Street Judge and a couple of members from the street gang box. These are cast in WGs new resin, and I'm not sure about it. Stuff is very flexible and the detail on the gangers is very shallow so you have use a light touch with the paint and it can be hard to figure out what you're painting. Turned out ok.

Been working on this guy for a while now and I'm going to call him done now since I have to ship him out. Old Halcyon vinyl kit of Judge Dredd. First one of these I've finished. Primered with Badger Stynylrez paints and all the flesh is Stynylrez. Green is all Reaper colors. Gold is Scale 75 shades and I'm not really a fan. Took about 4-5 coats to get smooth coverage. I really miss the old Polly S metallics! Nothing since has come close for coverage and grain. Base is Stynylrez grey, over sprayed with Polly S Concrete, cracks are all colored pencils. Gold for the base was Vallejo Metal Color Gold which airbrushed great (I'll have to try brushing it on at some point). Gold was washed with Liquitex Burnt Umber artists paints, which was also flicked on the base to create stains. Grunge and color variations on the base were created with various Secret Weapon pigments. I needed to push the highlights on the green up a bit, but my lighting here isn't doing me any favors either. I've had this kit for quite a while now, to build for a friend who's a big Judge Dredd fan. Due to circumstances I can't go into, he asked me if I could this one, along with Judge Anderson and possibly Judge Death put together and painted for him. Second vinyl figure I've worked on, and I thought some of you might find it interesting. First picture shows the components cut out and cleaned up. The second is the major subassemblies. One of the tricks with this kind of kit is to fill the lower portions with plaster to add rigidity, weight and strength to the piece. Without it, you run the risk of the vinyl buckling if it gets too hot after you've got the figure assembled. Yeah, DON'T leave these kits out in direct sunlight! and here he is with all the primary assembly complete and ready for paint:

The third of three Judges done today, it's Old Stoney Face himself, Judge Dredd! He's the Law, and you'd better believe it, creep! I'm pretty happy with how he went, came out more or less exactly how I planned. To think I originally backed the JD kickstarter just for this figure, and ended up pledging $150+! Worth it, though.

This figure was one I painted many years ago, and found in a box recently, beaten up and nasty. I'm sure that I'm far from the only person who as a teen decided that their metal Citadel Judge Dredd figures needed some more heavily-armoured backup and found that backup in the form of a plastic RTB01 Space Marine. After seeing the Mega-City One project going on over on Sho3box, I pulled it out and thought to myself that I should repaint it. Last weekend, Marouda selected it as a figure for me to finish off to clear the paint desk, and so I set to the task. Kind of a complete repaint, and kind of an overpaint. The eye lenses are original, as is the numeral on the power fist. Everything else used the original paint as the base coat, and added modern highlighting and shading. The exception is the gold work, which was originally painted a bright yellow, and was simply plain. I decided to go for metallics, and freehand a MC-1 Eagle of Justice onto the pad. Because I can. I also stuck him onto a 32mm base, because apparently I'm also doing that now. There's a second one of these guys as well. Unfortunately he's in the kind of shape that C-3PO was in about three quarters of the way through The Empire Strikes Back, so he'll require a bit more work in order to recover. One day I'll use him in Judge Dredd games, and also as an Imperial Adeptus Arbite in 40k/Rogue Trader/Deathwatch/etc. And in games like Frag!

Yesterday I found time to paint my first goblin from Goblinaid. I need to check later how I can make pictures smaller with paint or does anybody know how to make pictures only for viewing in the forum little smaller until someone click on it? I tried to make NMM Gold the first time, I used Vallejo Heavy Gold Brown and mixed white in it until I had only white. Judge Gob (The pictures are really big. To get an idea how it looks on a table, use CTRL and - to make it smaller and CTRL and + to make it big again)

Well, I painted this. I'm not really sure it's much to show off about, but at least it's done. This is definitely my least favourite of the Renegade Robot set, so it was kind of a chore to paint, and it shows. Ah, well. Onward and upward.

Mr Chimpy McChimperson is all done! I couldn't resist including a little cross-comic reference: Overall I'm pretty happy with this little ape, though I kind of forgot what I was doing and fluffed the jeans, and I think maybe the belly sticking out should have been covered in black hair. Not sure if the bloody bat is too much; I may be overdoing it with the gore lately because I have a recipe that I'm really happy with. Also, I need a better name for him than Chimpy McChimperson. Maybe... the Bear Chimp?

This fella's been WIP for far too long, so I got him finished up tonight. Basically, I decided I wanted several different colours on him but I didn't want it to look like an explosion at a clown college. So, I went with four colours, with each colour repeated on three panels (when in doubt with a colour scheme, I use the Rule of Three). I think it worked quite well, and with the servo droid I finished tonight as well it puts me over half way to completing the renegade robot gang - only another servo droid, a robodog and the combat droid to go!

The recent (and long awaited) arrival of my Judge Dredd rulebook has got me on another Mega-City One painting kick! Finished up a couple of renegade robots today, here's the servo droid. I couldn't resist adding some gore to the chainsaw after reading a nice and simple tutorial recently. I decided not to go for a full-on splatterfest, though, it would have been quite easy to go overboard. I really like this model for reasons I'm not entirely sure about. I think it's the strange combination of the droid's non-threatening design and the huge chainsaw it has for a hand.

Some decent shots of the Street Judges I painted on holiday. Painted as a group to fit with the ones that I've already done. This bumps me up over half way done with my Judges! Well, until Chief Judge Hershey arrives, when I'll slide back to exactly half.

This is one funky monkey. My first and natural instinct was to paint him with a standard black leather jacket, but I thought I'd give him a bit of a James Dean look with the red jacket and jeans. The rest really just fell together nicely. Big risk with this guy was the shades - I hummed and hahhed about doing black shades or mirror shades, but my better half convinced me that I should be trying to grow my skills and I went for it. I wouldn't say it came out exactly perfect, or that it was necessarily the right mini to do it on, but I'm happy with it.

This renegade robot dog was really fun to paint, and only took an hour or two. His name is CL1FF0RD and, as was pointed out in my WIP thread, he totally looks like a Voltron cat. I really feel like I might actually be improving in painting flat areas of colour!

A renegade robot servo droid with stump gun, all based and ready to go! Totally not a C-3PO ripoff. Not at all. Really glad I ended up going with normal layering instead of drybrushing with this one, totally paid off.

One of three Judges I got done today, here's Judge DeMarco: I think I managed to get the hair kind of right, not quite perfect but close enough. I considered trying to do some freckles, but even with the tips in the painting advice thread I'm not confident enough to try and pull it off.

One of three Judges done today, Judge Giant: Boy, it took a while to get the skin tone right on this one. I haven't painted a lot of African skin tones, which makes me feel a little bit racist. But I think I got there in the end, or at least somewhere in the right direction.

Last one done for the weekend! Yes, that is a banana in his pocket. He's probably still happy to see you, though. I'm happy with how all the colours turned out on him, but he's leaning slightly forward on his base so it's a bit tricky to get a good photo angle.

All done, not a lot to him but I think it looks pretty good. I think I need to work on highlighting flat surfaces a bit more. I never was that good at painting Space Marines.

Painted this lady up in just one night, pretty happy with the outcome. I'm particularly pleased with being able to pull off a decent-looking blonde for once. Have to say that the body suit didn't work as well as I would have liked, but I'm calling her done.
