  1. How do you best follow up a post featuring a Dwarven Slayer? With Trolls, of course! I've shown two of these trolls before, just two weeks past a year ago now, as it happens. Last week, while stuck for something to paint I asked Marouda to choose some models for me to finish and as a result, I finally got a third finished for them. Hill troll suffered a broken wrist many years ago, and with my meager skills of the day I "repaired" it by pinning and then wrapping wire around the join, as though it were bound with rope. Not the neatest of jobs, but it works passably, and I've no
  2. A couple of months ago I ordered a bunch of "Fir Bolg" Skeletons from Brigade Models, originally produced and still sold for the "Celtos" skirmish miniatures wargame. Roughly two weeks later, which translates to two months ago now, they arrived and I reviewed them. As I've said in the past, I've got a real soft spot for one-piece metal skeletons. There are some other lovely models out there, but many of them are very fragile - and I prefer more sturdy models for wargaming, especially with some of my Ham-Handed friends. Now, I've finished painting the first unit of them - or the first 12 ou
  3. It's 1:30 here in Maryland... Just watching Bill and ted marathon with my son... Trying to get at least one mini painted each week. So we have an Age of Sigmar guy. I really like the armor design as it reminds me of Mordred's armor from Excalibur. Anyway golden armor with green accents. I like how it came out so when my box arrives this will probably be my paint scheme. Next it a combination of a kings of war basalean paladin (the legs) a warhammer empire great sword torso and arms/sword. And an empire knight head. A made him for a friend in my pathfinder game. The last picture i
  4. Hi all, I've been looking to buy some movement trays for my Kings of War undead troops. I've heard of Litko, but not really keen on using them because I'm told without using the "roomy" option, the bases won't fit the tray (i.e. a 5x4 tray has the 5th figure overhanging without their roomy option). I also think, personally, that it is a bit steep to pay a dollar more per tray on the roomy option, for a mere extra 3mm to dimensions. But I digress... Has anyone ever used Sarissa Precision or Tectonic Craft Studios? Their trays would save practically 50% of the cost from Litko, but that's
  5. I had one of these guys already fully painted, but I was waiting until I had a unit to post in Show Off. What we have here is an Army Painter bone colour spray primer, blocked in colour for clothing, armour and weapons, a quickshade ink wash, a drybrush all over with Reaper Polished Bone, ink washes to bring the colours back up, reapplication of metallics and finally painting the eyes blue and basing. Pretty easy and fast, so I'm confident that I'll be able to crank a bunch of these out and have a couple of hordes in no time - once this spring weather decides to stay fine for more th
