  1. I wasn't sure about the color choices in the beginning but i like them now 🙂 I hope this mini scares my players when we play dnd! Thanks for looking!
  2. Hello All, Here is a "Dust King and Crypt" miniature set I completed a few weeks ago. Thank you for looking.
  3. Hello everyone, here's a nightmarish model I completed last night. Dark Heaven Legends 02896, Aserlis the Liche King was sculpted by Werner Klocke. All painted with Reaper MSP paint.
  4. It's nearly Halloween. What's spookier than the most infamous meat-grinder dungeon? Personally I think it's an awful module, but we had some fun running 30 kobolds through it ala Kobold Meat Grinder. But opinions aside, I do like the imagery of the classic crawl. So here's a few minis to help populate the dungeon. More Photos and Thoughts below the Spoiler That's all from this set. I felt very inspired by the look of this classic artwork so I figured I'd share it with you here: I'm not sure where it first appeared or who made it, but if you know feel free to share! What kind of art has inspired your mini painting? Feel free to share the inspiration and the results!
  5. The flickering glow of the torchlight illuminates the dusty, hieroglyphic-covered walls of the forgotten tomb. Moonglow clings to his hat as he carefully scans for signs of the hidden entrance. A small indentation betrays the location of a door in the stone wall. Carefully, the adventurer pushes his way through. The room is barren and dark, except for a single pillar of light shining down upon a small pedestal. On top sits a small box. Moonglow carefully crosses the chamber and approaches the box. He lifts the lid and peers inside. "Ah, there's my old minis!" Who's Your Mummy? Today I felt like sharing some more of my older work that hasn't been posted on the forums yet. This time it's the Bones mummies that are getting the spotlight. These mummies were one of my first large painting projects. It seemed impressive at the time to be working on 8 things simultaneously. They're a bit dusty from all the drybrushing, but I think they look the part, and I'm a fan of the red-gold color scheme I settled on. More Photos beneath the spoiler: These were a fun little set and were perfect adversaries when my players visited the City of Time and sought to stop a Lich's return to power. After failing once an resetting the clock, they had to fight their way through a mummy-filled temple complete with crawling claws and sand-filling rooms to stop the Mummy Lord from returning to his former Lich status. What's your favorite mummy encounter?
  6. my second miniature! I finished this about a month ago, but my matte finish finally came in so it is truly complete on the painting front. I'll be making a base once I get into my new house, so once I get started on that I'll add more pictures.
  7. I finished my Leisynn conversion. Took ages, especially with a new baby boy in the house. That said, I am fairly pleased how he turned out. I changed the entire front and head area of the miniature and gave him a more sensible staff. I think contrast could be increased overall and the subtle freehand on his robes was difficult. I will need to practice more with future minis. The illumination in the book turned out ok, but I came to the limits of my current abilities. It is based on a medieval illumination. Anyone can guess what it is? One hint: the horned one is involved. C&C very welcome.
  8. Painted up this Lich using washes and coloured primer again. Then applied lots of pastels for a desaturated grimy look. The base is gloss mod podge over dark blue grey, with some sweepings from a bag of logs stuck on whilst wet, and the whole thing given an umber wash when glue was dry. Really love this figure and again good to see it in Bones and as a one piece mini.
  9. The painting theme of the month has been chosen! The Undead of October will emerge from their (freshly painted) graves The miniatures have been selected… Here’s what's on the painting table:9 Bones Skeletons (from Bones 2)6 Undying (Death, minotaur, lizardman, elf, halfling, & dwarf skeletons from Bones 3)Bone Fiend (Bones 2)4 mummies (Bones 2)Hecklemeyer & Styx (25th Anniversary mini)Dust King & Tomb (Bones 3)Demi-Lich (Bones 2)3 Nefsokar mummies (Bones 1)26 (or 28 if you count the broken tomb and the tiny puppet) minis, in 31 days? Less if you count the vacation in the middle of the month… Plus one day since I started on the last day of September. Granted, the skeletons should all go really quickly, but even still, it’ll be a push to get it done, but this would push me over 100 minis for 2018… Since everything is already lined with brown liner, the plan is:Dirty Bone on all the bone and mummy wrapping!Scorched Metal all the armor and weapons Heavy Sepia Wash pretty much everythingHighlightsSpecial Minis:Demi-Lich - Thinking green/purple flames?Hecklemeyer - Black & White costume? Black, White, & Red?Nefsokar mummies - Lots of gold and bronze. Dust King - Seriously tempted to paint it up like the ice lich from Warcraft… As for their bases? That’s a little more work. The skeletons, bone fiend, and maybe the dust king will get bases to match the flocking on the tombstones. The demi-lich and hecklemeyer will probably get some sort of sculpted flagstone base. The mummies? Haven’t decided. Seriously tempted to give them dungeon flagstone bases too… Okay, so it’s really unlikely I’ll finish all of these in October, but maybe by November?
  10. Went a bit crazy and felt the call of the mini. Painted this in a single afternoon. Starting to get a hang on wet blending.
  11. When I first saw this model in Bones 1 I knew I had to do a custom piece. So, several months later, here it is. Now a closeup: And finally a top-down view of the base: Hope you guys like it, it's been one of the most fun projects I've ever done and I'm really happy with the colour scheme and how the base looks. Any comments and criticism welcome as always :)
  12. Big bad guy for current campaign
  13. Greetings! I've been working on this scary Reaper DHL Lich for a week or so. There is a rich blue glowy effect on his eyes but it doesn't seem to have come out that clearly on these pics. Anyway, thanks for looking!
