  1. I finished another encounter. This one starts here, and continues p7-10 of the WIP thread. My general Bones 5 WIP thread More pics later
  2. I got few pieces to add to my previous set due to SW closing. Here's my WIP thread for all of them. These most recent pieces start on p5.
  3. Bones 5 WIP is where the work starts in this thread. Expansions Dark Depths: WIP SHOWOFF Dungeon Dwellers: WIP SHOWOFF Brinewind: WIP SHOWOFF Brinewind Extras: WIP SHOWOFF Encounters Charnel Pit of the Ghoul Queen: WIP SHOWOFF Dwarf King's Crypt : WIP p4, 7-10 SHOWOFF Shadows of Ravenhome: WIP SHOWOFF Spiders of Emrith Kul: WIP SHOWOFF Add-ons Adventuring kids: WIP SHOWOFF Arakoth the Ancient: WIP SHOWOFF Handmaidens: WIP SHOWOFF Yog Sothoth: WIP SHOWOFF Maybe more I don't remember yet
  4. My 3rd encounter in the last month and I'll need to slow down a bit. Main Bones 5 WIP Specific WIP The spiders were influenced by real spider types. The big black one was painted like the little red and blue one, Opadometa sarawakensis, but it was too distracting, so the color is on the underside. See p7 of WIP for more. The blue fuzzies ( Poecilotheria metallica) are tarantulas - adult and juvenile, so the small one is intentionally less bright. More pics later
  5. The toddler insisted on me removing the plastic piece from the puzzle game Blokus(tetris meets scrabble kinda) because it looked like game pieces left in the box. Nope, just a fancy display that made it hard to store/remove the game. I added some craft sticks to hint at my idea for a water park... No timeline
  6. This is a storage box/ terrain house I'm building for my kid's High Rollers set (which was found today and played with all without the knowledge it was a gift). Will have removable roof maybe with shingles. Currently just have walls and door. The extra cardboard from the door will disappear.
  7. I decided because I have a bunch of grass boards, that I should do some backdrops for nice dioramas and maybe just regular photos. So I primed (mostly matte medium which I have liters of and a little primer and a tiny bit of craft paint for volume) some of my many cereal boxes. Should I do anything more than sky and land/horizon? Tree silhouettes maybe? Got any good examples
  8. I decided to do the Mystic Circle so I could do all kinds of occult and folk horror scenarios. Currently "cooking" in the utility sink. The base parts were pretty warped. I may glue them to some foamcore for a little extra stability, but mostly traced, because I need to keep them " modular" for storage (the arches, I think they still qualify as dolmens, but I forget, will get pulled on and off. Unless it really doesn't work ). This will likely be an all June project, because I had an unexpected computer death and porch reno and need to deal with that.
  9. I decided to do the big treant today to have something that I could do quickly. Here's today in a few pics. They got a bit out of order. Green beard, orange mushrooms, black + browning shadows, brown + light brown in highlights. not sure what more I'll do. May not get to paint until the weekend.
  10. So I'm finally getting to the terrain for my graveyard set. I've washed the crypt and the fences. I got an extra set of fences, and I think I'm missing 1 short fence, because I have 5 of those, and everything else is even in number (doubled). Can anyone else who got both during Bones 3 confirm if they had 5 or 6? Here's stuff having a soak. Somewhere I have my Bones 4 toppers, but I'm not going to worry about that right now. I'm debating putting stuff on large tongue depressors and making stuff modular... though that would leave some gaps if I make a fence around somethin
  11. I have a set of walks ways and stairs, and some other stuff coming in summer, so I'll keep it all here. Today was base coats. Tomorrow will be drybrush snd details.
  12. My kid loves stealing my dice. So I'm painting some High Rollers as a bday gift later this summer. Kid is not old enough to paint with a brush yet. Day 1 was saturday - priming and base coats on the bases and D'Tenian. Maybe my first painting this year?
  13. i stumbled across this neat article on social media. It seems doable enough - balsa, hydrogen peroxide +sun light, and marine epoxy? Not huge application, but I suppose it would allow glass skyscrapers, greenhouses, and... mostly windows? Will post if I try. Please share if you try.
  14. WIP is here.First 3 pages include lighthouse. Mobile site has been a pain, so I'll add comments later. This was meant to be modular for storage.
  15. So I salvaged this bit of 16×20 particle board from a broken picture frame. I'll be using some of my foam core to make a city square/crossroads board with my foam rollers. Something for city games that isn't too time consuming, but is also good for a wide spread of genres with the proper buildings and scatter The tough part will be steaming off the paper and cutting down the various bits for rolling.
  16. I'm building my kid a shuttle from a page in the Young Scientist Book of Spaceflight that used to be mine. The kid likes planes, and this is the closest I can get to that now. I've already traced things out and have some foamcore. Will cut things out and maybe glue and prime tomorrow
  17. This pulpy fellow was nearby when I grabbed a few minis to paint.an early pic snuck in with my Crooked Dice minis. Here's an update. I was reusing colours , so he has a fancy shiny pants.
  18. I decided to work on the Chtulhu Chronoscope sailor minis for my lighthouse. I might need to get a few more ship's hands.
  19. I have been painting these as long as the others, but have lots of photo cropping. Currently painting the sacrificial victim from the Islanders set of Children of the Field... it was separate from the rest of my minis from that kickstarter. And also a (n unofficial) time lord companion for a variety of "normal" female minis. Pics later
  20. My child received a set of board books one Christmas and once the box was open it served no purpose to anyone but me. I rescued it to turn into a "fancy display box." I will tape up the edges of the acetate, then cover all the non-sky surfaces- on the inside and outside - with paint. What I need now is help choosing a/ some colour/s. Dreadmere gulper for scale (approx 5x6x10.5). Please post colour combo suggestions though I'll probably do a pale blue on the inside sides. Help me decide.
  21. My wife asked if I wanted a leftover tube from a bolt of fabric. It's much thicker than paper towel - at least standard foamcore - and at 32 inches, would give me enough for a 12 inch lighthouse and 4 5 inch towers.
  22. And so it begins... floorplans and foamcore. I couldnt find the post where I originally shared the link to floorplans, but a quick Google search turned up a version with BASEMENT! Now it all makes sense. I'll be doing a variation of the horizontal (top) layout with added stacks in the basement (and smaller lecture room). This will be the setting for my Gemma Files diorama. I will be doing fancy paper "wallpaper" on the inside. Stained popsicle sticks wood floors on the main, and concrete on the basement (tile bathrooms) with carpet in the staff and lecture rooms. I intend for it to be pla
  23. I got my caverns terrain, and... Wow! Cave Cliff Pack, Natural Bridge, stairway to violence, stone banks pack, and webbed lair adventure pack. Apparently a tote is still coming? And I already got texture patches. Things are currently getting scrubbed.
  24. I am painting up Reaper's townsfolk jock chick and nerd set for gaming. "Chick" first due to request. Hair and shoes basecoat Shoe colour is spectral glow and peacock green 1:1
  25. A request for more modern female minis, Dr Helen Salinger first, because I found her first. I will be painting her as Cosima from Orphan Black. Mostly base coats today, though I did a bit more on the coat. Legs are rubbing off so I may need to re prime. Skin was a weird mix of new copper, sun yellow and heavy _(I forget the Vallejo name) skin.
