICE MENU Below is a menu that you can use the amount you pledge plus any bonus dollars your reward level offers to pick your own custom reward. When the pledge manager is released after the project is over, each backer will be able to select the dice sets, dice and colors that you want from the below menu. I went to reference one of these minis in another thread and I found I never posted them up here. Looks like I stopped taking photos of my speed painted minis. Usually I do try to take a picture of them before I do touch ups. But these are so old I have no idea if I did touch ups on them before I took the photos or not. However, I leave them here for your enjoyment. Each was painted at GEN CON in 45 minutes, with a communal brush and a limited selection of Reaper paints, and whatever light conditions where at the time. (Bright sunlight is usually the worst actually) *(Note, I think the painter cat is Impact... but it's been so long, I can't remember anymore!)

My secret Sophie recipient was Corporea! Since she is someone who's work I admire and find both excellent and entertaining, i wanted to do something that was fun and a little weird. I had a couple of priests remaining from a previous diorama and the crypt sarcophagus fell in my lap while I was contemplating ideas and an idea was born. I also have been playing with incorporating lights into my miniatures (my christmas village is a dwarven forge village with mini LED lights strung throughout it.) but what to have rising out of the crypt. Then it hit me, the best shock a priest who thinks he's raising a dark spirit could get is cuteness. and so i added a ninja pony from Impact to the mix. With that here are the pictures of the piece that I sent to live in Corporea's house: And here is the piece with the lighting on. it actually flickers through 5 colors doing a slow pulse then a fast pulse. Finally got some photos of my speed paints at Gen Con. As some of my fellow con goers already posted a few great speed paints you may know the rules. 45 minutes, limited paint and two brushes that are used and abused at the Con. Although this year and last you also get a brush from games and gears that you may use at each speed paint, but somehow I either lose it or leave it at the hotel and never remember to bring it back. Anyway here are my two which also will count for the RPChallenge. My Dark Sword speed paint Mab - Queen of the Fairies And a quick poorly lit photo of all the lovely ladies. And Impact's Chibi Gargoyle Each will stay as they are and be placed on my shelf with previous speed paints. Both surprisingly scored 2nd place but no final round for me as I was leaving too early on Sunday to attend. During both speed paints everyone painted quite well and produced some pretty minis in just 45 mins.

Another pony for Christmas presents. All sorts of extras and pieces parts across the miniature. I loved some of the colors I played with and what started as a support for a lost crossbow became a wrist communicator with the help of a new metallic paint I wanted to try. He just wasn't happy with the idyllic and pastoral world of his birth. He is off hunting monsters in the modern world. C&C welcome. Hope you enjoy

This is the other mini I entered in the Gencon painting contest. I was hoping to give his eyes a little bit of glow but I don't think I managed it. I was really running out of time with him. He did photograh well at least. He was much less of an elf than the minotaur.

Every year I go to my the local church art fair with my Wife to help her out with the booth. A couple of years ago I brought some minis along to keep from being bored. After that I was asked to please do that again. Apparently people like to watch me paint and watch the minis grow. However, even at a high end art fair people are not too keen on paying even the cost of the metal for a mini (go figure). This year, I bought a bunch of ponies from Impact so I would have something to sell to the kids who I am a sucker for. None of these made it back with me from the fair and 3 others got sold before i could get pictures. I have about an hour a piece in these and they were of course fun, especially when I could let the kids pick the tattoo on the rump. Sometimes the parents were actually more excited than the kids. Note these were painted in indoor lighting with no extra lights and only my trusty reader glasses for support. C&C is welcome. It mixes the familiar with the exotic; dwarves, elves, and humans mingle with the lizard-like t’skrang, the earth-skinned obsidimen, and the small, flighty windlings. This KickStarter will bring all of these varied races along with unique monsters for them to face to improve your experience playing the RPG. Since several of the races in Earthdawn are unique in fantasy RPGs, this project will be an opportunity to have miniatures cast that match better with your characters while playing Earthdawn. FASA has granted us permission to bring this line of miniatures into production to go with the Earthdawn RPG. Recently Impact! obtained the masters for the miniatures of ZN Games which held the masters for the Heartbreaker Hobby Earthdawn range so we can have new molds made for the miniatures from the original masters. The Miniatures The miniatures are provided unpainted in spincast resin. The miniatures might require light clean up and some assembly (although we did our best to keep the figures with as few pieces as possible). The miniatures are 28mm scale. Stretch Goals Starting at $4000 and then every $1000 after that we will unlock creating another production mold which will add another 1 to 3 miniatures for the Earthdawn RPG to add it/them to the point chart. There are 37 additional molds that we can create as part of this KickStarter beyond the starting set of figures. As we reach each funding or stretch goal, we will start a poll that will allow the backers to vote and decide which mold should unlock when the next goal is reached.

