  1. So here is my second Sir ForScale, representing House Tabletop... He will be going to Texas to meet the Great Kaiju soon... Thanks for looking!!!! George WiP here
  2. I said.... Posted Yesterday, 09:59 AM And of course, since Morihalda is going to paint up the House Procrastius Version, I decided that House Tabletop needs one as well.... (Glad I ordered 2 of them!) So here he is after the emblem was sculpted on the shield... Much easier than sculpting hands! Need to touch up the grey liner, then give him a coat of white primer tomorrow.... George
  3. So I started this for a player in our pathfinder campaign, he is the husband of the player that I painted some sensible shoes for.... and I have a list of the desired colors... Player wanted the sword instead of the wine skin... Eyes done with GW Scorched Brown, MSP Leather White, and SC75 Cantabric Blue, Skin tone is Arabic Shadow.... Thanks for looking! George
  4. So I have decided to try and paint a mini from all of the new (To me anyways) companies I have been discovering through Kickstarter or being (grumble) enabled... Since Her Darkness is almost done, I decided to assemble and prime up a Bombshell mini from the last Kickstarter, and since I am currently playing in the Pathfinder campaign 'Reign of Winter', the choice was pretty easy as to which one.... so Here she is! I am thinking light greys, teal, and blues.... Thoughts? I am thinking some sort of sea shore base.... George
  5. So my entry into the Sir Forscale Painting Competition started By my Housemaster, the Great Kaiju, Reaperbryan, is finished.... (well I need to spray the banner with Dullcote,...) I decided to use Reaper's colors of Red, Green, and Black, but the Black metal of his plate kind of disappeared under the high lights... It is a hair shy of 3" to the tip of his Pike, and it is 1" to the bottom of his pike hand... As the metal pike made him a bit front heavy, I expanded the front of his base with a 50% mix of Green Stuff and Apoxie Sculpt... Hope you all like him! George WiP here
  6. Finally finished up the base for this guy, so here they are together! Its amazing how things can jump to the front of my painting line without any conscious thought on my part, and when I really want or need to finish other stuff that I had been working on.... A big THANKS! to TGP for the base Idea and the sketches to show me the way! WiP Here George
  7. So Since Bryan decided to hold a contest, I decided to join in! I decided when I heard about this, and the stipulations of the contest, I knew that I was going to steal an Idea that I have seen here on the forums.... Someone had taken an older pikeman figure, and painted bands 1/4" apart on the pikeshaft, to use him For Scale! I saw this before I knew who / what Sir Forscale was / is, so the thought stuck with me. So I removed his sword, and added a pike from a Ral Partha Wood Elf Pikeman from back when.... Reaper Brush on Primer on the Pike, as it is metal, then everything was airbrushed with thinned Grey Liner... His Chainmail is Decayed Metal, going up to Brass, and he will be painted in Reaper's colors of Red, Green, and Black. The pike will be marked in some way to indicate specific measurements, and I plan to try a Banner to fly from it as well... I am a little worried about how to make sure he stands up, as the pike is a tad bit unbalancing... First cut pics.... Thanks for looking! George
  8. Another Mini from the $5 box at Sarge's Comics in New London, CT that I picked up on the way home from the last NEMPA paint day at the Citadel in Groton, CT. Just a base coat of 4 drops Caspian Blue with 2 drops Inktensity Black, and 1 drop of Inktensity Blue added... (Paint was still wet when I took the pics, nice and Scale Color flat now...) Thanks for looking! George
  9. So with my obsession with My Dark Lady, I have painted up the old Ral Partha Takhisis mini from the Dragonlance Villains box. But since I had previously painted up the DSM version as the human version of her avatar, I was at a loss as to what I should do when I fell into an old Ral Partha mini from Evilbay cheap... Well, She is a Deity, so why should Her Avatar be limited to human? And as my avatar is a Drow.... So I give you The Queen of Darkness as a Drow... Not as happy with her as I was with my DSM, but.... Thanks for looking! George (WiP)
