  1. At the school where I work, the librarian has been most accommodating towards my kids' fantasy gaming and interest in fantasy topics. Furthermore, said librarian is a bit of a closet fantasy fan herself, actually having sat in on a few gaming sessions with the kids, and provided resources, and so on. I wanted to do something nice for her for the end of the school year, and I find that a neat little surprise does wonders for anyone's attitude of a Monday morning... particularly a Monday in which one is looking at the horrible grind of that Last Week Of School With Kids. So I whipped up a little
  2. Howdy Reaper! I haven't posted in a very, very long time, so I figured I'd get back in touch with my mini painting roots. Last night I finished my kitbash fighter. I wanted to try making a weaponmaster (great weapons) with swappable weapon parts. With magnets. The answer is always magnets. With the exception of a few oversize weapons from old warhammer variants I had rattling around in my scraps bin, the Reaper minis I savaged for this project were: 77382: Vernone, Ivy Crown Knight, 03447: Weapons Pack 7, and 60113: Technic League Captain. And yes. I made fun screaming
  3. I had some time to paint over my spring break. Said time may have come at the expense of lesson planning, but whatever. It's been awhile, unfortunately. There's plenty I'm not thrilled with here, but I wouldn't die of embarrassment from him hitting the tabletop, so that's something. I haven't had time to practice consistently, so I'm think he looks decent considering.
  4. Finished my first metal mini. Took some time to get the chain mail the way I wanted.
  5. Another attempt on NMM! LIKED the miniature alotta! And because of my daughters I'm now painting more female miniature which I have done at all.. Happy with the result. Still big fan of the Bones 3 mini's
  6. Hello all, Starting a new WIP for a mini I'm working on for one of the players in my D&D 5e campaign. One of her characters is a Tiefling Eldritch Knight, so I have selected the glaive-weilding S'Kara to be the starting point for this project... As you can see, I have just begun. I have primed the mini, and used a pair of pliers to slightly curve her horns, to achieve a more ram-like, less devil-like look. I'm currently in the process of selecting colours for the cloth portion of her outfit. Any suggestions or ideas?
  7. I realized I had yet to post any pictures of my latest project here. A few months ago I started working on this 54mm scale knight from Romeo Models. The figure is from the era of the 3rd Crusade, but I decided to paint him up as a generic knight rather than one of the crusading orders (like the Templars). This gave me a lot more freedom in color choice and for the design work on his clothing/shield. In my mind, he's an English knight traveling with Richard the Lionheart on crusade. That steered my color choice a bit, as red and yellow were colors used by the English king. But I opted to
  8. Sir Danel (this fellow here: https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/sir danel/latest/14226 ) got Bones-ified way back in Bones 2. With a couple changes. In metal, he has a lance and sword. In Bones, he was supposed to have a sword and shield. Somewhere along the way, a blunder happened. His Bones version is all goofed up. His left hand, holding the sword, is attached to his right arm, and his left arm just ends in a stump, no hand (there is a shield, though). There has been talk of correcting the mistake so that he can be marketed, but to the best of my knowledge this is still in the works.
  9. Greetings! This post and pics are less about bragging and more about posterity. I finished this guy up tonight and was pretty happy with how it turned out. However, it wasn't exactly how it hoped it would look. This is one of my favorite figs I bought in a long time, and I was stoked to get it started. So excited that I opted not to scrape away the mold lines and did a super bad job with the spray primer, which left for a lot of flaky areas and bits of plastic sticking out. So my plan for this fig is that next year, I will buy a new version of Sir Conlan and give him another try with som
  10. I am teaching myself to paint to miniatures (via Bones III + Stoneskull + a few extras) and despite reading blogs and watching tutorial videos I feel like I am messing up some basic stuff. I started a couple of months ago trying to paint the base set from the newest bloodbowl edition*, then some incredibly difficult to pain Hero Forge custom miniatures (with the old porous and nigh impossible to paint material*). After getting a Bones III it has become my goal to learn how to paint well enough to not have a table full of unpainted figures at my gaming nights. So far major challenges have be
  11. Hi all, This is a model I painted quite some time ago. The mouslings simply stole my heart. This is a metal figure and not bones (i could not do the mouslings in bones i think). This is more for the photography set up than the painjob though....what do you guys think? I need to get a nice neutral back drop and the teal probably is a bit too busy but other than that i think the shot is nice and clear. If everyone approves of pics like that then I have a good reason to annoy the photographer (my spouse) to take more :D He's far better than me and has the proper camera. I'm sure lots
  12. My latest Bone lll offering. Can't say I enjoyed the one. Has real problems with the armour and not really happy with the end results. May have been better using metallics. the shield turned out OK.
