aku-chan posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingLady Florence, a member of a more proactive side of the Order of Justicar, who research and seek out lost knowledge and forgotten relics, hoping to secure them before they fall into the hands of evil. She is aided in this task by the Light of Truth, a magical lantern that not only illuminates but reveals things that are hidden. Presenting Lady Florence, one of my many, many, many Warhammer:- Underworlds minis I have to paint up. Not my best work, I kept finding bits I'd missed, but she's done and that's what's most important at the moment. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
aku-chan posted a topic in Show Off: Painting"Umm... Guys, I think I've found our missing team members." Presenting the Cleric, part of the second Echoes of Death set from Kingdom Death, not sure why she has such a gruesome base insert, none of the others came with one. Disappointingly, she looks pretty terrible in the piccys. Honestly, apart from her decidedly wonky eyes, I thought I'd done a fairly good job. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
Statuesque Miniatures--Lillie Poots
Rigel posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingMy love for pulp is deep and well-documented, and when I heard Statuesque Minis was liquidating their Pulp Alley minis I had to check out the sale. This is not one of their pulp minis, but I couldn't resist the little tyke. About half Lucy Pevensie and half Coraline, a charming sculpt. 77364: Angel of Shadows
Pochi posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingHere is Angel of Shadows that I had fun painting with extreme OSL from both lantern and moonlight. I also had a lot of fun sticking her in front of different cityscapes. I am not sure if she was spreading dreams/wishes or collecting them but she had a Victorian feel to her so I envisioned her flying over Victorian London. Maybe she was acquainted with Peter Pan!

All Hallow's Eve - 01450
Pochi posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingI took Roman Gruba's OSL class at Cancon. He wanted to teach us about atmosphere so we were supposed to paint one side as if it were lit by moonlight and the other side by another source, in this case, her lantern. Her broom is only sticky tacked on so pay no attention to the blob on her back. Technically, she isn't "finished" as I would have spent a lot more time glazing and working in a little more color. I think she turned out pretty cool for only two hours of work in class and I feel like I learned a lot.
The Twilight Ninja
aku-chan posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingPresenting the Twilight Ninja from Kingdom Death, she was their special edition mini for last years Black Friday sale. I've had this one painted up for a little while, but I've been struggling to come up with a new photo setup (of course, the eventual solution was annoyingly simple). She's a little rough in places, I had to repaint bits of her bodysuit a few times too many, but I think she ended up looking pretty nifty. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
OSL 77364 Angel of Shadows - OSL attempt - Pendrake
TGP posted a topic in Works in Progress: PaintingThis is Talespinner's fault. And also OneBoot's idea. (In another thread Talespinner challenged people to try something that was new —to them— and then Oneboot mentioned OSL and this specific model.) So, I acquired one 77364 on Saturday. Then I headed into the paint area to make a start. At that point "a idea flew into my funnel" after I spotted newish bottles of Blue Liner and Black Primer. These paints got mixed... ...FOR SCIENCE!™ The other part of the idea was to prime the mini with this inky dark mixture (roughly 50/50 Blue Liner/Black Primer**) where the lantern light could not reach. I Probably worked too fast. I am thinking the back of her head should be all inky as well. The pizza happened later. **That made a nice rich black. Next: there will be a sword swap.
