I'm actually backing it for the lighting attachment (which you can't 3D print!), and I'm sure some of you use magnifying glasses for painting. Even if you don't use magnets for your bases (I actually have some "Hand of Glory" miniatures that use "hot swappable" arms that use magnetized bits), you can putty the base of a miniature onto a cap. The magnet holds the cap in place, and allows you to rotate it. The handle is bundled with multiple caps, so you can also assembly-line paint your miniatures. (If you run out of caps, just putty or superglue your miniature to a flat magnet or metal disk.) As ever, do your research on paint handles to find the type that works best for your painting. "The new Painting Hilt Pro has a comfortable, full-grip painting handle design, perfect for extended painting sessions, and features a Rotating Cap that accommodates miniatures on a Magnetized Base. The Painting Hilt Pro also comes equipped to attach a detail light and magnifying glass, making it a great addition to your hobby tool chest. Our factory molds are complete, and we have samples in hand. We are seeking funds for our first order and will place the order as soon as the Kickstarter Campaign is completed." For US, at $25 for a single set, the creator pays for shipping. This is Cobalt Keep's third KS (technically five, but two were cancelled). and the other projects were also magnetized miniature accessories (display case and magnetic bases) as well. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cobaltkeep/rotating-paint-handle-for-magnetized-wargaming-miniatures?ref=user_menu

I'm painting a mini with a light source, and decided to rebase the beastie with some water effects, probably epoxy resin. I'll probably try to make the water at least slightly rough, creating interest for the eye. I woke up in a cold sweat this morning realizing that the light source should be reflected (or possibly just highlighted) in/on the water. My initial thought was to: lightly (heh) color the bottom of the pool as if it were dry and lit by the light source pour and texture the water highlight the water by drybrushing from the light source out. My concern about this is that if the viewer looks toward the light, the surfaces of any wavelets will be highlighted on the opposite side from the POV. In other words, the viewer will see the undersides or backsides of any highlights through the translucent wavelets, and this might not look the way the viewer expects. Has anyone done this? I looked around for a few examples but although there are plenty of doing wave effects (froth and foam), I haven't found any yet that look like translucent glare.

This popped up on my youtube feed and I thought it was pretty cool and could be very useful for what we do. I might make one eventually for my other work table (since I built a light arch for my paint table). I didn't even know these LED light panels existed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL3uZ88vA_0

30-ton Battlemech UrbanMech Capellan Regular Unit Paint Scheme This walking turret is scary in urban settings where it's hard for everyone to move. Slow and ponderous, the lack of a large engine to move it allows it to carry a wallop. Reaper Spattered Gore, Reaper Scorched Metal, Reaper Sunshine Yellow and Reaper Black. Washed with Reaper Walnut Brown.

First finished mini of 2016. I started this with the intention of gifting it to my Mom for Xmas. Well, Xmas is crazy busy and I didn't have time to finish her. So she'll get her tomorrow instead. She will be a part of the Nativity scene I plan on creating for her Xmas present this year. I loved painting this one, all that lovely cloth and the wings were super fun to do. I'm very pleased with the yellow. Yellow has been the bane of my existence but I think I may have cracked it. Now if only I could take a decent picture...

Here's a quick and slightly nasty photo of some sweet sweet resin mecha. The Big guy there has some fairly bad blemishes on his left leg, but the rest was beautiful. All the weapons are modular and available individually, so might be worth a look for conversions, find 'em at Gangfight Games.