  13. Had this dude in my to-paint pile for a while, and started working on him while waiting for stuff to dry on Corim yesterday. Finished him up today . . . although I realized when I went to take a picture that I had neglected to do anything with the base. Ah well, everything is put away for now. Really like how the armor came out after painting gunmetal with a bunch of black and dark brown washes over it. Cloak came out super dingy looking, and the purple I used in the wash pretty much disappeared, but it's an alright look for this evil looking dude.
  14. A recent miniature to get me out of my two year funk
  15. My friend found some minis during a recent shuffling around of his stuff and he's not sure where they are from. He suspects its some form of special edition Civ game, but he couldn't find it online. Any help would be appreciated! They are a legionnaire, musketeer and a knight. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4jDvc9JUNVsSHNOMTB0T2M1Tjg/view?usp=sharing
  16. Greetings everyone! First of all I am so sorry If I create this topic in wrong place. So I'm kindly asking your forgiveness. Other than that, as the title says, I need suggestion help ladies and gentlemen. I am looking for a miniature figure, and this will be my very first tabletop FRP miniature which I'm going to buy for a current game, (Curse of Strahd, 5 edition D&D) But I couldn't find what I'm exactly looking for. My character is going to be a noble knight, an Oath of Vengeance Paladin in his prime. So I found some miniatures but it's n
  17. Presenting Percival, a knight of renown from Kingdom Death. Not massively happy with the face on this one, I was trying to give her a very pale complexion but it didn't really work. I also could've done a better job on her hair (I was just very intimidated by it for some reason). I am pretty pleased with the rest of her though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  18. I painted my last figure from the Learn to Paint Kit: Core Skills. I'm thinking i'll order the next kit to work on layering. I found this figure a little tricky because I used so much of the metallic paint. I'm happy overall with how it turned out. My favorite spots are the blue fabric in the back and the shield. Can't wait for the next set of figures to come in. It's exciting to already see how far I've come and how much I've learned from painting my first mini. C&C welcome, I'm always looking for ways to improve! Thanks for checking him out.
  19. This guy has been a work in process for a few weeks and I finally got the time to finish him up! Quite pleased with how my third paint job turned out! Got some tips from a vet painter last night and also an idea that I might do later to have a bit of a glow effect coming from the visor. Will update if I do it
  20. For the Role Player that can't make up their mind! I give you the Eldritch Knight! or at least that is what I think it is called. I would wear armor too if I was tossing fireballs out like a crazy scooby doo villian. Another one of those Paizo Pathfinder minis prior to Reaper taking over. My friend has a bucket of them and I chose this one due to it's uniqueness. yes those are ashes and a body shaped scorch mark. TOASTY!
  21. An older one, but I enjoyed the sculpt. This is a continuation of my practice with purples.... Not much I could do, except the hair... I toyed with the idea of making her much darker looking... but in the end, this is more likely to end up with the PC minis, instead of a villain. Thanks for enjoying my art.
  22. Originally ordinary insects, the Dung Beetle Knights evolved humanoid forms to fool their enemies. The Knight:- Mr. Ball:- My first result in my attempt to spend the year getting some more of my Kingdom Death minis painted up. Had a lot of fun with these two, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. The Knight could've done with a highlight on the armour segments to make the cracks pop a bit more, but I was unwilling to gamble on my brush control being up to the job. Any comments or criticisms are, as always, warmly received.