  14. Managed to completely paint this happy little guy up in short order: Threw the base together last night to cure, but the actual painting time on this one was only a couple hours. I assumed that he’s meant to be floating on magical wisps of etherealness, but lack ethereal-colored paint. However, I have fire and lava colors, so I made it flames. C&C welcome, as always.
  15. My next project, also for my current Pathfinder game. This one looks like a real fun model and am looking to improve my layering technique as there are some nice areas on him to practice that. As always, any suggestions along the way are most welcome. Here is in his primed glory. Hoping to get a decent amount of work on the skin done today, looking forward to doing some fun stuff with the eye as well, but waiting on some supplies (read paint) to come in first. Oh and I totally forgot about doing a WIP of the base, but there ya go. At least there will be some stuff likely added at the end. :) Thanks for looking!
  16. One of my favourite sculpts, quite a weird creature. I love wizards. I'm happy with the color palette, the blues and greens combine just fine with the skin tone and I think I blended them nicely.
  17. I'm really happy with this one. 3D render by John Popson, cast by Effincool Miniatures. This will be available next weekend at GaryCon in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I get to personally hand it to Luke Gygax, and it will go into the charity auction, which all the proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project. I got it as close to the poster and shirt art as I could. Thanks for looking! If you're going to Gary Con this year, introduce yourself if you find me.
  18. Here is the Lich from the Grenadier Monsters box set. I didnt highlight the robe. I wanted it to stay grungy looking. I’m not sure if that was a mistake or not. How does one highlight a grungy purple robe? What color mix would one use?
  19. Lich with Wand by Otherworld Miniatures. The more I look at this guy, the more it seems like he is trying to fence with that wand. "En Garde!"
  20. Woke up this morning at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. Decided to spend some time before going off to work painting up the Demi-Lich from Bones II.
  21. I know I'm not following the guidelines by entering more than one mini per thread, but there's a theme to these. I'll take more chocolate to the next con and beg for forgiveness then. First up, Lurien 03170 Next, Spirits 03298 Now a mini I picked up at the paint and take at Origins, Sorrow from Malefaux: And some Zombiecide, well, zombies. The models were shiny when I go them already primed at the paint and take at Origins, and painting did not do much to knock it down. And finally an Iron Wind Metals mini to go with the zomibes: Not as many models this year, but I did get some nice ones in my order from Reaper today, so maybe a better showing next year. Happy Halloween! Bonus mini, 77352 Demi-Lich. Not really happy with this one. One interesting thing to note, though. There seems to be more than one skeleton on the base...
  22. A trio of powerful Undead from Reaper, finished up with some other Undead encounters intended for Frostgrave games. The group: The Lich King (Barrow Warden Mystic) The Giant Skeleton (or should it be Skeleton Giant) And the Colossal Skeleton, so powerful he's busted through the dungeon ceiling (or backdrop, at least)
  23. Another fellow who doesn't really go with any of my other recently completed minis, the Dwarf Lich King from Ganesha Games "Hammer and Forge" for "Song of Blades and Heroes" He's slightly converted, with his Freddy Kreuger glove replaced with a more generic casting hand, ripped from a Mantic Zombie.
  24. Showing off all the things I've painted recently (over the weekend, actually). As a note, none of them have finished bases - I'll do the bases later. Here's the Darksteel Knight (reaper, bones, 77148), and the Mithril Knight (reaper, bones, 77023). With the Mithril Knight, I'm not sure if he's "done" or not... I was thinking about darkening his sword's steel to make it stand out a little more (he looks almost too "washed out"), and perhaps adding some pale blue filigree to his armor... And maybe a thin coat of pearlizing stuff to his everything to really try to add to the "mithril" effect. Here's my Frost Lich (reaper, bones, 77280) and my Shadowmancer (reaper, bones, 77285). I really like how the shadowmancer turned out, and the "blue" effect on the frost lich seems to work okay - but he just doesn't seem "perfect" somehow. Maybe later I'll learn to do some better "glow" effects. Who doesn't love Mr. Bones? (reaper, bones, 77360) I love this jumping spider. I painted her after a jumping spider that I found on my back door. (reaper, bones, 77126) I want a lot more of this figure to paint, I could have a lot of fun making different colors of spider. Meet Mrs. Beatrice. She's apparently from a game called "Zombicide". I love her.
  25. I've not posted anything here for the last month or so as I've been working on a commission, which I thought I would share here. The minis are from the past & present & are by various manufacturers. I extended the integral metal bases out to the edge of the plastic rim with Milliput & did some light texturing on it, the Frost Giant has Army Painter snow flock on top. The Blight Lord's base was done using Basius's "Dungeon" stamp pad & green stuff. Dark Sword Minis Male Elf Ranger DSM-7105 Ral Partha Frost Giant 01-057 Reaper Minis Brand Male Barbarian 02529 Reaper Minis Townsfolk VII Clergy 02950 Rebel Minis Blight Lord RFF0209 Off The Wall Armies Swordfish Fighter GCC17-2183 C & C's are always welcome, thanks for looking!