  10. ***In another bout of insanity, I had started this mini as well....*** ***And it's about time too....*** ***Yes my Queen of Darkness....*** So while hunting the Bay of all Evil, I ran across the 'human' Avatar of Takhisis from the box set for a good price, and bought her. After she made her way here from Denmark, and got cleaned up and primed, she has been getting som paint here and there... Decay Black base coat for the skin, followed by MSP Dark elf triad...(incomplete) Eyes were White Sands and Aldebaran Red Bikini with Sunset Purple ***I mean I already painted her Awesomness' Human Avatar, (DSM Barbarian Queen), so I thought that MY people would be fitting for an Avatar of the Queen of Chaos....*** ***I will reserve my judgement until I see what you have done with my other mortal form.....*** ***Yes my Queen! I will do my finest work!*** ***You had Better!*** (Ma'al Drakkar....) ****AAAAAAhhhhh Dreamy.........**** Comments, critiques and distractions welcome! George
  11. So TGP gave me an awesome idea for how to do a base for the Grenadier Cave Fisher I am working on... (Gotta love talking to folks on the hangouts for stimulating ideas!) So I am wondering what do folks think the best way to go about making this a reality would be? My first thought is insulation foam as an armature to sculpt Green Stuff and/or Apoxie Sculpt onto.... I also have some Sculpy or Super Sculpy at home that I could use... (I would not use foam as an armature for this, as baking would tend to be bad....) I don't think foil would work as an armature, and I am pretty sure that mesh wouldn't work for the same reasons. (rigidity and weight) So anyone have thoughts or Ideas for me? Thanks! George
  12. So I added some black ballast sand and some Earth colored flock to add some variety to the base, and am calling him(?) done. Comments and critiques welcome! Thanks for looking! George Wip here
  13. So I finished up the base for this one, added them together and here it is! Ever get the feeling you are being watched...... Thanks to everyone that looked and commented over in the WiP Thread! George (Edited to correct Manufacturer....)
  14. So I picked this up from the $5 box at Sarge's Comics in New London, CT.... Just an exercise in GW metallics so far, starting with Tin Bitz, Brazen Brass, Dwarf Bronze, and Shining Gold, with MSP Leather White on the coals... Thanks for looking! George
  15. ***Since I wasn't doing anything else....**** from Wiki I started on these 2 last night during the hangout... Ral Partha: I am wondering if I shouldn't paint this one as a Xaren, as it is a little smaller.... Otherworld: This is the first figure I work on from Otherworld, and it is a nice piece with good casting and minimal mold lines. The 7(!) pieces fit together pretty well, but I needed to drill out 2 of the arm holes, and do a little crack filling... George
  16. Well, I asked if we were going to do this, and Inarah suggested I start the thread, soooooo... Personally, I have to work Saturday, and will have a house full of Pathfinder peeps over for the weekend, but I will still have my Golden Hours of 12 am to dawn to paint.... I am sure that the Hangouts will be open, and this will give folks a jump on the July RPChallenge, (Remember your Punk Rock Pink Paint!) So you have 2 weeks to start thinking about it! George
  17. So I chickened out after 3 stages of OSL, because I kinda like the way she looks, and I didn't want to kill it.... So I DullCoted and based her, in the same way the rest of this particular adventuring party is based.... Nothing fancy, just a few tufts, then a static grass / flock mix. Thanks for looking! Wip Here George
  18. ***Since I don't have enough projects going already....**** So this figure showed up in the BOGW, and I flashed back to Casket Works #13 where Reaper had Team Frog stuff in the catalog... (Really bad scan....) I don't really do anthropomorphic minis, but I saw the inner platypus screaming to get out, so.... Drilled a couple of holes in his bottom, and put a piece of paper clip into them as an armature for the new tail: Then added some greenstuff, Thinking that once that hardens, I can work from there to try to do some fur lines.... Any Ideas on how to make a monocle? George
  19. So, one of the new players in our Pathfinder game was using a male figure, She isn't playing one, so I showed her the KS, and she latched onto this mini. So I asked her for a list of colors for clothes etc, and made a start with the flesh.... Just beginning, but thoughts and quips welcome! George
  20. OK folks, I need some help... As most of you know, I am going to enter this guy in the Infamy painting contest, and I would like to make the best showing I can, so here are a bunch of pics, please choose the ones you think show him off the best! (I can send 8 pics total....) So please choose your favorite 8 pics and help me decide! Thanks! George