A friend who loves these is leaving for Denver Tuesday and his going away party is today, so I whipped this up to give him something special. I did not think the colors would work as well as the did. So I still have quite a bit to learn about contrast, learning is good. Hope you enjoy. Taking pictures of this one is tricky because of the hat....

So here's a pleasant little chibi elder god that I got painted up a little while ago. I decided to open his eyes a little (elder gods don't always have to sleep, right?)

Getting started a little late this month on my resolutionary challege figures due to illness and a vacation. So because of that I am going to try to do what I think will be be easier minis. First up is the Chibi Wizard from Impact miniatures. I was a little nervous about the paint sticking after hear some of the stories about the resin that Impact uses. I cleaned it with Dawn dish soap and thankfully I didn't run into any issues. I want to break out of my usual blue/grey/white color schemes that I tend to use for wizards so I am going with green robes. Still haven't decided on a good accent/cape color...maybe a yellow or white...meh. Colors used so far: Robe - 09015 - Jade Green Skin - 09091-09093 - Golden Skin triad Eyes - 09039 - Pure White, 61113 - Arthurian Blue, 09288 - LED Blue Any C&C is appreciated, especially accent color suggestions

Well after playing with a bunch of soaps and primers, I had a number of the new Impact ponies primed and ready to go. And since they are relatively fun to paint, once again my WoK minis got pushed back by another kickstarter (this is why they are supposed to come in at different months...) Anyway, to review for those who missed it in the kickstarter forum: In an effort to get a smooth coat of paint on these minis that will actually stay put, I have tried a number of detergents to remove the mold release and a number of primers to get one that will actually grab the resin and hang on. summarizing my work: washing the miniatures is required for anything to stick, and I have used Dawn dish soap with success. (our "natural" dish soap didn't have much luck getting the mold release off.) 1) paint on primers don't work. I have tried reaper and GW 2) Acrylic primers don't stick (I have tried Rustoleum and Krylon for plastic) 3) Krylon primer for metal and plastic works 4) Rustoleum self etching primer works I have not tried the paint and primer combo cans because I like the tooth on the pure primers. (you're on your own there ) The first 2 will pull away and bead up on the mini. You can force them to make a smooth coat by repeated applications but it will be like a skin on the miniature that you can literally peel off in sheets later. With all of that said, here is my first of the new Impact miniatures ponies kickstarter, and one of the cutest! Comments and Critique is always welcome.

Another day another chibi. I bought a number of these at Gencon and I have been working on them to make room for the Impact ponyfinder kickstarter. And hopefully figure out how to make the paint stick. This attempt was using dullcote as a coating to allow the paint to have something to grab on to. this failed miserably. Apparently even dullcote has a hard time sticking to the dark grey resin Impact uses. the dullcote peeled off in sheets. had to wash it again, scrub the dullcote off and lightly sand the areas that wouldn't let paint adhere. And then the paint cracked in some of those areas. All said and done for as many mishaps as this little beastie had, he came out pretty nice. hes a little dragon so he guards a little pile of coins courtesy of Basius C&C always welcome Next try is to scrub hard with dawn dish detergent and a toothbrush and see what happens.

This one was just too cute not to paint, although I certainly waited long enough. I picked him up in Gencon and he has been staring at me waiting for some paint. I like the eyes but after the photos I think I may need a little additional cleanup on them around the edges. One thing i will note with all the Impact minis: the resin they have likes to refuse paint, both normal and primer. It beads up with the least provocation. and this is after 2 scrubbings with dish soap and warm water followed by a warm and cool rinse. even when a good coat is achieved it is very fragile and can be easily chipped. If anyone has suggestions to getting paint or primer to bond better I would love to hear it. I don't have this problem with resin from Darksword, Reaper, or Stonehaven, and I don't see it on Bones unless I don't wash them first. Anyway, enjoy! So, alas I didn't have the funds to order any of the others, except Chibi Sophie who has not yet come, but with Halloween tomorrow I felt it best to post these tonight. Jack. Patch Esme. And standing with his minion it's The Great Pumpkin Impact miniatures 'Pumpkinheaded General' These guys where so much fun to paint, and I do regret not being able to get more, but funds where not in it for me. Maybe in the future they will show up again.