  21. The Death Chicken Commences! I had a little time tonight, so I continued with Infamy Mini's One Shot Goblin Chieftain. First off, He is a big boy, so I am going to think of him as a Hobgoblin, instead of a goblin. (Sorry Buglips) He will have Orange skin, as all my Hobgoblins do... Secondly, this resin is very different from the other resin minis I have worked with, much softer and more flexible than the Forge World Iron Warriors Dreadnought I built, or Battlefront's resin vehicle bodies... It is Fragile as Hades! Ias I was slowly sawing the chicken's lower jaw off the sprue with an X Acto saw, I broke one of the spikes where the reins attach.... 5 minutes of unholy speech, and crawling around the floor rewarded me with the piece, which I carefully glued back into place... I fear for the attachment of this figure to a base! The only point touching the ground is it's right foot, and the shape of it's ankle / foot /leg precludes driving a pin up the length of it's leg. I may have to re-think that, and drill the hole anyway and hide the wire so I have a semi sturdy attachment point... Thoughts ideas anyone? As a temporary solution for painting, I drilled a hole in it's belly for a wire to support it whilst paint is applied... Parts fit so far has been good, after removing sprue attachments etc. Left leg and Lower jaw... Still lots to assemble, next will be the 'wings'... This will definitely be a paint the rider separately job, and the way he attaches to the bird, he may get a wire for me to hide between his bum and the saddle, as the only attachment points there are the insides of his shins, and the straps of the reins.... Here is a scan of the Artwork that came with the KS: The mini follows the art almost exactly... And 2 pics of the Death Chicken so far: Little bit of gap filling to do... George
  22. So while painting during the hangouts, Was extolling the virtues of Dullcote, not realizing that everyone does not have the airbrushing station in a climate controlled area that I do, and it got me to thinking about some of the other sealers that I have on my desk.... So I decided to test the Aztek Airbrush Clear Matte, as it comes in a 2oz (59.1ml) bottle, and it is still available at places like Michael's, AC Moores, and Hobby Lobby. (I bought mine at one of the three, forget which ) So I sprayed my Bones Seoni mini that has been used as a test for Grey liner through an airbrush, and other things, and gave it 2 quick coats of Testors Glosscote, so we could see what we could see.... This gave me something suitably shiny for my test. Since everyone doesn't have an airbrush, I brushed on the Clear Matte... When it dried, it was still shiny, so I did another coat... And here are the results.... Still a bit shiny as far as I am concerned.... But as people on the hangout reminded e, different companies define "MATTE" differently, so if that is the effect you are looking for, it might work for you! Will need to test others as well, I have a Bottle of Polly S Flat Finish as well, but I believe that it is Out Of Production... Might do a coat of that over these results for my own knowledge, and will post the results.... For Science! George
  23. So while nattering away on the Google Hangout that Guindyloo set up for the Memorial Day Painting Binge, He got finished.... I think he came out pretty good, nothing I would consider more than a high end Table Top.... Not really pleased with his eyes, but after the third or fourth repaint, I said to Hades with it.... WiP Here Thanks For Looking! George
  24. Just a little something that I am doing to keep me busy as I am working on the Goblin Chief.... When I saw these guys during the KS, I knew I had to paint one.... Thanks for looking! George
  25. So since I only had 3 main projects and the diorama going, I am starting something else! This is Maglubiyet, Chief Deity of Goblins and Hobgoblins, who made his first appearance in the old 'Deities and Demi-Gods' from AD&D first edition... Maglubiyet is described as a giant (11 feet tall), black-skinned goblin with flaming eyes, powerfully-muscled arms and sharp talons. He is said to wield a mighty coal-black battleaxe that constantly drips blood. The mini is pretty cool, nicely cast with few mold lines, one of which I found while doing the initial base coat, of course... So here he is with a base coat of MSP Blue Liner: The eyes are gonna be fun.... If I had a couple more of these, I think they would make awesome statues for next to the doors of a temple... George
